  1. It’s size 53 so probably only a 500ml water bottle at the best
  2. Ja nee, at my age KOMs are not a factor, I use strava mostly to “spy” on my friends. There is a time trail series (running and cycling) that I do every year which uses strava to record the participants times and other data like meters climbed. It will be interesting to see if this would still work in 2025.
  3. Reading this makes me wonder if it’s not time to go back to the simple life…..like when I used to run with a Timex Iron Man indiglo with electroluminescent lighting and track my training by recording the times in a diary…. Distances where mostly a thumb suck or measured by driving the route, unless it was a club TT or race. Elevation / meters climbed, heart rate, watts……….Pfffft
  4. Ja nee true, this place seriously needs an unrestricted thread where moderators are 🚫 Edit: This morning I toyed with the idea of starting a topic regarding the US election, but suspected it would be a waste of time due to moderation. Let’s hope they who yield the “thread locked” button don’t opt for the lazy option of locking the whole thread.
  5. Viva Trump The world needs a distraction from our current goat show. World news could be great again for the next 4 years if he gets in.
  6. The bit in bold…. Also been out of running for a few months due to non running related knee injury. Lots of physio exercises (physios can conjure up an unlimited amount of weird exercises that you never heard of until physio 😂) and yesterday day I managed a 4km walk / run on the treadmill with no knee pain. I’m not in your league of distance running but I hope slowly slowly getting back into it, that the trend continues.
  7. Wonder if Poggi will get 7 of those once a year races? The way he’s going it’ll be 21 once a year races 🤪
  8. I still maintain there could be “open” thread under chit chat where just about anything goes, if the “discussions” boil over from their into the normal threads then the guilty parties are banned for 12 months. #Nevergoingtohappen
  9. Howzit Popit The difference is pog is such a nice guy and didn’t kill anyone….
  10. Once bitten twice shy, I’ve been down this road with he who may not be mentioned before. I believe that there was enough horsepower in the peleton to bring him back as soon as he broke away and that the other top contenders mucked it up by letting him get away. Although it could be said that the gamble to let him go nearly paid off at the end…..but the other top contenders suffered the usual roadie rubber neck syndrome of looking backwards instead of forwards
  11. So “ek gee jou n p klap” has been replaced with “talk to my lawyer”
  12. The guy is so good it becomes unbelievable. i mean how can 1 guy amongst all the worlds elite level cyclists be so much better than the others ?
  13. Since when did South Africans become like Americans and their lawyer talk? @matt and @nick one thing that irritates me with the bikehub now is every time I login it takes me to the classifieds home page, I never use the classifieds so it’s a nuisance. Is there a way for me to change it to go directly to the forums home page?
  14. https://zurich2024.com/en/togetherweride-for-muriel/ Yesterday at 3pm I received an email saying the city race has been cancelled and instead will be a memorial ride. TBH I’m not happy with the decision having entered (entry fee = CHF 152 / ZAR 3000 in May) and planned my whole summer training accordingly. Earlier the organizers made an announcement that the world championships would continue because the parents of the deceased rider said that’s what she would have wanted. Then less than 24 hrs before the race they change it to a paced memorial ride for the citizens race. The entry fee is not an issue, they will refund it but heck I was looking forward to the race. Memorial Ride instead of the City Race The City Race planned for Sunday, 29 September 2024 will not take place. Instead, there will be a guided Memorial Ride in memory of Muriel Furrer. Participation is free of charge. In addition, a central place of mourning will be set up at the Wasserkirche in Zurich. Following the tragic death of young Swiss cyclist Muriel Furrer, the Local Organising Committee of the UCI Cycling and Para-Cycling Road World Championships Zurich 2024 (LOC), in consultation with the International Cycling Union (UCI), Swiss Cycling and Muriel’s family, has decided to hold a Memorial Ride instead of the planned City Race. The Memorial Ride is open to anyone who, together with the LOC, the UCI and Swiss Cycling, would like to support and comfort Muriel’s family, friends and the entire cycling community in these difficult hours. Participation is free of charge. The start time will be brought forward to 7.15 am due to the slower pace. Participants can gather at Bellevue after the start/finish area from 7 am. According to the race programme, the handbike road race in the MH4 category will then open the official race day. Ticket holders of the City Race can choose whether they would like to have the purchase price refunded by Ticketmaster or whether this amount should be used as a contribution to the youth activities of the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation, the main charity partner of the World Championships, and Swiss Cycling.
