  1. What’s happening runners, gone very quite this thread has The great Diaspora Discord? Anyone got a review or experience running in “On” running shoes that they can share? https://www.on-running.com/en-ch/ I'm not convinced, but seem to see a lot of them here ???????? Ive just changed back to ASICS Gel Kayano 28’s, my feet are liking them for their great cushioning!
  2. And then (sorry OP, for not posting current manufacturers) there was Hanson and Alpina...... both of which I had the pleasure of riding their Columbus SLX tubed road bike variants Can’t say I never supported SA bike manufacturers ????
  3. Dave replaced my frame under warranty due to a small crack on the top of the seat tube cap... was not a structural crack only cosmetic. I brought that frame to Switzerland and ended up giving it to a friend of mine here when I became a Spez collector ???? As far as I know it’s now used an IDT bike, although my friend had a life threatening work related accident and does not ride anymore
  4. Yebo, I still own a Patrick Morewood built Zula frame that I imported into Switzerland and had built up here by a LBS. Excelent frame but the paint quality was not so great. There was also a brand called Exocet, produced in joburg ( Roodepoort ) by a chap called Dave Freeman. I bought a triathlon frame from him in the last 90’s, tear drop shaped custom made aluminum frame. Was a very stiff frame which reminded me of Cannondale frames from the same era.
  5. Hey Spokey, I’m in Punta Cana (Dominican republic), how about a lift home next Saturday ????
  6. Enjoy the break with your wife Cois one day at a time ????
  7. Ahhhhh the white tribes of Afrika Doomed to say First there was the “when we” tribe, then the “what if” tribe now where is the rugby thread.....
  8. For what its worth... I have the exact same type of cracks on a set of DT Swiss road wheels for a few years and km's, the wheels were built by DT Swiss Switzerland +/- 2004 and sent back after a few rides because the wheels were tinging ang pinging during rides (the same kind of noise when you first ride a newly built wheel) except it never went away. They (DT Swiss) then tensioned the spokes a lot more and they never made another sound and remained true for ever. A few years ago i noticed the cracks and continued riding with them... no problems except my teeth ???? got nervous on fast downhill sections... The bike is now permanently installed on my IDT...
  9. My bet is they were cracked before the ride, who built the wheels up? I'm a bit surprised that you say you don't know which model wheels ????‍♀️, are they your wheels?
  10. What's #2 carrying in his mouth...or is it a camera mounted on the bars optical illusion?
  11. Hi Cois Finally I got around to making a donation (to your Investec acct, payment should come through tomorrow), I hope you can use it to go on holiday with your loved ones. Wishing you all the best and stay strong.
  12. Personally i think the mirage III delta wing aircraft are sexiest of the lot
  13. From personal experience... i ate one of those WW sandwiches they hand out at the end of each stage and remember thinking this sandwich spread on here smells a bit funny....JOH i was so sick that night and the next stage, could not keep any food or liquid down long enough to be absorbed But ja the nature of the event, feeding stations etc.....creates many opportunities for a gogga to invade ones stomach
  14. I second this, great times Grant and Shaper!!
  15. I’ve got 2 in my bike room.... actually 3 if I count my wife’s They are “sleeping” waiting for the revival, although the one is a specialized with the old original style brain shock on the left side and with v brakes so it might be comatose
  16. One thing that I wonder about with my polar, my wife has a polar vantage M and if we run together ( start and stop at the excact same time and route) my vantage V always measures the distance further than her M. Granted the M is the budget version of the V and I think uses a different gps satellite net.... but still I’m tired of hearing her complain about it.. ???? so I will probably end up buying 2 V2’s for Xmas
  17. I started with polar watches before garmin watches came on the market, all my training history is recorded in polar software and i don't plan to change to a different software at this stage. Currently use a polar vantage V for non cycling sports and M460 for cycling. Very happy with them in general. Will upgrade to Vantage V2 one of these days, Xmas..... I have a garmin golf watch and once a edge cycling computer, still prefer my polar
  18. The prologue stage starts i find are the best ones to go to, followed by the individual stage starts.... as you get the chance to walk and mingle with all the team set ups, busses, riders mechanics etc.... we've been to the Monaco and London prologue and stage starts and even managed to stay in the same hotel as some of the teams...Monaco by pure flook we booked into the same hotel as team astana with Oom Lance... ????
