  1. Thank you. Got a very decent second hand deal hopefully pending!
  2. I am looking for a 120mm Rockshox Sid select/select+/Ultimate fork (35mm stanchions) and manual lock out. Any ideas or leads where I might get one? Open to 2nd hand as well.
  3. Reviving this thread a bit. Help me save my hub please. Stripped brake rotor bolts. Tried all possible avenues I could Google, even cut a slit into the bolt head and tried using a flat. Bolts are made of cheese it seemed and installer of these bolts used all the loctite available. Ended up having to grind it flat so that the rotor could come off. Now the question, how to remove the rest of the bolt?
  4. Does anyone have a sram shifter clamp for a Sram Eagle shifter? Willing to pay of course.
  5. https://youtu.be/SzUqf_OF8j8 Nice vid comparing a bunch of the most popular shoes. Ride concept helion seems like a solid choice.
  6. Don't forget about Trailwolf cycles in Taroko (Modderfontein) self.
  7. @Sam81 Really looking forward to the last chapter. Hope all is well.
  8. Washed the bikes on Sunday and after cleaning the chains decided to do a quick wear check. To my surprise my GX chain was sitting at .5 after only 1750 km's. Wifes GX chain still good, but she has done about 1000km's. (12 speed groupsets) Replaced with an XX1 Black chain and did some hard uphill pedaling in the most worn gears, no slippage so cassette is still good it seems.
  9. Apologies for the wrong advice. In my case everyone advised mine to be the 104bcd, turned out to be the FC-M782 XT crank which needed the 96BCD.
  10. @Quagga that looks like a symmetrical 96BCD. Went through the same last year when converting my wifes bike to 1x12. Could not find a chainring at all, only asymmetrical 96BCD was available. I went and bought a new bottom bracket and crankset+chainring from Lyne.
  11. Another useful feature would be a 'back to top' button as on some forums. When scrolling some threads with long posts it is quite tedious scrolling back to the top. Dark mode would be great as well.
  12. Last time I rode at Tarako was 24 April 2021, the river section was included in the Green and Red route if I am not mistaken. First time I got to ride this section, was not blocked off at all and boards directed us straight into it.
  13. Any chance for a dark mode on the site?

    947 Ride Joburg

Thanks Shahilj, not too worried about myself, just a couple of my mates which only has interest in riding road or non-technical routes. Will get them up to scratch by then, I think the Buffel route at Buffelsdrift should be a good measuring stick.

    947 Ride Joburg

Anyone who can advise how technical the 50km MTB route is? I have some friends who would like to join, but are worried about their technical abilities.
  16. Yeah that will teach me to not check the OP date. Lekker stupid.
  17. Nicholas from Wheelbuilder. Based in George now. Builds some awesome wheels. Give him a follow on Instagram/Facebook. http://www.wheelbuilder.co.za/
  18. Very interesting info, thanks all. Now my curiosity is through the roof!
  19. Rode at Modderfontein this weekend for the first time, well maintained trails, previous complaints as per this thread seems to have been sorted by the new management team. Also looking forward to the new entrance gate right opposite the trail start as driving on the unmaintained and speed bump infested tar road is a bit of a pain. On a side note, can anyone advise what the below are? Looks like some sort of bunkers, you quite clearly see them from the trails a couple of times.
  20. Awesome new wheelset from Nicholas the Wheelbuilder. Spank rims on Hope Pro 4 hubs.
  21. Thanks for the assistance to all who posted. I have 2 options, full pivot kit at R1200.00 and I can pick up myself or the one bolt needed at R150.00+shipping. Not sure if these parts are prone to breakage, then I can just as well buy the entire kit.
  22. Thanks David, will contact them, fingers crossed!
  23. Hi Guys, Need some assistance please, I have a 2020 Scott Spark 950. I was doing a once over when washing my bike and noticed what seemed to be a loose pivot screw, I grabbed the torque wrench and tried to tighten it, without even reaching 10nm the screw starting spinning around. So not sure if I broke it or if it was over tightened from the start but need a new one. Where will I be able to source?
  24. Hi All, New to the forum. Been an avid mountain biker while still in school, but lost it from there due to life, but at least picking it back up 10 years later. I live in Kempton Park. I currently have a 2020 Scott Spark 950 and enjoying the bike thoroughly, ridden a couple of trails and taken a few tumbles already due to being a bit overly confident, but extreme fun nonetheless. My wife also enjoying the hobby with me, got her a used Scott Spark 740 which we will be upgrading some components in due time. We have ridden at Riverfields and at Red Barn, and looking forward to exploring more trails. Looking forward to reading some threads and gaining some knowledge and most importantly asking some newbie questions.
