Cant go wrong with the diesel, they are little slow off the mark, but your not buying a dragster after all. 2012 should still have a fair chunk of maintenance & warranty left on it, if buying from a dealer I highly suggest putting another 15 to 20k down and have the warranty / maintenance plan upped to 150 000km or 180 000km. One broken fuel pump- rails & injector and you have R35000 bill.

Policing is an issue in Stellenbosch- the police can raid Idasvalley, Kreefgat or Kayamandi any day of the week and fill a bike shop with bits and pieces. Problem is, prosecuting this will be almost pointless as they cant even get rapist and murderers behind bars and these gangsters know where all these cops and their families live..... So unless they are caught red handed in the act, not much is going to change from Policing side. Sad day that majority of peoples lives are dictated by a minority of thugs.

Front page on Eikestad nuus last Friday, SAPS nabbed the dude that stole a Specialized off a guy at the top of Uniepark, Stellenbosch. Also spotted a bike that looked suspiciously like a Epic that got stripped of its paint job.... Guess the Roval rims were a give away.... Down at the Stellenbosch station.

Thanks guys will follow up on a few leads, the cheapest I got so far was R150 pm, but that is the heavy duty 3M tape manufactured for choppers specifically.... Probably overkill! Want to run the down tube of mtb, will do normal protectors on rear triangle. Not looking forward to the "steady hand application though"

Hey guys, any idea if there is a list of local bike shops and which brands each focus on? Reason for asking, have not seen a single Santa Cruz or Rocky Mountain on any shop floors in Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Paarl or Bellville (the few shops I have visited) Our local guys doesnt seem to efficient to supply info online about selection or prices.

They are hanging on to the anthem 29er for another two years (if i understand the press release) probably to see if the markets wants both sizes in a viable amount. I am pretty keen on the Advanced 1 29er- assuming it will be a few months before the 2014 models land here, including their 15% (hopefully just) price hike due to our lovely currency.

Thanks guys, californian mate's room mate is a part owner in cycle shop there, swapping some vino to get frame at cost! Will need to check what SC's policyis on warranties....
