  1. What ever happened to this chap? Does anyone have tabs on his whereabouts and dealings at the moment?
  2. Sounds like you need a DH bike as opposed to an Enduro style set up Commencal, Intense (😍), Santa Cruz etc is where I'd start hunting, and will look for a 200mm+ rear travel set up, possibly even in a mullet if needed And safety gear - I'd definatley invest in good safety gear, XC spandex wont do much on an OTb for you
  3. I do the same. Once the tyre is on the rim and prepped and you're ready to give it a good pomp, I take a sponge with dishwashing liquid and water mix (just a little dishwashing liquid) and use it as lube between the bead and the rim (I coat the entire way around). Use the steps as Morne says and it pops on quite easily. I do this for mtb tyres
  4. Dont get confused between 50L and 50L/min In compressor speak, the 50L means the tank size, not the flow rate. Or 100L is the tank size and not the flow rate. Usually any compressor with a tank will be suitable to seat tyres. The little 6L version that Lukelan posted above is fine as it has a tank which will help discharge a sufficient amount of air to seat the tyre. It might not be enough to seat and get to the correct presssure, but this is fine as the compressor will start up and recharge the tank to allow you to inflate the tyre to the desired pressure. If you buy a 100L or 200L compressor to just seat tyres, good luck in finding the desired space in your garage to store the thing.
  5. I was at the finish - was playing taxi to a few pals. The competitors that finished on dual suspension bikes seemed a lot happier than the gravel bikers for those reasons I think its progressed from a 100miler mtb race to a 100miler balls to the wall racing gravel bike race. It just might seem the organisers havent noticed this yet and have kept the route a mtb race. That being said, I am gobsmacked by the finishing times for the top riders (which were slower than last year) - an amazing feat of endurance over that distance. The new finish area was pretty well organised with plenty of seating areas and shade. Only downside was you needed a 4th bond on your house just to buy a beer or food! And that auntie with the whistle and loudhailer.... please let it be and leave the darn noise machines at home next time
  6. Yeah, you're right. Theres just too many sheeople accepting its correct, for me to butt against
  7. Doing what job well? Ensuring the teller invoiced me correctly? He didnt check ownership at all, thats the service departments job not his. He didnt check the workmanship either, probably didn't care. I believe its his job to prevent thieves coming in or out the door, not be the back up check to the tellers. We all know the system is wrong, yet most agree with it. Funny how we get brainwashed into things being right 43 Irvin, 43 years ive been around this plot of land trying to keep sanity
  8. Oh shoot, sorry, you're right. I miss read it. Seems to be a lot of that going on this thread, slurs, insults over opinions etc. Ill change it. My apologies to the community
  9. Thank you for the kind offer. Im not so keen on getting an offer of any sorts to sniff my ass so I'll have to give your workshop a skip. Thank you again though, one's generosity is always a sign of their intentions. I do appreciate that You have a good day now
  10. If its stolen from inside the store by a passer by, then the store insurance will cover it because their security personal on site is not doing their intended job. I do agree it is also my responsibility to ensure that my bike is looked after by myself. In your instance, it would not be 'safely' parked off to one side or even allowed to be taken away from me during the payment process, so I guess its a moot point then, right? There is no point in being treated like a criminal if the shop systems are changed. Grocery stores dont do it yet they have products which is of much more day to day value than a gas bomb or a tube of lube or a set of brake pads. Heck, i bet the guy that paid for the R56 650 road bike next to me had to endure the same check on his new ride on exit all because they dont trust the personel that assmebled it or rang it up for payment. Shame I tell you Anyway, Im done. As they say in 'Murica - Happy Tuesday to you
  11. I had a brake bleed. What bag is there to check? And if i did have a bag, the staff member behind the counter packed it under the watchful eye of the security guard anyway, and i must be searched/checked because of their inefficiencies in not trusting the staff behind the counters anyway? You say africa is like it is, its because people accept it. You may, i dont, protracted and all
  12. You funny people you. Its the part being treated like a criminal when trying to exit a shop, because they dont trust their own staff. Note i did say i was even happy with the price and time frame of the brake bleed, is that not good enough for happy service or did you miss that part? Cynical much? LBS's dont follow that same warehouse mentality you seem to promote Ag you wont understand. Go live overseas for a bit and it'll change your perspective on how customers should be treated, even at warehouse style stores
  13. ... Never mind, I'll take my money elsewhere. Thats way better than a scintillating google review. As you were
  14. I needed a back brake re-bled and called CL in fourways to see if they could help (only reason is that i was 2km away from them and it suited my route for the day). I know a brake bleed is not the end of the world so i gave them the benefit of the doubt. On the call i asked if it could be a wait for it job and they advised that due to being a little busy it'll be about a 2 hour or so wait. Win so far, i didnt mind that as i had other errands in the area. I promtly relieved a call shortly afterwards informing me i need this done, that done, some other sh*t done etc, to which i promptly replied back that if they didnt understand my first instruction then its best i draw them a picture what i wanted done instead. Fine, we move on Get there 2 hours later to collect the bike and its plastered with CL stickers in case some parts go missing.... now i must clean that crap off I head over to pay and all is good. Im one of two at the counter and proceed to hand over a few beer coupons (not a bad proce i thought) I then get lynched by the security on my way out insisting he checks my till slip. I demanded thay he first remove the tag off my bike before we proceed. Once done, he checks my slip as if i am the criminal stealing and not to be trusted... its actually his job to make sure the tellers do their job but he makes it out as if you, the customer, is the criminal. I will do my utmost to avoid them in future, much like the same treatment you get at builders warehouse on exit I should have rather supported an LBS in the area, they don't give you the same **** treatment as CL does. Rant off, bye bye CL
  15. 30.9mm Rapide seat post for anyone that needs it. Mahala to you. Nothing wrong with the post at all, ive just changed it for a dropper instead If you want special postage, send me a beer coupon
  16. Most brands have a youtoobe channel to show you how to install etc. Pretty simple in this modern era
  17. Its actually very simple to be honest. If you can change a tyre you can install a dropper. Look for one that you can service yourself without being tied to an agent. Lyne and One Up, Bikeyoke get the vote here
  18. It depends on what cable fittings the Bikeyoke needs compared to the RS. As an example: The Xfusion needs the cut end to be on the dropper fixed to it with a grub barrel. The Lyne is the other way around with the lug end on the dropper and the cut end on the remote. The Xfusion is a pain in the rear end to get the lengths correct because of the cut end being where it is. The lyne is almost fit and not have to worry about removing it multiple times to get the length correct - win for the Lyne here
  19. Sent you a wa, need to get those rotors and bar to you still
  20. Thanks Barry, I'll take 3 carbon rings please. Thats all i really need. Please pm me details for posting/collect and delivery of chocolate
  21. Anyone have 2 x 5mm headset spacers lying around? Willing to pay in beer coupons
  22. I agree, lets get the truth. Its obviously not going to happen here, so lets wait for the (great) authorities, yes? Im really not sure how you see my remark of please read properly and leave me out of it as a cake eating exercise. That would imply that I am pushing to promote my opinion as the gospel truth, whereby I am not. If I had said "guess what I heard..." would that have made you read it differently and respond to my comment differently? Perhaps yes, perhaps not. My opening remark is as it stands, I am connected to a riding group that knows the motorbike driver. To what huge implication do you refer? Does that make me in automatic agreement with the info I provided? You seem to think it does. Does it make me accoutable to what I transcribed, Yes it would. Does it give you the right of emotional reply? Certainly not. A factual reply, yes sure. Lambasting myself or every motorcyclist out there in the reply doesnt give you the right of reply either. Whilst I do not endorse the actions of either road user, it by no means attributes any blame game from me to who was right or wrong in this case. You seem to think I am automatically for the motorbike driver and all forms of holiganism that is attributed to all evil people on 2 wheels with more than a few horse power avialable to them. There is clear arguments for the pro's and con's of each road user in this entire thread (not only in this instance), and my info provided here is merely to highlight what is said on the otherside of the fence. I do, however, recognise that this might be a bit close to home to many cyclists in the area - perhaps you too, but please dont think for a second that I condone the actions of any road user that steps out of line. In closing, all users of the road know that it is an inherently dangerous game we all play everytime we get onto it, be in in a car, a bus, a taxi (heaven forbid), etc, and if you choose to increase that risk by using a patricularly dangerous part of the network of roads available then that is your choice, not mine. My love for the south african road and its users has diminished far beyond what you can imagine. Mosty people avaoid these areas becuase of the risks involved. Period As for the cyclist, I am very sorry for what happened to him and for where he is right now. I sincerely hope he will be on his bike again soon enough
  23. Yeah, you're right. Lets keep it one sided then. As you were
  24. No, you obviously didnt read the part where i said dont take your emotions out on me as the poster. No i wasnt there, and as i clearly stated i am merely passing on information. You decided on your own to bring emotions into it, not me. Perhaps take a breather then post again without emotional input, or go see someone about it as you could be traumatised by the event. Im not being sarcastic about it either As for the local authorities, there you and I agree but the outcome is not going to be decided here in the local court of social media, is it?
  25. You clearly didnt read my last paragraph did you? Let the authorities sort it out then, yes?
