  1. 1.94m, 84 kg, sore back after 30 mins on the hard tail. So bad that I barely made it to the singletrack at Harkerville before the pain started. On a full suspension XL Scott now, and admittedly training more, but pain in the back is virtually gone.
  2. If in doubt, blame the bike. That's what I do when I fall. :-)
  3. if he actually has insurance, can't you get the broker / assessor details from the owner and offer him to handle the admin for him?
  4. Honestly, double lane + emergency lane = how much effort did it take to pass them safely?
  5. Taking over a luxury hotel in Cape Town... ( I love his "who cares about stiff upper lip? approach!"):
  6. geee with low a heart rate like that, do you ever stress about anything in live?! :-)
  7. This is terrible! So sorry to hear man, glad you got out of it unharmed.
  8. Yes, amazing plane. This one is in Cape Town. Kiddo called it "Dusty" as in the character in the Disney movie.
  9. Planes weekend with my son. First the Disney 3 D movie, then the Airforce museum. Found this rare gem there: (sorry, pic too big, looks nice when opening in separate tab)
  10. have the same problem, sweating like a pig and hating it run into my eyes. so badly that I crash on downhills, as once I made it up the hill my frikking eyes are hurting from sweat that I can hardly have them open. Have tried the GUTR, and bandanas, not so successfull. Then I blamed my glasses, maybe there isn't enough of an air-stream coming through to dry it up, but that theory didn't work either. I think I could do a sub 2:30 Argus if the sweat in my eyes wasn't the issue :-)
  11. Wow, thanks for the help! Grabouw it will be :-)
  12. Sorry for being stupid or blind , but here is the story - haven't done any events this year, now I am childless for the weekend and finally motivated - and can't find any event in the entire Western Cape? Does anyone know if there is anything going on? MTB or Road? Thanks!
  13. yeah, giving these back to him is basically saying that not playing by the rules is fair if all of us do it. A bit like speeding fines in South Africa.
  14. After a few years of nursing a broken credit card it still doesn't heal up properly. It seems to be a recurring injury, or some stress fracture because of too much use and too little time in between.
  15. have bouth a five year old Merc station wagon, with towbar for my Thule. Thule has got 7 pin plug. Merc has got 13 holes. Me thinks, "I quickly get an adaptor". Merc wanted R 1500, towbar centre R1000 (for a VW adapter...). a simple plastic adapter. Called the guys at Thule Load & Go in CPT, R 395 for the same thing, also VW. Keen to tell the towbar centre that my suspicion that they are shafting me was right...
  16. Two in one. in one.
  17. So what did they call that process where gas in water forces your own body's water out and dehydrates you... :-)?
  18. I've really tried to understand what his tread is about, unsuccessfully. Can I not just take my bike and ride the trails around and at the foot of TM or will be sued rather than robbed?
  19. It's threads like this one that convince me more and more to spend my time on the bike rather than in the hub.
  20. While I don't mind CWC, the strict separation between online and shop to a point where they don't talk to each other as in Hairy's case is frustrating. It's like walking into a yellow MTN branded shop being told "we are only a franchise and can't help you". For me as a customer, if you put the brand name up, you are one part of the bigger picture and I expect the same service as in all other of your departments.
  21. Nicole Kidman's hotness made the brakes fail.
  22. I struggle to understand that people still ask for medical proof that a helmet does improve your chances of survival/ minimizes injury. Yes, it won't protect your leg or your collarbone. But hit the curb with your skull and then do it without helmet. Simple as that, and the kid that died in my town could have still been around, maybe, maybe not. Another thought - when riding a motorbike, why bothering with wearing a helmet?! If you hit that truck, what is the helmet going to do? So the same principle should apply to complete the theory.
  23. I'd just be happy that you can still worry about the Garmin... Next year mate, next year.
  24. You Joburg people got issues! :-) Kidding, re the helmet issue, I believe in Darwin. Let him do whatever he wants to. It's the same as adults refusing to wear a seat belt.
