  2. One of the reasons why we bought automatics......I still reach for my seat belt on the wrong side, as if I was driving a RH drive car Nice to see someone has sunshine, we have well and truly moved into fog season on planet Zug

    Hot Foot

I use mtb shoes and pedals on all my bikes, mtb shoe cleat slots are easier to modify than road shoes. I then mark out the extra 12 mm length in line with the existing slots with a marker pen, then use a dremel and rat tile file to cut the cleat slots. You cant go to far backward this way because the curved shape of the sole tends to make the cleat engagement less secure (unclips to easy), i also lower my saddle height a few mm's to accommodate for slightly less ankle leverage. Its basically a compromise between mid foot cleat and normal cleat positioning Have a look at this article by Steve Hogg which deals with cleat positioning POWER TO THE PEDAL - CLEAT POSITION - The Steve Hogg Bike Fitting Team

Some good suggestions already made previously, start with the easy fixes and progress to the more expensive ones (new shoes, podiatrist orthotics….) if the easy options don’t work. I had the same problem for years, tried all the suggestions above and ONLY 1 of them worked for me, moving the cleats all the way back and then another 12mm further…… to do this I had to modify my cycling shoes… pain in the arse but once it’s done then I can cycle all day with no foot pain. Busy modifying my latest set of shoes (Lake mtb) now
  11. Manuals and wheelies... belong in show off category and i learnt loooong time ago that i'm useless at showing off wheeling If you insist, then try practice on a sports field with soft grass Sorry to hear of your accident, good luck for your recovery ????
  12. Did you prematurely enter... (hit the enter key)? Pitchas please ????
  13. Late 90’s early 2000’s I had a suspension seat post (Alien) on my hard tail , it was brilliant for absorbing all those little bumps, corrugations, veld grass tufts etc…. BUT Joh….due to the sag factor it was a mission to get on the bike if you were on a slope or somewhere tricky…. Due to slightly higher seat required.
  14. I’m guessing there is a time schedule, if you fall out of the time schedule you will be told to pull out / retire from the race. very difficult to remain ahead of the broom bus once you are dropped. plus, most of these guys are pro’s and would rather save themselves for another day if they cannot compete or provide further support for the team leader.
  15. Simply WOW!! excluding a gravel fiets, that’s the one bike I would consider getting..... a hard tail, if it could be based on a frame like yours would be nice ????
  16. Gravel bikes IMO are just another marketing ploy by the bike manufacturers to create another cycling branch to boost their income. Good luck and enjoy them as long as it gets people out onto their bikes. We all get suckered into marketing ploys, cell phones, computers, cars etc etc… so why not buycycles ????
  17. Yes and no, CSA could do something similar independently by sending young riders over to Europe to race at a lower level to gain experience and exposure. CSA would need to make use of their European contacts with other federations to find place for these riders to stay, train and race. My wife and I did something similar in that we provided free accommodation and meals for a young mtb rider for one summer to come and race all over Europe. This allowed them the chance to be exposed to a much higher level of competition at more affordable price tag, otherwise the costs become to much for the rider and their sponsors / Parents ????
  18. Been saying the same thing for years, they should set up a base somewhere in Europe where all the youngsters with potential can go stay, live, train and race in the euro scene Of course this will cost real money, so easier said then done

  21. Common practice by the bike shops here without asking, all the bikes i bought here have one.... I don't like it, but being the amicable type i just let it slide... I like Pappwatrap's idea above....think I'll send a few invoices just to see the reaction next time i walk into the shop ????
