  1. yes, that was the moment where I thought "how on earth did he do it?"
  2. Very good summary of his life. What stood out for me was the amount of lying, in front of media, law, family - dragging his kids into it etc - they focused quite a bit on putting as many quotes of his into this one hour as possible. 6 days to go till TdF!
  3. Hahahaah. I bet at some point you considered riding in flip flops?! :-)
  4. Is that what Andrew Mc lean looks like..? :-)
  5. So if you say fair, doesn't it mean you know the price you want anyways??
  6. Nice or not?
  7. Swedish hotness:
  8. great, brakes that brake, finally!
  9. Swedish beauties...
  10. Yes, in my years of flying I have realized that terms & conditions are not related to what the person at check in actually does once you smile at them and greet friendly. Usually costs for additional luggage / sports gear etc differs vastly in theory and reality. It just wasn't an option for me regarding the little travel time, so I didn't bother. Norway is amazing. Have ridden Bergen - Oslo. Next week is the Oslo - Trondheim 542 km and the Jontunheimen, which you probably do (I am officially jealous...!!!). Enjoy
  11. yes of course you can. EUR 100 per one way journey, my mistake. : https://www.klm.com/travel/nl_en/prepare_for_travel/baggage/excess/bagagge_piececoncept.htm I just got an email from the organizers, that there were only 2 South African in the race - so who is the other one? :-)
  12. Cut off is at 21:00 on the Saturday, the first groups start at 19:00 on Friday... so technically, if you manage to get into the early start group you have 26 hours to complete... and some people really spent that time on the bike.. incredible. The record is 06 hours 37 minutes, last year. for 300 kms... Fcuck meeeh :-)
  13. well, it was around a lake - total climb was 1500m, over 300km distance. so basically same climbing as an Argus, but 3 times the distance. still can't believe I managed to do it :-.)
  14. Hello Slowbee, was lucky and only paid for the flight (CPT - AMS - Linköpping) for ZAR 8K (booked in October last year) on KLM. Registration for this is in October, costs about EUR 100 registration fees. Online registration for 23000 riders was sold out in 2 hours! Left the bike behind, my brother brought a spare one. KLM charges EUR 150 per bike per flight, so NO. Plus I planned the trip too tight to worry about anything / have a bike arrive delayed. Flew out Wednesday night, landed back in CPT Sunday night and cycled 300kms in between... hand luggage only :-) No, we didn't average 33km/h, only for a section of 80 kms. overall was only 27.9 average. I camped with my brother and sister, they drove up from Germany, 1500 kms, with all the gear we needed. Best thing ever, the camp site was incredible.
  15. Isn't it only June?!
  16. Wow, what an amazing ride this was! We completed the 300km, something I never thought possible. I wrote a little review: www.punctureking.com.
  17. Has there been a 26er vs 29er thread on here?
  18. So, I am off tonight, via Amsterdam all the way to Sweden - our start is Friday evening at 22:30 - and my flight back is Sunday morning at 6! Am super excited, can't believe having the privilege of being able to do something crazy like this. Pity I miss father's day by a few hours though...
  19. it's in Greenpoint Cape Town, according to their FB feed.
  20. Sounds perfectly fair - just because my city golf isn't produced anymore, I haven't got cover for a newer more expensive model ?! :-)
  21. I think that a transfer to another race should be a fair solution in this case. Generally though, this only works in series - so what is really needed is an insurance solutions same as in travel. Organizers can't be expected to carry the risk, therefore it must be an insurable risk: at the point of registration participants should be given the option of adding 50 bucks or so to cover themselves for "cancellation fees" in case they can't ride anymore. If we chose not to insure the risk, we carry the risk of lost entry fees. Especially with pricier race entries I think this would be a good solution - so, if someone in the insurance trade wants to offer an option for race organizers, here is the opportunity.
  22. ...if you're 12
  23. Riding like that, having attitude and wearing a pink top. Tssss
