  1. You can stop now mate, this is a thread that is specifically for us old guys who want to waste our time on old stuff. The new stuff thread is somewhere else. okok. I will run off and pretend to do a bit of work for a change. But before I do, Spud, consider this: I take note that you crossed out my yellow/ brown ref to Conti in the tour, and changed it by saying he still would have one. All very nice. BUT, let the record reflect that you did not cross out my rather crude reference to "old pieces of sh*te". What this tells me is that subliminally, you really agree that these old bikes are just old pieces of sh*te even though you don't know that you agree. Now don't try and deny it cos I really understand psychology. You see, once I registered at Unisa for Psyche 101, and I read a few pages of the study guide (before dropping out of varsity), so as you can appreciate, I know my stuff.
  2. erm, I'm not uptight. I was just trying to liven up the thread is all. Anyway, why aren't we trying to save the f'ing world? I think its a good enough cause.
  3. Ok, so I am a Phillistine and a Visigoth. Forgive me. But I tell you if Contador had ridden one of these old pieces of sh*te in the tour, there is no way he would be in yellow. He would be in brown.
  4. I hate all this old retro sh*t. There is a reason no-one rides this retro stuff. Its ***. Times and technology have changed. You don't use a typewriter anymore. So, why ride or collect this old junk? I don't get it.
  5. I am waiting for the day some f**ker arrives with a stolen bike at a race and is lynched when the bike is recognised by the owner.
  6. sorry to hijack your thread, but I also wanted to mention a bike shop. DUNKELD CYCLES . What happened is that I was just riding along one morning last week, when my cleat broke, and I was far from home. I phoned my driver and he collected my shoe from me and took it into Dunkeld Cycles, who replaced (an fitted) the cleat on nothing more than trust. This was done by them for a total stranger - I have never dealt with them before. I was very impressed, and grateful. PS : This thread will drive Porky mad. He hates it when we get all soupy about LBS's!
  7. Riding on the wrong side of the road is a hugely dangerous practice, and one which irritates me hugely when I am cycling on the right of the road and have to make way for the idiot offender as per Tankman's pictorial depiction of the pinnacle of stupidity on wheels. In the areas in which I ride, I notice that the main offenders are the newspaper delivery guys, who hug the wrong side of the road at dawn without lights or helmets.
  8. Here is mine. bet there are more than a couple of hubbers who can post these. P S: Look how thin I am in this pic! Harryn2009-07-15 02:01:50
  9. Ok ok, so we've all ripped her a new one, but now what? The Tour does not start on TV till 8 and I've got nothing to do till then cos I am too scared to look at the tour related threads cos no doubt the winner oft today's stage has been outed there, and it just is not the same when you know. So, I was relying on this thread to fil the 20 mins in my oh so pathetically empty life, but Joe Low was right (isnt he always?) - someone should have been more sympathetic. its awfully boring when we all agree. cant remember when that ever happened before. Maybe this thread is indeed the first true indicator that the Messiah really is coming. Now I will go look at a Lance thread. If I see everyone agreeing there, i swear I will start packing for Mecca.
  10. To touch again on Mampara's point. What exactly is the CSA rider levy all about? And do you have to pay it if you have a license? And, if so, why? I thought we all bought these cyclosport licenses to avoid paying these kinda things - no?
  11. beginner's question. How do you measure the crank? is is from the mid point of the nut to the end or from end to end? when I measure mine it gives me 200 - but that just cant be right.
  12. Le Tour sportswear in Edenvale make a nice bib short. In fact, now they also make a bib long tights, and I just got a pair and did my first ride with them today. v comfy and warm! I reccommend that you ask them for the imported Chamois when ordering - well worth the extra moola. Its always nice to know that on a ride your ass is consorting with material made in parts od the world more exotic that Boksburg.
  13. Look Big H, all I was saying is that you must tell those flippen Angolans not to make you build their roads at a time when we need you here to cause ***, man. What more important? The Angolan economy or that proper sh*t is stirred on the gu gel wrapper thread. Where's your patriotism?????
  14. Yah, sorry. I will try to do better next time!
  15. Big H, your'e losing your touch, boet. I can't believe that you waited a full 12 pages on a true honest to goodness sh*t stirring kinda thread to get into the action. tch tch!
  16. Looks to me like its really Colonel's bike, but your'e just covering for him.
  17. your'e really sharp tonight, colonel
  18. i mean power aid
  19. I have ambivalent feelings on this. On the one hand I agree with SwissVan. The man has guts and character. But the wicked part of me thinks, yah, maybe its tougher to ride without the juice.
  20. Thank you Johan for the comprehensive diagnosis, and suggested solutions. We can always rely on you to be the consummate professional, whether the problem is a ruined ass or a sticky rear deraileur.
  21. ..what to use/ do for it? P.S : I know I will probly be flamed for not using the search function, but I don't think it will hurt as much as my ass does. help please.
  22. yah. staright talk may motivate me to get on a diet. this implied stuff justs wounds my poor self esteem.its all v negative.
