  1. Geez we have some scum human beings on this earth. Sounds like the kind of heartless things gangsters would do, probably drug fueled as well. That stretch of coastline is so idylic and beautiful, hard to enjoy it like before after reading of this poor guys fate.
  2. This is rough, even relatively isolated unpopulated areas are becoming no go zone's Anyone know exactly what happened in this incident, I'm assuming they mugged the guy as he was coming up to his vehicle after a surf? Fark me.
  3. That's what always amazes me, how thick skinned these kinds of people are, it's like they have a special talent in that regard. But I can bet the guy is not a particularly happy camper though..
  4. Good news, does it look like they are going to finally nab this guy?
  5. Exactly the ones I got. I'd suggest trying with paper filters when you get a chance, available at most supermarkets, just make sure to get the correct size I think it's one below the very largest. You may be surprised at the taste difference.
  6. I also got some cotton filters from Truth when I ordered my dripper from them, added a weird flavour to the coffee, to the degree that I stopped using my Clever dripper all together. Can you recall what make yours are? Then I randomly decided to try paper filters, mmm finally nice coffee.
  7. The Clever dripper does make a nice cup, just all those paper filters start adding up if you buy them at Pnp.
  8. Just make sure you get the size that you will use most often, the coffee grinds holder has to be filled up for them to work properly, you can't get a 6 cup and only half full it . And by cup they mean espresso shot, so 2 cup is a double shot.
  9. Cool bike, cool dad, lucky kid! Where did you guys find such an old model in pristine condition, the bike must be pushing 10yrs+ old? That fork is awesome, in addition to having good handling they are very reliable and easy to service.
  10. An ex vegan??
  11. How much are the Xx1 12sp chains?
  12. So what actually happened, why were you advertising another guys bike?
  13. Eeish, I wonder if this is linked to the auto pilot issues.
  14. Going the civil case route is good advice. Doing that is quite common in the USA, often a case will get to a criminal trial but there is insufficient evidence for a conviction via reasonable doubt and the perp is found not guilty but then they take it to a civil trial. There is often good grounds for a civil case where a different benchmark for a guilty verdict is applied, often families get justice there. At the very least the op sees the hit and run driver in court. If things work out the guy also has his actions inked for perpetuity next to his name and is also held financially liable.
  15. I have been mugged/robbed exactly like that, stopped in bumper to bumper traffic, window wide open like an idiot. Out of the blue I get a knife in the face then held at my neck, the car key was pulled so I couldn't drive away, then they went rifling through the car taking my phone, whatever looked valuable. Sitting in that situation at their mercy all you are dearly hoping for is for someone to step in to help. Eventually a vehicle behind me started to hoot and the robot changed to green which meant vehicles started moving and the skabengas ran away. That being said an important lesson of self defense is don't be foolish enough to step into an incident if there is an assailant and you aren't trained or sufficiently armed to do so. Often you and the original victim will get injured and then both be at the mercy of the criminal, or even worse you will become the victim. That doesn't mean you do nothing but it may mean that initially you will have to watch until an opportunity to help arises, which may just mean being there to call for help. Also these things happen quickly, the video above is only 19secs long, not always easy for drivers around you to discern what is going on before it's too late. But all that being said you would have hoped at least someone would have got out and tried to skrik the guys into running. Then again knowing Sa these skoms would probably stab a dude who tried that, hence the people in the vehicles that were around this incident were probably wise not to try that... Sa criminals are not to be trifled with.
  16. If it's at a similar wear limit then I don't see why not, that's something many people do albeit with more chains hut the theory remains the same.
  17. In New York literally mega billions, in rands that is.

  19. Never met him in person but over the years he became one of my favourtite guys on Bikehub, truly a scholar and a gentleman, going to miss you buddy. Hard not to shed tear sitting here in front on my computer RIP Johan and condolences to his friends and family.
  20. The eggplant cheese trick is a clever idea, I'm going to remember that one. I've noticed there's always some very innovative and interesting food hacks with good vegan food, it's so good for you and so deliciously interesting to eat.
  21. In heaven Uni will be the chef
  22. Thread necro!! A lady that's 5.10" would they be closer to a Zula Medium or Large?
  23. You have got a few things wrong there. A common complaint with Coolheat is the opposite - they will not have obscure spares or often not have even relatively common parts and spares(or have them on endless backorder, who has 4 months to wait for spares to arrive and then pay a hefty premium for the convenience??) and then people will have to search online for them and find them far cheaper(all costs incl) and more easily available online from intl sellers. I have found that a few times, eBay for one has almost every conceivable obscure little bike spare part and rebuild kit. And ordering parts from overseas, there is no choice to pay or not pay duties(if applicable) and VAT. Customs inspects your shipment and you just hope they don't gouge you by incorrectly assessing the category the goods goes into. I don't know anyone who would be foolish enough to think Coolheat will entertain warranty claims on overseas purchases of the brands they carry and whatever that case is they don't end of story, so that does not form part of their costs base. If an importer or shop doesn't want to do proper market research before starting a business then as with any industry they will crash and burn, that's not unique to people who wanted to make some extra money off the "sport they love". Having an agency or retail outlet is a business firstly, the sums must be done as to the feasibility, the cycling industry does not have an exemption from that. I think a fair amount of the players in the cycling industry are still stuck in the days before the internet arrived with online shopping and lower shipping costs, it's here to stay and the "problem" isn't going away.
