  1. … and their reverse swing subsequently disappeared (after sandpapergate).
  2. Love when some of the bants gets out though, especially Quinny’s offside bants at Kingsmead to Warner about his missus and SBW. Not so witty, but cutting. My fave cricket-related quip results from a banquet at which a mischievous blonde Afrikaans friend was seated next to Curtly Ambrose. She leaned closer to ask him “I love your height Mr Ambrose, is everything in proportion?” “Lady, if everything was in proportion I’d be nine foot tall” he shot right back.
  3. This thread is echoeing. Wait, is this Groundhog Day, again? ????
  4. Indeed. You notice that my comment was initiated with "If you’re referring to bike thefts”? Having defended male and female friends and two unknown women from violent crimes (one a streetside assault by two West African men and the other preventing the rape of a teen girl) and having beat down and caught one of a group of violent home invaders (same guy who later pulled the trigger in Jayde Panayioutou’s murder) I’m well familiar with violent crime. I still have the scar from that knife wound on my hand. Since you wish to specifically discuss violence, the UN report on sexual trafficking reveals that the Netherlands and Italy are by far the largest “clients” of women and teen girls coercively trafficked from Africa. Grass ain’t always greener elsewhere. Violent crime is hardly a uniquely SA phenomenon. British news media has almost daily reports of teens stabbing and macheteing and shooting one another, I read daily. The fact remains that cycle theft happens far more often in the Netherlands than in SA. Check for yourself. I’m simply grateful for this gent and his family that he survived this horrific bikejacking.
  5. If you’re referring to bike thefts, Amsterdam is the ultimate sh*thole. If "one day is one day”, don’t move to the Netherlands. Ask any local or anyone who’s lived there, it’s so bad that every bike is expected to be stolen. Amsterdam solution? Steal one yourself. Bike theft has been the number one crime in all of the Netherlands every year for a VERY long time.
  6. I see that the “glass houses” and “ let those without sin” idioms are still in business. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/azeem-rafiq-ashamed-after-historic-anti-semitic-exchange-comes-to-light-1290047 PS. One thing: Ain’t no person ever pulling any skeletons from any of my closets, I’ll tell them first. ????
  7. Ya did. ????????
  8. Am interested in knowing where you get that info?

  11. There is precedent for that. SA were made to replay a match they’d won against Senegal after the Ghanaian officials were deemed to be match fixing with biased decisions. The Ghanaian officials were banned from the sport for life. SA lost the replay and Senegal were sent to the WC instead of SA. After last weekend’s match, I’m inclined to think there’s an unholy cheating alliance between Ghana and Senegal. Just writing that ‘cos those things happened. I just don’t watch any SA or continental soccer any more, we’re terrible. For many years SA’s national team has been ranked below Syria, a country that hasn’t had any soccer stadiums for almost 10 years now. We are kaaaak, we should simply cancel SA soccer. I’m struggling to get my head around the severity of Rassie Erasmus’ ban, or any ban at all. Archaic regulations if he’s not allowed to simply point out dodgy decisions. He’s not accusing refs of dishonesty or cheating, after all. The two New Zealanders chairing the hearing seem to show evidence of bias themselves: “We have no reason to doubt the genuineness of his (Siya’s) feelings. However, that is not the same as asserting as a fact that he had been disrespected nor that those feelings are correct,” the verdict read. “During his testimony, Nic Berry told us that he had “massive respect” for Siya Kolisi as a person and as a player. We accept without reservation Nic Berry’s evidence that he, and his officiating team, did not intentionally disrespect Siya Kolisi.” Somehow Kolisi’s lived experience was diminished by the panel as not being “a fact”, yet Berry and his team’s actions were unintentional. The panel “without reservation” accepted Berry’s version, but had reservations about Kolisi’s feelings. Staggering. - Craig Ray https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2021-11-18-rassie-erasmus-banned-from-matchday-activities-for-10-months-by-world-rugby/
  12. How surprised was I to have him turn up with a mutual mate at one of my all-night house parties in Walmer. Chilling in my kitchen with Kombuis. PS. Just remembered, the late Syd Kitchen arrived for another of those parties.
  13. Alrighty!
  14. I must count myself very lucky that supermarket and liquor store and pharmacy staff look out for us, they insist that I lock my bikes inside next to security. If only I didn’t love me ol' cars, I have no need for them. Presies. My black labbie and I were in time to prevent the rape of a teen girl behind shrubs around the corner from my home. Convicted of assault with GBH. Definitely must intervene.
  15. When your own sponsor trolls you. ???????????????? I scored well with this bet: Spurs failed to get a single shot on target for two successive matches, the first time it’s occurred in the entire history of the premier league. If only there’s a trophy for that sort of thing?
  16. ???? Here’s hoping. No one can count WH out.
  17. “VAR 100% wrong, Everton penalty, Tottenham never looked like scoring, terrible, very poor game of football, very uncharacteristic for the premier league.” - Tim Sherwood “It’s not a clear and obvious error, 100% wrong, it’s not possible for us to still be debating it, it’s NOT a clear and obvious error. I’m pleased, BUT it’s WRONG. Everton penalty.” - Sherwood
  18. Farke wins and Farke’s off.
  19. That 3-0 win over Tottenham may well be costly to United, the Mirror is reporting that Conte held off on signing while waiting to hear about OGS’s sacking. He was hoping to go to Man U.
  20. Watch this space, it’s a rebuild project already paying off with the youngest squad by far. Another 6 academy trainees promoted to first squad training this week. Another factoid: With Nic Jover as the new set-piece coach, Gooners have turned into the team with the highest percentage of set-piece goal conversions in the league. Fascinating season, can’t wait to see Conte’s moves.
  21. Bit of a false flag false equivalency statement, the gaffer has got rid of a host of plonkers that he inherited including the entire back line. Leno, Luiz, Papasthopoulos, Torreira, Ozil, Nelson, Maitland-Niles, Bellerin. Most revealing:
  22. Good on you. I seriously doubt that Conte would have signed if he hadn’t been given significant authority, unlike with his predecessor. Just rumour for now but it seems that Conte may get quite a sizeable kitty for the next transfer window.
  23. Good luck, mate. I feel a bit sorry for that old geezer Gary Mabbutt, he hadn’t yet been born when they last took the league. Despite him playing all but one match, Kane has the least number of attempts by any striker in any of the top 5 Euro leagues, old man Mabbutt may have to wait a bit longer. ????
  24. That aged well innit? As that LB guy said: "Yeah, but no, but yeah …" Someone said this in August? A month or two after the manager was given £140 million for a squad rebuild? Odd. NOT happening.
