  1. probably a slightly apples and lemons comparison, but ASA does seem to run the athletics calendar quite well. the road running races are well spread out and don't seem to clash within a reason, not even over a weekend. The trail running events then seem to fit in amongst themselves despite not being regulated.
  2. This bicycle, called the "RELATIVITY Special", if pedaled at 90 rpm, is designed to travel faster than the speed of light. This is proven by a description of the gear ratios on the sheets seen on the wall behind it. One revolution of the pedals sends the bike 6 times around the earth. (It is part of the art exhibition "Circle of Time" that Pat Chirapravati curated now on display at California State University, Sacramento).
  3. I don't think DSTV even knows if DSTV is covering it.
  4. since this is where the chit chat is happening, i just removed the year from the topic title. I haven't followed it too much, but Beers looks like he's found another diesel to klap it for the Win again.
  5. ma ha ha ha ha. you okes and your optimistic longterm forecast with 5% certainty factors. wait till 4 days out, if it is SE from sat to monday, then you know it will be SE on the day. just the time it picks up and severity will move. if not. wait till 48 hours out. no matter what, you still have to ride!

  7. don't ask!! Chappies strava segment. the fastest time set here not on Argus day sits in 170th position. BO'C on a DDT training camp ride. https://www.strava.com/segments/942035?filter=overall
  8. these again
  9. i have not checked my messages for years So you used a spare/new number and could see an immediate deluge of spam calls? Good work, please name and shame the race organiser/entry system. In unrelated news, I had to use webtickets the other day to enter a race. They use your id number to fill in the date of birth/sex field - I support people who do their best to make things easier for you.

  11. Since we are in the 14 day window, it's time to post the 5% confidence factor weather predictions. Accuweather has a south Easter. Booyakasha
  12. Imagine the guys at Grandstand are trolling him? Just took his money and he rocks up to the registration and they tell him he's not on the list. If I was one of the many, many people still owed money by this guy, then I'd kick up a fuss that he's now doing this very premium race and can no longer claim poverty. What he is done is bad for the industry and this is a public way to bring that all to a head. *Then again, maybe his lucky partner fronted up the cash and the mighty B has promised his share of the ticket for the past 6 months already, but you know "things have happened".
  13. het Chris al gery?
  14. awesome. I don't think anyone confuses these two, where they overlap is probably a varying perspective. bikehub had a reputation for being quite a wild place at times, okes from COFBA would gang up and try give you your opinion. That was kind of stamped out about a decade ago.
  15. A lot of online discussion has moved to whatsapp. Which is not as powerful as a forum, especially for longer running discussions but for many it is just a convenience thing. (does my trail running group need to debate headlamps, AGAIN?!)
  16. Better tell the crowd at the Tuks high performance centre to move to the coast then! Jokes aside, welcome to any better logistical plans if he only hits half his fundraising budget.
  17. tell us more. Pretty sure I'm blocked on his socials since I got some pretend lawyer letters.
  18. so you're saying you were the "Darren" Luke needs? let's workshop this one quickly. UCI XCO calendar https://ucimtbworldseries.com/news/whoop-uci-mountain-bike-world-series-2025-calendar-unveiled 2 x brazil in early april (stay in ZA before and return then) 3x Czech=>Austria=>Italy 20 May:22 June (pick any of those countries and find a base and travel to the other 2) And 9Jul (travel to this one) Fra 21 Aug WORLD CHAMPS Sui 10-14 Sep Sui 18 Sep USA/CAN 3-12 Oct (fly in from Europe so here's my answer: stay in ZA and fly in fly out to brazil. go to Livigno Italy in mid May and base yourself there for 3 months, travelling to Czech/Aus. down the road to Val di sole. travel to Andorra for that one.. leave for Fra/Alps and do that world cup and WChamps and Sui WC - mid august -mid sept for 1 month fly to the states for 3 weeks, doing 2 world cups. Come back to ZA Total - 5 months on the road. Why Livigno? It's sort of close to the first 3 in Europe and has some tax free status on goods so is relatively cheap cost of living.
  19. Bikemarket will make an offer of R15k on that Venge to balance the universe out. Limited time, one time only! They will also pay CASH.
  20. Yeah I got that. Complaining about people hiding behind pseudonyms whilst hiding behind a pseudonym is textbook hypocrisy. Sure you are a business, but we all know that cycling has a long history of characters as the face of their businesses. An LBS is more than just a place for a transaction, it's where a community of like minded enthusiasts gather. The bricks and mortar cycling world is seeing corporate type shops with no character replacing the mom and pops So against that backdrop if you don't want to be involved in the community, but would rather be left alone to make money off it. Then go for that (but here you are engaging with the community). yours in everything bikes Steven Burnett (just incase you can't find my actual name on my profile) cool. That's is not news to anyone, we've had a system of two profiles linked by a common name for ages now. The "almost" that you need to include means they are still intertwined and will remain so in the immediate future. Welcome to the forum section.
  21. that's an IQ test
  22. ok wow. I would not have considered FB marketplace to be a safer place to do business. Maybe a volume thing but definitely feels like you are going to get scammed more there. My anecdotal evidence currently is from kitesurfing (where there is no bikehub equivalent). Seems to be the go to route for stolen kit, but some legit scams there too. On the alias thing. I put my actual name onto my profile YEARS ago when I decided that if i wanted to say something I shouldn't hide behind a pseudonym. I don't think it's something that actually comes up though (ie. I can't see yours if you have it, so you appear behind an alias to me)
  23. Obviously not the whole story but I guess the riders don't really get to negotiate from a position of strength. Do they work on handshakes for a while and contracts only get signed once the bucks are in? edit: no longer active it seems! Wonder if Greg Minnaar has some sway here https://www.uci.org/team-details/15731
  24. come @reteid you can do it!!
