  1. I struggle to understand that people still ask for medical proof that a helmet does improve your chances of survival/ minimizes injury. Yes, it won't protect your leg or your collarbone. But hit the curb with your skull and then do it without helmet. Simple as that, and the kid that died in my town could have still been around, maybe, maybe not. Another thought - when riding a motorbike, why bothering with wearing a helmet?! If you hit that truck, what is the helmet going to do? So the same principle should apply to complete the theory.
  2. I'd just be happy that you can still worry about the Garmin... Next year mate, next year.
  3. You Joburg people got issues! :-) Kidding, re the helmet issue, I believe in Darwin. Let him do whatever he wants to. It's the same as adults refusing to wear a seat belt.
  4. Stairwell deco in some Gardenroute hotel. I like.
  5. Jonkershoek awesomeness.
  6. Hectic. I hope your wife is OK, I also hope you get the guy.
  7. I love classifieds. Bought my house and car on gumtree. Shitty ad, no response, simple as that. (Shitty CV - no job, shitty face - no... nevermind) but we won't get that into some of the advertisers thought process.
  8. shout if you need a lift. got a station wagon and heading north from the CBD.
  9. my ultimate dream car.
  10. yeah, that's going to help our reputation...
  11. that is the price of my road bike
  12. Am glad I'm not the only one. But to me this seems like a attempt at making us feel sorry that the OP is not involved in the money making cycle race (and he describes how profitable it is) by pulling the childrens home card.
  13. Buy Aeropress at R400 and never look back...
  14. Two questions: How does one "hi jack" a race without the originial organizers agreeing? How does an organizer agree to give the race to another organizer and then not stipulate sponsorship conditions for something so close to his heart?
  15. it was only 24 hours so far, right. am sure we can't all beat CWC. My mom only checks her email every 3rd day.
  16. yeah, cyclist carrying a bike walking around a tree in a circle... which animal wouldn't be curious?!
  17. I am so much in love.
  18. is that what the new iOs "simplified" design is going to look like?! I like simple, but this reminds me of some 1980 factory look. (and I am still looking forward to downloading it...).
  19. can you get me that jersey in L please? :-)
  20. I'm feeling so sorry for the Standers trying to get closure. That said, I do wish for a fair legal process here - which is unlikely in this country, be it a taxi driver, a Fortuner driver or a truck driver. What I generally don't understand is why in SA speed limits, especially lower ones ( 60/80) seem to be ignored by everyone. I get hooted at when driving 60 in a 60 zone, sworn at by everyone on their school run / office run. If speed traps are set up we post them on pigspotter or claim police are just ripping us of. Then we flash our lights at other speeding drivers to warn them. If that's the attitude, we do have a lot to change, and sentencing one reckless driver must be the first step.

  22. I always put my gel in my shirt pockets, not in my pants, so I wouldn't be able to comment....
  23. I suck at road cycling - went for a ride with a 51 year old mate (almost 20 years older than me), who only weighs 68 kgs, compared to my 83. we did Chappies (twice), Ou Kaapse, Boyes, Blackhill, Suikerbossie. 1500m in total - in the end he had to wait for me at every little hill, so embarrassed...
  24. This is just crazy. Sorry to hear. Colleague of mine got a new A3 delivered to his house, presses the central locking key and it opens his garage door. Presses the lock button and it locks the garage door. How is that even possible (no, that is not not one of the many extras you can order...).
  25. It is "gmail@jensvoigt.com" not the other way around.
