  1. Have they arrived yet ?
  2. Haven't heard anything about it yet, is it going to be different to the stuff shown on the two episodes of SuperCycling ?
  3. Is this the promo video for the 2012 race ? My personal opinion is that the visuals are nice but it is not nearly as good as last years promo video, music is not great. just my 2c, but all the same it is an awesome race and was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. Definitely want to do it again in 2012.
  4. Hi all, A mate of mine suggested that I increase my rotor size from the current 160mm to a 180mm on the front in order to increase my braking power. Is this the case ? I definitely could use some increased stopping power on my mountain bike, I had a few close calls on Joberg2C and on 3 Towers last year on a few of the descents.
  5. only getting the wheel back after Sani2C, it got left with the organisers in Scottburgh, have a feeling it was spring issues as well, will check when I have it back and let you know.
  6. 90 minute drive to race + entry + 90 minute drive back makes me more than a little pissed If that pissed you off try Stage 3 Joberg2C 60km in and freewheel goes, also American Classics. Team mate pushed me for 3km into the next waterpoint, mobile mechanic gave me a spare wheel to get to the finish.
  7. Hi All, Does anyone know of any any early morning road rides in the Benoni area for ladies specifically ? I know Tour De Frans has a ladies ride on Wednesday mornings but no other days. Thanks
  8. Nope, it's definitely still open to cyclists, was there last weekend
  9. Definitely won't skip breakfast, even with a shake or drink, I eat like a horse before a ride.
  10. I have read a few articles on stage races such as Joberg2C and The Epic and noticed that you should have a pre-race drink for breakfast. What is a pre-race drink ? I'm assuming a high carb shake from Evox or USN etc.
  11. Thanks fo the replies, think I'll go with the Geax.
  12. Hi All, I start Joberg2c next week Friday and need a new tyre on the back wheel. I currently ride Conti Mountain Kings but cannot find their UST tyres anywhere due to a global Conti shortage. I have used Kenda Nevegal's before but went through 3 tyres in 6 months due to tears etc so clearly not the most reliable tyres. Can anybody suggest an alternative brand & model that is similar to the Mountain King, priorities are reliabilty and grip, not concerned about weight, looking for a 2.2inch UST. Thanks
  13. Get a Magic Shine MJ816 from www.easybike.co.za I paid R1,000 for mine, great light at a great price.
  14. I have been riding my American Classics for a year now with no problems, I have not had to have them straightened at all. Very light and not at a bad price either.
  15. Thanks, What is the difference in ingredients and mode of action between Epic Pro and Cytomax ? Is one much better than the other ?
  16. Cool, thanks for the advice.
  17. Already got the Pepto Pro so agree there, but why would you say Epic Pro over the Epic Turbo for the J2C, isn't Epic Turbo intended for endurance events ? thinking to use it about 2 hours from the finish each stage ? Thanks for the feedback. PS, would love to use the Epic Pro as my regular carb drink but just can't afford to, I put back about 3L of Cytomax on a 5-6 hour ride and if you work out the cost per litre the Epic is way more than the Cytomax.
  18. I bought a tub of USN's Epic Turbo Race Fuel, I have used it 3 times, with the 1st 2 uses I got a rash over my upper body and face, my Joberg2C team mate used it yesterday for the 1st time and also got an upper body rash. It works like a bomb and we will definitely use it for the J2C, has anybody else experienced similar symtoms ? Also I see you should use it 2 hours from the end of a race, do you take it all at once or sip it over the last 2 hours ?
  19. Any idea where the photos from the event will be posted ?
  20. Was a damn tough ride, the mud was insane, I think I'm in for a new drive train . My pedal body came off the spindle at the 45km mark which made the 2nd half of the race quite interesting, had to keep constant pressure on the crank arm to keep the pedal body on. Eventually finished in a 6h15m
  21. Hi, are there any bike shops on the east rand that stock the new handlebar mount ?
  22. I agree with Just Keep Pedaling to a degree. I was there around mid December till just before Christmas, the difference is I didn't just go for the riding and had a really good time with the family. The resort itself is very nice and there is a lot to do with the kids so overall we were happy, if however I went just for the riding I would have been very unhappy. The trails in the resort were nice, but short +-7/8km. I did a longish ride off the property with Garth, the resort manager, +-40km or so which was excellent, however I'm not sure if I would have found my way by myself. In Tread they also do not mention that many of the trails are under construction so the advertising is misleading, I was quite annoyed that the advertised kids trail was "still under construction" i.e. non-existent. To me if you are looking for a pure riding holiday go to Mankele, it is brilliant, if you want something with some riding but also a lot of stuff for the family to do then Misty Valley wins hands down. PS I found all the staff apart from the receptionist to be very friendly and knowledgable.
  23. Just got back from a holiday at Misty Valley Lodge, can definitely reccomend the place. Riding was good with a variety of 8-10km trails on the farm that vary from easy to quite technical. Did one longer ride on a neighbouring farm with Garth (resort manager), some flippin awsome riding there. The nice thing is that the place does not only cater for riders, there is entertainment for the whole family (and good baby sitting, so the wife and I could do a few rides together). Will definitely go back in the future.
