  1. Will a RST M29 fork work with a Giant XTC 29er frame? the reason i ask is because the Giant frame has a tapered steerer tube and the fork is not tapered. I have the correct headset for the frame but do i need the special fork or an additional piece that will make the RST fork work. If so where do I get that 'special piece' thanks
  2. very nice pics. Love riding there but never done Contermans/Hillcrest together. Just out of interest for next time. how do you get over to Hillcrest from Contermans? do you just carry on along the fence line towards the towers or up that almost impossiable single track climb? PS. im also keen to join whoever does the 3climbs. Please let me know. unfortunately can only do it on a weekend though as its a bit far to travel from stellenbosch during the week
  3. i disagree with you. Iv never had a problem with those no glue patches. they allways seem to work for me. Unless a product is really bad, some people will find it works well and others will hate it. But with saying that it is always nice to hear other people opinions about a product.
  4. Does any one know how to or where to get the paint of a bike stripped so as to leave the frame in a metal/steel like colour. thanks
  5. i just carry a bomb with me. never had any problems in over a year. if that doesnt work i phone for help. using OKO (from rad006).
  6. condolences to friends and family. its never nice to hear news like this. especially when one rides on these roads most days
  7. good luck with fighting racetec. i did a 2:50 for argus and according to racetec i did it in 6hours!! they didnt believe me even after i sent them my data from my garmin.
  8. where can i get a CKT? there no shops in Ct that sells them.
  9. Hi all just thought ill'd let you know of my experience with cranck. I saw (as most of you saw) that he was selling his bike bags, so i sent him a PM. I didnt need a bike bag but needed wheel bags and was not happy with spending +-R500 at the bike shops. anyways cut a story short, i received my custom sized wheelbags yesterday in the post all within a week!! the quality is brilliant, and the price (incl overnight postage) was half what i would have paid at the bike shop. my wheels are safe and secure, and he added(asked him to) a valcro strip on both seperate bags so you can attach them together to form 1 single duel bag. Service and quality was awsome. i highly recomend him to anyone. here is a pic of the wheel bags:
  10. maybe he was speaking of andrew warr. he can fix just about anything and car ride a mt bike very very well too
  11. I would just go with the blue seat post then black grips.
  12. nice. I prefer the black and red frame. whats the weight? (Is it me or does it look very similar to the Specialized s-works epic?)
  13. WOW!! that is hot. think i must start pimping out my GT like that. You should look at the seatpost that Rad006 was selling-will go very nicely with your bike.
  14. carbon will absorb more shock that an alu handlebars. besides it looks bling. by just changing the handlebars you wont save that much weight but if you change the stem and seatpost as well you'll notice a difference.
  15. dont do a deep muscle massage. rather go for a light massage. if you tell the physio that you are racing in 2 days time they should know what to do for it to be benificial to you

    Bosal Bike racks

saw a add for them in the new Bicycling. what is the price of them compaired to thule(for the two bike rack that fits in the towbar)?
  17. where did you get them from and how much? I want some
  18. in the menu page go to 'training'. the first option shows 'auto pause/lap'. press enter. where is says 'auto timer pause', press enter to view options. choose 'when stopped'. press enter to confirm. simple as that
  19. its hard to say what the exact relationship is, as on the road you have external factors which will influence you, ie wind/air resistance, hills-up and down, robots, etc. on the trainer you dont have any of these however because you are not moving you dont have an air flow which does effect breathing and you are constintaly peddling so you dont have those short time periods of recovery like when you freewheel down hill or stop at a robot. but i honestly do think that the trainer (depending on the resistance) is slightly harder and a benifit is that you can control your heart rate/watts a lot better.
  20. a few years ago i was doing a race, had my winning time chip on its attachment which you put inbetewwn your fork and skewer. this attachment somehow snapped and so now there there was a slight gap in between the skewer and my fork and therefore my wheel was not on tight. i however did not notice it but then as we went over a bridge and I had to do a little bunnyhop. my front wheel uncliped and went rolling down the hill without me. I landed straight on the fork, snapped it in half and nose dived into the ground. i remember seeing my wheel rolling away from me and thinking " oh ****this is going to hurt"
  21. WTF. . .how does my seeding drop from A to C????
  22. he got the one with butterflies
  23. the conti's are around R750 per tire. Spec make top of the range everything so if you go that way i doubt you will be dissapointed. im currently on maxis monorail UST front, Larsen TT back. I love this combo, and they last pretty long, and weight is not bad at all
  24. they are brilliant all round wheels, i just found that they are not very fast at all. but you can use them in any weather condition and they last pretty long. race kings are very fast and have surprisingly good grip in the wet but they do wear quickly. i would only use them on the back wheel though cause they dont have the best cornering traction. Not sure on the spec. though. but iv got the spec. 'The captain" and i love it. very good in anything,ie, wet, dry, fast, longevity. hope my 2c helps
  25. hey Colonel, are those (second batch) the summer league races?
