  1. Another option! Hasie & the Robots - Cannot comment on fit or quality, https://www.hasiecustoms.com/product-page/summit-trail-shirt
  2. This comment gets my back up a little, you cannot assume that because somebody's outward appearance looks normal that they are "perfectly able". Many people who appear normal live with big challenges, if an e-bike assists them to be out there, participating and enjoying the moment, I'm happy for them. Obviously they cannot compete for the Strava Segments/Medals/Prize Money/Bragging Rights/etc. but for many, the ability to participate is a big win.
  3. Some feedback on this thread. I ended up buying a Garmin 5X Plus Saphire from the classifieds that was still sealed in the box, at what I think was a good deal. I then bought an Apple Watch Series 7 for my wife for her birthday. My observations, as a Smart Watch, the Apple watch is superior. As a fitness/outdoor device, I feel the Garmin is better. The buttons on the Garmin work better with gloved fingers than the touch screen and rolly button on the Apple. The other bit where the Garmin is far better is battery life. I've not used either to their capabilities, but so far, I'm really liking the Garmin.
  4. You need to see them in the flesh, the red has a candy apple type of look to it, and the white has a fine pearl effect. The black is a bit flat for my liking, it looks like it has been washed with degreaser and lost its lustre.
  5. A little difficult to tell the difference, as they are very different bikes, the Ritchey being rigid and not quite as low, long and slack. The Rapide was also built as a burly, steam roller with wide rims and 2.6 tyres. Having said that, there is magic in the Ritchey frame, when I built it, I built the parts over from my On One Inbred, which had similar geometry, the Ritchey was on a different level, a lot more comfortable and handled the rough stuff a lot better. The Rapide, pointing downhill, I could bulldoze over rocks and roots, I often said it felt like I was holding the bike back, scared to just trust it and let it go!
  6. Thanks, gum grips were on the list of things to do, it also got a dropper after the pic was taken, and then it was stolen...! 😢
  7. To get the thread back to the point, a pic of my bike that was removed from my garage...!
  8. Reading between the lines, I think you have a lot of "stuff" at your disposal to build all kinds of 2 wheeled contraptions. I have a some bits and pieces, have dumped a lot in the last while since my wife took over my garage for her work from home business. With all the "standards" that have changed in the past few years, a lot of the bits became obsolete. I have a need for a rigid steel SS again, but my youngster has suddenly taken a proper interest in riding, and his bike (built up out of a lot of bits and pieces) is soon going to be too small for him, so bike funds need to be channeled differently. His bike will go to his younger brother, and when he outgrows it, so at least I can recycle.
  9. Plus all of the other bits and pieces that we tend to forget about. Bar and stem - 830 Grips - 230 Saddle and post - 1039 BB - 440 Tubeless valves - 210 Rim tape - 120 Sealant - 120 Brake rotors - 360 Another R3500 odd here, based on Rapide' pricing and my insurance quote. I still cant get over the price for tubeless valves!
  10. I'm looking for a 10 speed Shimano shifter (MTB) for my son's bike, currently using a 10 speed XT derailleur with a 9 speed SLX shifter, which works, but skips the 2nd to top and goes straight to the top. Lots of left hand shifters available on the classifieds, rights, nothing... Willing to pay.
  11. That's a very open question. What I can say though is that when mine (which was geared) was stolen I put together a list for the insurance with like for like replacement, it ended up just over R57000-00. I had built mine up over time, with a combination of new and used bits, and in my mind the number was around R35000-00. Was a bit of a mix of bits and pieces, but was not a "high end" build. What became very clear through the exercise is that it is definitely cheaper to buy a complete bike than to build. What it also made me realise is that I should never have sold my Ritchey SS, especially not for the price I sold it for #sellersremorse.
  12. You'll ride with him on his "wife's" pink bike, but complain that the bars look naff...?
  13. I'll take you up on that offer! Will contact you directly.
  14. You're probably right, I have the older model Rapide gravel bars, not sure how much flare they have, but riding in the hoods they feel to narrow, in the drops too wide with the added problem of not being able to comfortably grab the brakes!
  15. I cannot comment on the shorts, but if you have a bit of time, watch this video, a lot of valuable info re bike setup.
  16. So my Rapide' was stolen, and the general parts availability plus pricing of new bits and pieces plus time to get back in the saddle led me to buy a used full sus plastic bike as opposed to rebuilding what I had. When the time is right (shall I say when the budget allows), I will build another Rapide' but in a bit of a different guise. My last one had 140mm fork, big wheels, big tyres and took a lot of effort to pedal uphill, but was a blast on the downhills. My next one will likely be rigid and SS.
  17. I'm just curious, as I have the problem on my flared drop bars, can you reach the brakes whilst riding in the drops? I'm considering changing out my flared bars for more conventional road style bars.
  18. Not a purchase, a gift from my 14 year old. Some years ago, my wife bought me a Singular Griffin that came with a Charge saddle in brown leather. I've held onto that saddle and transferred it from bike to bike. When my bike was stolen in November, the saddle went with it, and I was obviously very disappointed. My youngster made it his mission to find a replacement, that arrived yesterday for my birthday!
  19. This is quite cool, electro music mage with real instruments...
  20. Been a lot of changes at Thaba with the new Balwin development going on there. The whole white house side of the trails have been cut out for now, hopefully they will be included again sometime in the future. The DRI line is also very overgrown. Going to be interesting to see what become of Thaba as a riding spot in the next 18 months.
  21. I might as well go all out, Joseph is fairly loud already, the Ti bolts will fit in perfectly...
