  1. The 2015 KZNMTB Downhill Series came to a thrilling close on the 19th April with the 3rd and final round being held at Giba MTB Park outside Pinetown. The technical albeit short Downhill track at Giba Gorge did not disappoint, with overcast but dry and dusty conditions greeting the riders for morning practice. Click here to view the article
  2. KZN's premiere MTB Park, Giba Gorge near Pinetown played host to the 3rd and final round of the KZNMTB Enduro and Downhill Series presented by NMI-DSM, on the 18th and 19th April. The Enduro event took place on Saturday 18th, attracting a field of 120 riders who would battle it out for final points over four dusty, loose stages. Click here to view the article
  3. JPD ... unfortunately as it is just Morne, Dave and I doing the Enduro and DH, (and we have other jobs) the time to write articles is few and far between ... I will see if Dave can muscle something up to send to Nick for publication .... But What I can say is the Enduro is 3 stages with 2 being SHUTTLED to the DH start ... One will most likely start in the World Cup start gate .... Then for the DH - the track will be similar to the 2013 Masters World Cup track using a slightly altered line in Cloud 9 and Pebble beach.

  6. That track looks awesome. Wish we had rocks like that here in KZN. Nice to see a big crowd ... 67 riders is pretty good. But where are all the ladies? Only 2?
  7. Perfect sunny South African summer conditions greeted a field of 87 Downhillers at the first round of the 2015 KZN MTB Downhill Series presented by NMI-DSM in Karkloof on the 8th February. Click here to view the article
  8. The picturesque Karkloof Valley just outside Howick near Pietermaritzburg played host to Round 1 of the 2015 KZN MTB Enduro Series presented by NMI-DSM. Click here to view the article
  9. It would actually be interesting to see how many events there are on the calendar in SA ... I know our KZN Calendar has about 107 events through the year - and thats JUST KZN ...
  10. 63 events in 52 weeks ... EISH ... Then add in the number of one day events and it gets ludicrous.
  11. didnt buy too much this week ... just a passport to Nomad-land

  14. Great initiative Peach ... Are you going to teach people how to crash like you did in your avatar too?? .... hahaha No guys and girls ... to be honest Peach has tons of skills and can teach us all a thing or too ...

  18. its just the mindset of the industry here ... I went for a ride yesterday with the guys from my old shop - and even my mate Jason who used to ride DH ... was saying "Why do you want another bike that has 150mm of travel? - rather go for a 125mm travel bike ....Then i reminded him what i did to my last 120mm bike (cracked in 3 places) and he changed his tune ... They all said (while furiously pedalling their 29ers up hill) that if i had a 29er hardtail that weighed 9kg i would be way quicker up the hills and be able to keep up ... To which i replied that i dont care about going up ... and this was shown immediately as we rode a number of new sections down and they all got smoked - so much so that Jason ate it twice - and he is a flipping competent rider. But its because so many people just want a light race bike and not a fun play bike that that is how your mind gets tuned to react like ...
  19. RAD - nice one guys! ... hahahaha been there tried that too - Tried to do Bushmans nek to Drak Gardens with my ballie when I was 14 ... Also took like 5 hours compared to the 2 it should have taken .... So much portaging its insane ... but the experience is WELL worth it! Next time maybe scout the trail on foot first though .. hahaha
  20. World cup experience! Thats the biggest factor. Easy to get to euro world cups. Also lots of local riders at national events etc. Like 400 odd riders at a regional! !!!
  21. But im surprised that the uci didnt make the Norway crew build that jump bigger to be safer. Last year okes were over jumping it too. Just plain dangerous
  22. Broken ankle is ok to come back from with something like that the tendon damage takes awhile to fix. But he should be fine for next year
  23. Rat was doff. Threw it away. Neko! What a run. But if he had had a chain I doubt that he would have done as well. Would have overcooked it somewhere. That really made him ride clever and smooth. Bummed for sam but thats worlds you put it all on the line and those are the risks
  24. golden fields, golden light, golden bike! .... WIN!
  25. Hows brycelands inside line on the rock gardens exit! .... Compare this with Troy who was all over the show http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/features/Vital-Raw-Hafjell-Thursday-Practice,26855/Steel-City-Media,14510
