  1. That is a dangerous strip of tar at the best of times, if there was no oncoming traffic he was just being a d**k. In the same breath lots of fellow cyclist in cars patience were tested by a group of cyclist this morning on Jonkershoek road sauntering along four abreast, problem is your beamer chop will loose his cool and see if he can clip one of them. Safety first, unfortunately 2 tons of steel at 100km/h always beats carbon matchsticks.
  2. Thinking of building up a run-around road bike with single blade front and 6,7 or 8 gear cassette. Anyone who has done this? Do you need to use a track crank or are there alternatives?
  3. I've only done short very non -tech rides on a lefty so cant give any opinion on it vs standard. But what I do know, I can shake 5 to 10 kg off myself before shaving 50g off components, and really learn how to handle a bike on technical stuff rather than splitting hairs on which fork will solve my shortcoming. Those world cup boys ride the gear they do, set up the way it is because 5 seconds on a 4.7km lap means gold vs silver. I would spend a full minute slurping on my bottle to remember if my medical aid is paid up before hitting the rock garden. Back to lefty vs std.... Whatever gets my tubby arse over the bumps.
  4. The science of rubber bands.
  5. So let this soak in a bit...... Well done hubbers
  6. I know a couple of people we can "test" the baton on!!
  7. Some very valid points Bees, but honestly does anyone in SA need more awareness of crime being out of control? Wayne did add that not knowing what you are doing with a weapon is at best pointless and at worst as you point out dangerous. If I had proper training in using said gear, you probably need to make a educated call if its a smug little s**t that see's spandex as a soft target or a proper gangster, if its the smug one, count me in for Golani-ing him properly.
  8. Buy from almost any pharmacy, usually kept behind the desk. Standard is 250 or 500ml. Isopropyl alcohol.
  9. Come on guys the suspense is killing me!!!! Where the man's wheels??!

  11. I had the exact same trouble few months back, definitely not a case of me riding to fast to miss the markers. More likely because of the tears in my eyes from the pain!!
  12. I did not make any statement of responsibility or who is at fault or not, merely gave you the answer to your original question.

    2012 VW Tiguan

Cant go wrong with the diesel, they are little slow off the mark, but your not buying a dragster after all. 2012 should still have a fair chunk of maintenance & warranty left on it, if buying from a dealer I highly suggest putting another 15 to 20k down and have the warranty / maintenance plan upped to 150 000km or 180 000km. One broken fuel pump- rails & injector and you have R35000 bill.
  19. Policing is an issue in Stellenbosch- the police can raid Idasvalley, Kreefgat or Kayamandi any day of the week and fill a bike shop with bits and pieces. Problem is, prosecuting this will be almost pointless as they cant even get rapist and murderers behind bars and these gangsters know where all these cops and their families live..... So unless they are caught red handed in the act, not much is going to change from Policing side. Sad day that majority of peoples lives are dictated by a minority of thugs.
  20. Merida Big Nine 29er with EA70 rims stolen in Stellenbosch last night, posted by Masons
  21. Not exactly the same price once you factor in the Spez shock service, obviously depends how many km you do.... But it adds up quickly
  22. Front page on Eikestad nuus last Friday, SAPS nabbed the dude that stole a Specialized off a guy at the top of Uniepark, Stellenbosch. Also spotted a bike that looked suspiciously like a Epic that got stripped of its paint job.... Guess the Roval rims were a give away.... Down at the Stellenbosch station.

  24. Thanks guys will follow up on a few leads, the cheapest I got so far was R150 pm, but that is the heavy duty 3M tape manufactured for choppers specifically.... Probably overkill! Want to run the down tube of mtb, will do normal protectors on rear triangle. Not looking forward to the "steady hand application though"
  25. Hey guys, have any of you used blade tape on your frames, or know where to get hold of small quantities- not keen to buy an entire roll at its going rate.
