  1. Gelmar sell legs, in a variety of styles.
  2. Looks like something Le Turbo would be able to sort, come to think of it though, haven’t seen any posts from him in a long time!
  3. I hear you, it’s a fight we have with the mills constantly, and they just point you to the spec for Structural timber and say it’s within spec. But people working with it don’t want to deal with twist, wane and all other “allowable” defects. Not to mention the mould that comes from one of the big mills... That being said, we will always do our best to supply a quality piece of timber suitable for your needs. Decent quality is available, and we will plane and cut to size, and then have it treated to your requirements. Treated timber is a requirement in the coastal regions, so more often than not comes pre treated from the mills, in Gauteng, it is not required, so we treat after cutting and planing. What is then critical is making sure it is properly strapped when it dries to prevent bowing and twisting. You’re welcome to contact me directly on DM if you want me to assist.
  4. I think the plant was aging, lots of breakdowns, cost of labour and challenging market conditions all contributed to their downfall. The timber industry as a whole has been taking strain for the past few years.
  5. The Masonite factory that used to produce it was in Estcourt and closed down. It was bought by another business, who tried to revive it, but without success. If my facts are correct, they went into business rescue, and subsequently also closed. So it now needs to be imported, I received a big delivery just before we closed for the holidays, have a lot of stock, but only open again on the 7th.
  6. Happy Holidays to the two of you. I’ve been following your story from the start, and always feel some excitement to read what’s next when I see it pop up in the timelines. Though things have not gone according to plan, and they have by no means been easy, I still do envy you guys, as you’ve created a life there filled with rich experiences, good people and what seems from the outside, a simplicity that many of us should actually be aspiring to. Thank you for showing us that life doesn’t need to be about the 9 to 5, the big chase (I stil wonder what it is that we chase after), and all of the stress that we put ourselves under. You guys are an inspiration, and I appreciate the stories you share! Merry Xmas to both of you, wishing you much happiness as your adventure continues!
  7. The last Eric van Enter I rode... First was in Cape Town the year before. The one in Potch we all wondered where will they find a hill for the hill climb, ended up climbing the hill to the radio tower. I seem to remember the antics in the school dorm where we stayed better than the actual racing...
  8. One of my colleagues has one, she's very happy. Been driving it for about a year now, no issues! Hope you have many happy miles!
  9. Whilst studying in The Netherlands, I saw it performed with a full choir and orchestra inside this church in Groningen, the Netherlands. Must admit, I was a little distracted by the young Swedish girl who was my date, but still, an absolutely incredible experience.
  10. Before I toss these, thought I’d offer them on here, was a project that never got done, and I need to clear out the space for a new machine that’s being purchased... Cable drum flanges, I have 3, 2 of 900mm diameter and one that is 750mm. They were going to be clocks... Free to anyone willing to collect in Alberton.
  11. Saw this ad on a website today, not sure what they are implying...?

  14. The rain in the week has transformed the veld! Thaba Trails.
  15. One of my mates got a brand new one of these for his 16th birthday (the blue and white one), that same afternoon, I get to his house, he's cutting open the silencer with a hacksaw to take out the baffle to make the bike faster. Needless to say, his old man gave him a warm ear. Was a little unfair though, as his old man also modifies everything with wheels that he owns. He currently rides a 650hp V8 trike chopper.
  16. Some inspiration for you... I’ve collected more here: https://pin.it/osg7t4aqnbsoza One day I’ll get to do my dream build!
  17. Rietvlei, just down the road from Bedfordview. I'll gladly show you around if you want to go for a ride! We have Thaba trails nearby too.
  18. Mine...

  21. I'm also looking, apparently there is a guy in PE, who machines a straight steerer with a collar, presses out the tapered steerer and presses in the new, straight steerer. Will try to get his details.
  22. Depends on what you want to do with it, as has been said, scroll saw is good for fine work on light materials. For your wedding needs, find someone with a laser engraver in your area, and get the table numbers, names, etc. cut on a laser. Quick Google search brought up these guys: https://thecuckoosnest.co.za/
  23. Impala Road traffic light to Van Dyk road traffic light (Rand Water to Virgin Active) is 55m elevation gain, 8848/55 = 160.873, so 162 soul deadening repeats, to be safe.
  24. Early Sunday at my Happy Place
