  1. In the past I did many more rides than I now do. My basic criteria are that the ride must be relatively long and not too technical. My favourites are Karoo to Coast, Knysna 85km, To Hell and Back, and Lourensford. I will be doing Seweweekspoort for the first time this year. Eselfontein is very nearby, but I did not even consider doing it because it is sold as being wonderfully technical. There must be many people that share my taste because the numbers at my favourites just grow and grow.
  2. [quote name=bruce Measuring power accurately is not rocket science' date=' it is quite easy. One would expect that a unit that you pay thousands, if not tens of thousands of rands for, should be capable of measuring power output to within a couple of percent accuracy![/quote] This is exactly what Big H is saying!
  3. Why? If the field size is such that you require say 4 mens categories to one ladies category to have similar group sizes, surely each category should have similar prizes? In this example the split between men and women would be 4 to 1.

  5. MTN hoef net vir Barloworld te vra of Barloworld dit die moeite werd gevind het om fietsry te borg.
  6. Rasmusen refused to sign it. He did sign.
  7. From experience: AR=100km Registered men AL=100km Registered ladies AA,AB,AC=100km non-registered, seeded into 3 groups CR=Long Mtb Registered CN=Long Mtb Non-registered DA,DB,DC=Medium Mtb, seeded into 3 groups
  8. Back to the topic. In the Northern hemisphere both road and mtb are summer season activities. And whether we like it or not, Australia is the best Southern hemisphere cycling country, and they have both their road and mtb national championships in January. It makes me wonder.
  9. They should not only have flags, they should start far later, such as just before the celebrity group. It must be nerveracking having thousands of cyclists overtake you.
  10. Some available from BikeMaxPower.
  11. Now this makes sense. In fact all training levels are best established by basing them on the power/duration curve of the athlete. Using average predicted values based on FTP can never be as good.
  12. Campagnola only have two lock ring sizes, one for 11 and and one for 12 and up. Not sure about Shimano, but I think that the starter cog is the special, which must have an intergrated spacer, and not the lock ring.
  13. Daiken-GU, according to Die Burger
  14. Shimano 9sp was virtually indestructable, but 10sp just does not last. It makes little difference if it is Dura Ace or Ultegra, except to your pocket.
  15. True for the Ergomo, but the SRM surely only measures the crank power?
  16. The iBike is calibrated by coasting from a fixed speed. It measures the incline so it does not matter what the gradient is. So if you want to use it for TT's you calibrate it using a TT position, for sea level you calibrate at sea level, for altitude you calibrate at altitude. It only becomes less accurate when you use it in circumstances other than what you calibrated for. It is a sofisticated power calculating device based on measured parameters. The fears about it not being accurate are largely unfounded. The only two real problems, for me, are that its measuring becomes compromised on corrugated roads, and that cannot work on an indoor trainer.
