  6. I must say I enjoyed the honesty of the empty bag. The subliminal message to me was : go read read your newspaper, ride your race and then go yourself. Really a lot better than filling the goodie (baddie) bag with a load of useless **** that nobody wants or needs, and just clutters up an already messy study.
  7. Its good to see that there are also mere mortals who are hubbers. After yesterday's "Funrider Apartheid" dispensed over the past 24 hours by the elite and sub 3 types, I was actually beginning to wonder whether I have the right to login here at all - what with all the dismissive sh!t about only elites having the God given right to cross the line and thereby get themselves wiped out by an oncoming taxi.blah blah). Anyway, my point is that its good to see that there are also ordinary people like me who strive only to get fitter, slimmer and healthier and to have fun on the bike in so doing - although judging by the amount of posts on this thread, actually maybe there are not so many after all??

  9. This would seem to be ideal - and its free. The online ed of Bicycling was on yesterday I think to publicise this http://www.bicycling.co.za/static/challenge
  10. I get that, and have no issue with freedom of speech. But when we come here to name a business and then go ahead and trash it, do you not think it behoves us to treat the power of this forum with respect, and to acknowledge the damage that can be done. In this instance, I just think that Wannabe's public reaction is overkill, and is totally out of proportion with the alleged "bad service" ....Its not as if they failed to honour a warranty obligation, or did a bad repair or anything. Had he just asked, I am sure he would have been atteded to. no??
  11. [ no prob with that!! But go quietly - why come here to bitch?? Harryn2007-11-26 04:26:05
  12. I don't think its right to be trashing a business in these threads for something so fickle as some guy not being fawned over the minute he walks into the shop. In fact, I think its abuse.
  13. Effing lovely!!!! May you have safe rides on it!

    I took them to Lourens Strausse Optometrists in Killarney Mall. They had to send them to Oakley in the U.S. The whole thing took about a month before I got them back - but it was pretty pain free. They gave me v good service!!

    Prep notes for this weekend's ride: 1. Leave bannana at home to make way for potatoes (nb: mash won't sit well in back pockets); 2. plan route to avoid hot chick spots;

    After having to go thru the huge cost and hassle of sending these Oakleys to the U.S to have the lenses made up in my prescription, there is no way I am gonna fork out more dosh for another pair. There has to be some solution you can get to deal with this issue. Are they optometrists out there who can give any constructive suggestions??

    Yes, but its a total ball ache!! Just because nobody else can see either is no consolation at all! Isn't there some kinda stuff you can get to treat the lenses with so that they will not fog up??
  20. I have this not so huge, but nevertheless irritating problem. Whenever I stop at a robot or am on a big climb my Oakleys fog up like mad. My optometrist gave me this spray but it has not helped? Anyone got any suggestions?
  21. Yes, mine did not come standard - I had to buy it seperate. not cheap.
  22. Number collection is just a ball ache, especially for the big events like the 94.7, where u can wait around in crowds forever. This should not have to be done more than once in a lifetime. Everyone should be allocated one permanent number to be used in every race, and while we are on that subject, the timing chip can be embedded into the number, so we do not have to be changing transponders between wt and champion chip. we will also save the planet by doing this.
