I take no joy in Niehaus' downfall. Yes, he has made grievous errors, and yes, he should pay for them (and he is) - but I must say that I found that he displayed honesty and genuine regret and sorrow for his actions. I found that very refreshing and it was humbling. I think he should be forgiven.

Newsflash, old sport! Without us weekend warriors, you wouldn't have any races to ride in, cos its our entry fees that finance them. So, why do you still think you should get priority? Also, as to your saying that the race was a 100km freewheel, I am afraid you need to look at your Garmin / polar stats. Mine says that 17.773km of the race was in fact uphil. If you need a challenge, go climb Everest or something. Be assured, that we are very impressed with you. Anyway, I agree wholeheartedly with what Porky had to say.

ok then driewiel sorry about that. Anyway, as Justin from My Race pointed out to me this morning, the cards are really kinda superflous to us weekend cyclosport warrior types. CSA have us on their database, and the online entry system is supposed automatically recognise us when we enter races - so there is no real need for the card. In an ideal world.

Report from the back of the pack: I started in K, and had a wonderful race. I had a gr8 fun, and did a 3.19, which I am v happy with. I got dropped too often, and rode too much of the race on my own. I think if I get a bit smarter, I might improve my time. The down side to the race happened about 500 meters from the finish - when this girl (I think it was a girl) in a red top was clipped by someone (who I think must have been too tired by then to hold his/her line) , and she came down hard, right next to me. I just hope she is ok - the incident shook me. Does anyone perhaps know if she is allright?

prediction for this thread: now we will get some disgruntled customer coming to bitch about some or other LBS, then a zillion other okes will come and lash him saying how gr8 that LBS is, then Porky will march in here and lash us all for waxing lyrical about our LBS's .yawn

I'm NO financial GURU, as I'm sure you are, but haven't noticed any major decrease in the price of consumer goods in the past when the price of oil dropped, but have seen a drastic increase when the price of oil increased. It works out cheaper, is easier to work with on the bike, and does not lead to litter or sticky hands and shirts. Saw them at the expo, but got mine at cycle lab.
