  1. hats off to him. he is trying to do something good and he gets banned for doing so. some people must grow up, stop complaining and see the big picture. It would be a different story if he was just doing it for the fun of it and to be laughed at, but he is not.
  2. RIP. Very sad news
  3. any one know how I can stop the very annoying vibration feeling, with slight squeel, I get when I apply my rear brakes? I was told by the bike shop that its just dust on the pads but iv tried to clean them and even rubed them with fine sandpaper but that doesnt seem to fix the problem. Thanks
  4. insane!!!!!!!
  5. yip its pretty sick there. Although its knows as a ski area I think summers are so much better. Im all honesty though, if you want awesome riding come visit me in Vail, Colorado, USA. There are some SICK trails here and also in Utah. just saying ;) On top of the awesome riding you are above 9000feet, so some good altitude riding
  6. Giant had their launch last week in Calafornia, and they released their catalogs and prices to dealers in the US. Iv already ordered my 2012 bike. The 2012 bikes are very nice and not a huge price jump. Not sure when they will release to the rest of the world, most likely mid September.
  7. if someone send you a gift, say for your birthday, and its even wrapped in wrapping paper, but it is of cycling stuff do you still get charged duty fees. I always thought that a gift/present had no duties!?!
  8. I have noticed I have a hairline fracture on my carbon wheels, near the nipple. Is it safe to ride on or will they buckle under me? I really love riding on the wheels but I dont want them to give up while im riding. Is the anything I could do to avoid it getting worse?

    rim width

so im wanting to get a set of deep section wheel, but i dont know on what rim width to go with. its between 50mm and 80mm. I weigh 65kg's. another option is to go 50mm front and 80mm rear. there is always a slight wind where i live but there are no gusts and it never gets strong enough to be able to push me around. any suggestions will be appreciated
  10. where in the US are you? Im in Vail, CO, and find that craigslist is the best place to sell stuff. I have also bought a lot of stuff from there. Not many bike shops are willing to sell your bike for you but there are some shops that will.
  11. haha. sorry ment get.
  12. so im torn between which bike to get. eithere the specialized epip comp 29er or the giant anthem x 29er 2. both will have the exact same parts on, except for the wheels and fork. Basiclly its down to the rear suspension. the giant also looks hotter imo. please help he decide and its going to be one of these that i will buy so please dont throw in any other bikes. thanks guys
  13. so guys. Please give me your opinion as to which you think is the better rear suspension and please say why. I have only ridden the spec with the brain and it felt really good but really interested in a giant bike with maestro suspension. Thanks guys. appreciate your feed back.
  14. Hi all Please could you give me some advice on this. I am currently living in USA but will be back in SA soon. I have also bought myself abike here which i want to take back with me. Does any one know the procedure I go through when travelling to and arriving in SA with regards to customs and their chargers and if I have to pay VAT or any other tax. If anyone has bought a bike overseas and taken it back to SA with them please give me any details. Thanks
  15. unfortunately its all about finances and/or greed. The organises always want to make a profit(and so they should as its their time), but if there was enough cash in the sport there could definately be a pro tour and there is no reason why Europian races wont come down. we got awsome whether all year round (except for this rain in WP ), very good routes, great variety or terrain and of coarse really hot girls for the podium. Just a thought...instead of eg. Medscheme, DCM, ect sending their riders over to Europe to race why dont they pool that cash into something like a pro tour and invite some Europian teams over. It would be expensive, but so is sendind a team over there for a period of time. clearly they have the finances.
  16. if he's complaining he must go race in Europe. He had the chance but came back. so he must just accept. unfortunately there is not a big enough financial backing to support this 'pro' tour racing in SA. if we did have the finances i doubt it would really increase the level of racing in SA as they will still be racing the same group of riders.
  17. let me know when you are here. ill take you on a good ride in Coetzenburg and Jonkershoek with lots of single track. oh im in Stellenbosch. Otherwise Contimans kloof just outside CT is awsome.
  18. I use my normal tire as its a mission to change tyres if you decide to go for a proper ride. it makes quite a bit of noice but i just put the music louder and havnt had any complaints from next door yet. Its prob better to get a slick tire but its your choice. also another tip to help save your tires and if you run the same tire front and back is swap the tires around every now and again as your back tire will wear out faster, for both the IDT and rollers.
  19. Spin bike is not ideal as your setup will be different to your mtb, but its good for interval work, but pretty expensive. IDT is also good for intervals and less expensive. but you dont have the riding 'feel' as you goint need to balance yourself. also they are pretty loud with mtb tyres. Rollers are the closest feel to riding on the road and is very good for your stability, although it is not the best for doing intervals as you may 'bounce' off the rollers and go into a glass coffee table(yes it happens),but saying that, it is possiable to have a decient hard session. and you also cant stand. I use the rollers most of the time but if I want to do lots of intervals I use the IDT. my 2c

    Mobii GPS

Has anyone heard any reviews on the Mobii GPS that is being advertised on this site? It looks like a good unit but would like to hear if any of you have reviews on how well it works for cycling and running. thanks
