  1. I hear you on the plywood quality, it varies from batch to batch, though the local supplier seems to at least be consistent now. We brought ply in from Malawi, got a batch in that was delaminating badly, apparently the quality controller had gone on leave and nobody was doing quality checks. Only in Africa...
  2. How are you cutting those shapes? CNC?

  4. On Saturday I saw a commuter on a Colnago, stopped him and asked him if he wanted to sell it. He said its his brothers bike, who races it on weekends, and his brother would kill him if he sold it. Was a Master, with the formed top tube, with 600 Tricolor in reasonable condition. I asked him to please take the lock and chain off the seat post, chipping the paint on the top tube....

  7. Thanks [emoji15] - it's 2.4m. Took a 5.4m x 380mm laminated pine beam, cut 2 pieces of 2.4, laminated them to make the top, then cut up the Offcuts to make the uprights. The remainder of the wood was offcuts, all in, the wood cost me about R700, finishing (stain, wax, etc.) about R400, handles, runners and screws about R500. So, R1600 for a piece that would be R7000+ to buy. Yes, my time is not factored in, but my wife would argue that it keeps me off the streets...

  14. When driving, if you are closer to the pavement than the centre line, you're on the wrong side of the road! Some years ago, I bought a car and road tripped from the Netherlands, through Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Spain. For the first few days, I could drive for an hour before needing to sleep for a bit, the concentration was exhausting. It got better after a few days. Traffic circles were fun though...
