  3. Mark, regarding your question about servicing SHIMANO which is imported thru dealers whom you list.We as the Authorised distributors of Shimano for S.Africa service and back up all items . Please note however that every Shimano part produced has a special production code on it. Normally some items are supplied to our local market as clearance stock as the production changes and improvements to the product change,so you will find serial numbers dating back sometimes in excess of 3 years. We will service any Shimano product and help the consumer as best as possible however there would be a cost involved depending on circumstances and these items would have to go to your local Lbs whom in turn send it to us.For your information we are responsible for all Shimano Products imported thru all Local BIke importers. Probike are one of the largest suppliers of fully equiped Shimano Bikes as they get 100 % back up and parts are readily available, because our service #1 NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO SHIMANO. stephen@coolheat.co.za
  4. Porky, we sell all parts for Shimano Sti, left hand levers seperate parts etc etc. Pity you never brought this to my attention early as i was just reading some issues relating to Coolheat and poor service. Our business is based on good service and back up. Sometimes its not always possible to assist every single client but we will bend over backwards to assist in most cases. 6. Shimano is designed to work at its best with Shimano inner gear cable and Sis Outercasing. Many companies are making similar products but our experience has shown the best shifting performance is obtained by using only Shimano inner cable and outercasing. www.coolheat.co.za

    Broken chain

Our experience with broken chains has been as follows. 1) A new chain pin has to be used every time the chain is split together with the correct chain tool being used. 2) Shifting whilst under load. 3) Incorrect lube and or cleaning agent being used. 4) Bad assembly from either the factory or mechanic or self trained mechanic not reading the instructions supplied with every Shimano product imported thru the correct distribution channels. 5) Mixing and matching Shimano or BBB or Sram components does not help either as Shimano products are designed to work together so that shifting performance, durabilty and reliabilty are ensured from the start. 6) Work at the Cape Epic for 10 days and then you will begin to understand what i am trying to relay. I am not doing stating these facts to promote or advertise Shimano on the web. They are just pure facts. RGDS STEVE M www.coolheat.co.za

    Broken chain

Stay with Shimano as these components are designed to work 100 % together, mixing and matching is not a solution. I agree with JB as poor shifting and or poor instalation is most probably the cause of your chain breaking.Shimano chains are designed to fail at 9000 Newton Metres of Torque. A small average size motor car only delivers 200 Newton Metres of Torque. rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za

  24. Tacx Carbon Compound is designed to suit carbon whereby once applied to the carbon part be it a seat post or handle bar stem or whatever less torque is used to tighten it up with. If you over tighten a carbon seat pillar you can either ruin the clamp, crack the seat post or pillar and spend alot of monies replacing same.I have seen two identical seat pillars torqued up to the same torque, one seat pillar with Carbon Compound and one without and its amazing how this works. Many Look Frames we sold in the past suffered from this until Tacx Carbon Compound was introduced into the market two years ago.It cured many warranty problems with seat pillars. Do not use anything else which mite have a lubricant in it. rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za
  25. ANY GOOD LBS SHOULD STOCK TACX CARBON COMPOUND WHICH IS USED FOR CARBON PARTS. CALL 011 6082003 AND ASK OUR SALES PEOPLE TO ASSIST YOU FURTHER. PS THE PRICE IN POUNDS QUOTED LOOKS VERY HIGH AS ITS AVAILABLE IN A SYRINGE APPLICATOR AS WELL FOR ALOT LESS IN RANDS RGDS SM WWW.COOLHEAT.CO.ZA
