  1. That hunkajunk behind it is what my wife got instead of a new couch, so that she can try to earn her keep... ???? CNC Laser Cutter/Engraver, fun toy/tool to have!
  2. Haha, I knew that comment was coming... How do you like the stand though...? May be available for sale soon.
  3. Finally managed to complete my build yesterday, have just been up and down the road with it to see that everything works as it should, will take it out for a proper ride on Saturday. Tried to keep the costs down, though bike bits have become very expensive (when available), had to beg, borrow and steal off my other bikes to get it done. Thanks to friends in high places, I could source everything I needed in times when stock availability has been a mission (apparently the rims are 1 of the last 2 pairs of Spank rims available in the country). Learnt some new stuff along the way, like lacing rims and hubs. Now to ride it...!
  4. No idea, will weigh it this weekend. Not going to be light though, the wheels are burly (though did come in at 1.89kg's, but with the 2.6 tyres and 150ml's of sealant in them, they are not light). The bike was built more as a budget build, but still ended up spending more than I wanted to, our hobby has become very expensive. I must say though, I'm very impressed with the quality of the new Deore components, average Joe like me does not really need XT, the Deore stuff is great.
  5. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue! Hopefully some motivation to ride a bit more again!

  7. The Lamello Zeta T-Slot system is nice if you’re doing a lot of cabinetry type work. It does however tie you into their “biscuits”, which can become pricey. Kind of like the Kreg jigs, the Kreg screws are expensive.
  8. I have a Giant XTC 26” frame with 29” wheels and 35C tyres. The rear wheel fits, just. I had to file some material away on the bridge between the chain stays for it to fit. Also remember, the hub spacing is different between MTB hubs and road hubs. So make sure the hubs on the wheels you choose fit the frame.
  9. Bit slow to respond here... This XL frame, fork, headset, stem and seatpost may be available... All Ritchey bits.
  10. That is very nice, the stem is a little out of place though, needs something a little slimmer.
  11. The bike was bought by a friend of mine as an incomplete project from a guy in Cape Town a few years ago. It arrived in Joburg and the tins were sent to Custom Studios in Boksburg to be repainted, check out their Facebook page, they do phenomenal work - https://www.facebook.com/Custom-Studio-252088984904481/ - The pictures don't do it justice, the paint is a white pearl, the flags on the side of the tank and rear hump have a 3D effect to them. It ended up with me to update some of the lights, the rear light cluster was too modern for the look of the bike, fix some of the wiring, sort some leaks, rebuild carbs, etc. and has stayed with me ever since. My mate kind of lost interest in the bikes, and has never even ridden the BMW. It has been standing in my garage for at least 2 years, taking up space. We decided a few weeks ago that it needs to be serviced, and will soon be put up for sale. It's a great bike for what it is. Short hops, Cafe to Cafe. It is an old bike, with plenty go (it is an R100, so 980cc), but the braking and cornering are 80's. Air cooled, you don't want to stand still and have it idling between your legs for too long. It does however turn heads and gets a lot of attention wherever it stops. I'll miss it, but am looking out for a new project, want to build a board tracker based on a modern scrambler...
  12. Remade the bracket for the rear light cluster, sorted some wiring issues and serviced the old Beemer. Took het for a spin, she’s loud, hot and smelly, but puts a huge smile on my face.
  13. Which lake is this? We spent many December holidays camping and boating on the Swartvlei, at Trails End caravan park. I look at your photos and yearn for an early morning slalom ski on perfect water. Alas, I ski'd for the first time in years on Easter Sunday, thank goodness Monday was a holiday as I needed the day to recover from stiff and sore muscles...
  14. I have the Ryobi equivalent as well as the MacAfric from Adendorff which looks pretty much the same as the examples you posted. Don’t underestimate the Ryobi (the blue one), mine has done many hours of constant sanding without trouble. I bought the MacAfric as I needed extra capacity for a big job I was doing, it is quite a bit noisier than the Ryobi and I replaced a bunch of nuts with Nyloc nuts to prevent them rattling loose. As a side note, the Ryobi 150mm disks are about a third cheaper from Makro than they are at Builders, for the same thing. About R180 a packet at Makro. The disks at Adendorff are a lot cheaper, but come in packets of mixed grit, so you end up with disks that don’t get used.
  15. I bought one through Rookie Sports a while ago, great service from them. Helmet fit is good. I’m considering buying the model with the removable chin bar for my youngster who is getting a bit brave. Happy customer!
  16. I agree with you, the flare on mine is too much, which in turn places the levers at a weird angle, when you’re riding in the hoods, they feel too close together, and in the drops I can’t reach the brake levers.
  17. There’s something about the retro look of this electric car that does it for me.
  18. Came across this on YouTube this morning, interesting piece of tech.
  19. These guys should be able to help too: https://www.paragonmachineworks.com
  20. We were there around the same time, used to start out with happy hour at Pumpernickels in the Carlton Centre, then kind of float between Masquerade, The Doors and Q’s.
  21. That extends to bicycles too.
