  1. Thanks Wendell. Rallying up some troops
  2. Entry fee on this one?
  3. *perk* ... is this a first for the event?
  4. No but you could build your own. http://forums.mtbr.com/drivetrain-shifters-derailleurs-cranks/10s-11-39-cassette-647456.html
  5. 11-39 cassette then...
  6. Sometimes you learn that lesson early on in life. Sometimes later. Varsity costs more than primary school fees. Sorry dude, it sucks.
  7. You need one of those cars that was used in yesterday's attack on that european oke in bedfordview
  8. MTB Silverback vida 29er M frame with 3x10 XT groupset, SLX brakes, Reba RLT fork, AC race wheels with ralphs All components bought new, total cost R11.6k, 11.6kg. @ R1 / gram, it turns out that my bike is actually 300 - 500 times cheaper than coke. All those "cycling is as addictive as drugs, but more expensive" posts can now safely be considered null & void. Don't do drugs. Ride a bike.
  9. i can manage a pavement on flats, not enough experience yet (flat pedal manifesto was right). However, I am yet to pull a 180 degree barrel role while staying on the bike with flats....
  10. I wonder if you can use your bike to fill in the registration forms at events? they may have to cater for leaving a little tip at the back, and when sell it with a sharpener.
  11. its conductive (electricity - about as much so as copper, and heat pretty well too), so not sure about re-entry.
  12. Here's the original image I saw on an FB post. The material itself isn't expensive to make, however I imagine there's patents pending (it was discovered in 2010) and lots of moola pumped into R&A, so initially gonna cost lots to repay investments and make a small number of people silly-rich. It's clear, conducts electricity and heat, and has loooots of applications. Here's a photo of it.
  13. http://easycycling.com/graphene-is-this-the-new-carbon-fiber-for-bikes/ I saw something saying that it would take the equivalent force of an elephant balanced on a pen to break through a single sheet of graphene (1 atom thick).
  14. On the topic of twitter....
  15. +1. I started riding clipped in, cos "that's the way things are done". I'm still riding clipped in. A pair of 5-10's + flats is high up on my "to purchase" list, and keen to do a bit of unclipped riding. I quote that article when introducing new people to riding now: "Riding flat pedals makes you better. Riding clipped in makes you faster" or something to that effect.
  16. the plague of punctures. sad I missed this one
  17. Or trying to be picked up using cheesy cycling-related pick-up lines.
  18. 15% of challenge completed. 1 week of busy work followed by a week of flu followed by a knee injury = a lot less riding over the last month than i wanted to
  19. I've seen people the size of Kenyan families.
  20. i dunno how you got hold of my missus, but i don't appreciate you talking to her about this behind my back. topic over.
  21. And then bring them cocktails and flowers beer in hospital
  22. I think its a damn good approach for getting in intro to an obvious hottie. Or jigghead
  23. I wonder if I'd come last stoned?
  24. very nice, much appreciated Dubber.
