  1. I replaced the bearings in my hope pro2 hubs front and back, front spins freely, ie give it a good spin and it carries on spinning for a long time, the back hub even with the chain off(so no drag from the freehub ratchets) does not spin very freely, it is quite hard to turn the axle with my fingers with the wheel out. I did get carried away filling the bearings with grease, I noticed that added quite a lot of resistance. Is this normal for a Hope rear hub or have I got something wrong?
  2. Also keen to know, not terribly easy to find this stuff, especially at a price less than Stans, which is my goal. Around R150/L would be good, not sure if that's being a little optimistic?
  3. Thanks Fanie, there was another earlier one, mainly discussing an OKO supplier.
  4. There was a discussion about this sometime back but I can't find the bladdy thread. I'm over stans and the way it disappears into the ether every few months. I want to try Slime Tyre Sealant, the stuff that lasts for the life of the tyre just about, doesn't work quite as fast as stans type stuff but I'm fine with that. So whats a good slime sealant that's fairly priced and reasonably easy to find, at the motor spares shops etc, local midas or autozone didn't appear to have much , just one brand each, almost the same price as stans, one even more pricey!
  5. What's the Milnerton market, like a flea market?
  6. Rs seals last forever, mine are close on 5yrs old now and only just reached the point where they need replacing.
  7. That's the news we really want to hear!
  8. Your hashtag doesn't give your preceding gibberish the context it is missing.
  9. Major service on that fork incl changing all the orings is soooo easy! Orings at the bearing shop(some are imperial) and crush washers are normally still good to go if still fresh from a previous service, I've reused mine 3 times now and still all peachy, next service they need replacing though. Let out the air from both pos and neg, set sag to your weight by pumping the positive side only and then pump the neg just until you see the first signs of the fork travel dropping, I normally put the O-ring 1mm above the fork seal and once that hits the seal I stop pumping the neg.
  10. If SA had no crime it would be paradise, esp Capetown. This constant vigilance when out and about sux, bleeds the good vibes, especially when riding on a good few R10ks of easily saleable rolling stock. fock
  11. Meaningless information without mentioning the particular frame you were fitted to, all sizing depends on the frame you want to be fitted to and how that manufacturer builds and sizes them. Ever tried on new jeans in your normal size but from a different brand and they were way too small or way too big? Same theory!
  12. Nice! Nothing like riding around on a bmx for a while and then jumping on an mtb and it feels like riding on a penny farthing the wheels are so big.
  13. What exactly happened? Did the heads of the stem bolts break off or did the stem itself or the faceplate have a catastrophic failure due to being over tightened? Tightening the faceplate unevenly can also crack the faceplate, I have done that on a Thomson stem before, wasn't even over tightened just unevenly.

Seen pics of this happening with Hope brake levers, manufacturers should perhaps design the lever end in a way that it can't stab you so easily, granted this is an accident but still it's the whole damn lever inside the guys body. I've had a similar thing happen in the sea with the barb under the tail of a skate, went straight through my finger in one side out the other, happened so fast didn't feel a thing. Was a bit sore afterwards though
  16. That fork is apparently fully functional and awesome(for racer types), pity it's so bloody ugly and ungainly looking. Hopefully they'll manage some engineering trickery to make it look more racy and less garage steampunk hodge bodge.
  17. Some cool tricks here, just a bit weary of the copper slip migrating onto the brake pad material?
  18. Cheap decent looking baggies!? Where are they to be found? All the big brand baggies are R1k++
  19. Shops are not allowed to pass the fees onto the customer, even if the customer is willing to pay them
  20. I would have moved over to the left when circumstances allowed it and given the guy space to come past safely on your right but if the guy was trying the pseudo professional freight train coming through get out my way now style of riding and tried to muscle past without giving you a fair chance to move he got what was coming. Either way he choose to ride too close to a tree and paid the consequences, not like he was forced into that line, could have taken the wide open left side?
  21. Which 661 knees pads are they? The soft ones?

  23. What make/model is it and price?
  24. What about returns/exchanges on sale items? I have seen a good few shops try that no returns/exchanges trick on sale items, is that allowed? From I understand the shop have to honour the warranty on sale items but I would not not necessarily be entitled to return or exchange the item, that's up to the shops discretion.

    Advice

You need to be imaginative and clever with how you post updates and pics, make it interesting with the experiences and quirky things that you see/happen to you. At the end of the day a AtoB boring ride for you is not so boring to the weekend warrior stuck in the office/suburbs...
