  1. In my mind at least that's how i try to do things, on thehub and in business, if I've accepted a lower price for something its a different story than not hearing from buyer #1 at all, accepting it means there has been some form of communication and commitment from my side. Only if Buyer #1 gives me the run around and drops the ball will I revert to buyer #2, and then I will give him the same deal as #1.
  2. No, If i advertised something for X (I am prepared to accept X for the item in its current condition) and i get a second person that whats it for Y, my answer would be simply. "Thanks for your offer but i have another interested party, however if that party does not respond by ABC date then I will call you and give you the option". This is not e-b@y, if you want to see how much money you can get for an item list it on bid-or-buy. Edit: Grammar / spelling
  3. And last note, as a seller I'm not sugar coating the condition of the item, I'll be honest on its condition and if i'm way off the mark on the price, let me know and I may re-look at it, else accept it and move on.
  4. My take on it is simple. As a buyer: If i say I'll take it, then it means I'm happy to pay the price you have listed, send me your bank details and I'll pay as soon as possible (typically communicated via PM as well)If i say "Dibs" (Unlikely but who knows) - Means its a bargain and I want my post to show as fast as possible - Typically followed by a PM / phone call if the ad lists your numberIf i say "PM Sent" - Then I'm asking a question or possibly haggling, generally where the ad states "neg" on the priceI'll provide a rating after completing the transaction, please do the same As a seller I will always give the guy that responds first the benefit of the doubt, until they tell me they don't want it or i don't hear from you in a few daysIt's not ethical in my mind to try get another R100 from someone by being dodgy, I will list the item at a price i'm willing to take for it, finishedI don't mind anyone asking if its negotiable - no offence taken, if i feel its going to a good home i might just send it to you for nothing.I don't respond to anything that says "Send me a PM", if you cant initiate the conversation I'll wait for someone that will.I'm not selling something to put bread on the table, it's going either because it deserves a better home or its in my wayI'll provide a rating after completing the transaction, please do the sameI use my discretion with the rouxtije rule, i recently sold an item to a guy 500kms away with 1 post (i think) and it turns out that that he is mates with someone I know down there and is a good oke.
  5. I want SCAR!!!! Always wanted a boxer, grew up with them and love them to bits. Currently have a Cross Labbie / chow (SPCA rescue) thats around 10yo and a pure bread Spaniel about 2yo now.
  6. Seems like the makings of a Friday thread.... SS is better than Gears...
  7. Depending where in the UK it was delivered I'm sure i could get it here sooner. I have colleagues that travel up and down often, my boss should be coming here in July too.
  8. Apple TV + Unotelly - end van prent... Also, do you have any "non technical" family that still have DSTV Premium? If you do then ask them to let you link your ipad / Drifta / iphone / Android device to their account, costs them nothing anyway, then you can use the supersport app.
  9. Clearly you had more than honey in your oats this morning.
  10. http://www.astroholdings.co.za/astro-anodising-aluminium-finishing.html They are in Sebenza, had some cranks and some small bits done in March, very happy with the results, although the Sq taper cranks have finally been retired so the anodising was wasted on them. They now have a minimum charge of around R400, so make sure you have enough to make it worth while, I know in the past my bits would have only been around R150 max. If i had asked, :-) I probably would have added quite a few more parts to be done at the same time.
  11. No PM... hint hint. I made a rudimentary version with some pallets and some fiberglass insulation that the guys use for aircon ducting (25mm fiber with aluminium backing) and a fan behind the gennie that works really well, so much so that i hear my neighbors more then i hear my own, but I would still like to make up something a bit more tidy.
  12. Overheating being in the cupboard may actually also invalidate the warranty, although they would have to try prove it. (e.g. Some vendors will not replace failed server components under warranty if they are hosted in racks with glass doors)
  13. Post # 48000, also the last post of page 3000 = Awesome.
  14. Have some kids, best excuse ever A. To spend money on Lego and B. to spend the time playing with it @Tumbles, I'm sending my 8yo to you for the weekend to come help you build.
  15. It will buff right out.
  16. For those who commute to the office.
  17. Nope, Privately owned by Nicky Oppenheimer
  18. True that, I know they do it on Tractors to "power" the attachments (not Electric power, mechanical rather). Just seems a waste to have an engine capable of generating sitting doing nothing. S'pose you could use your car battery for a while to power some lights and then run it very now and then to recharge.
  19. I've always wondered why we could not come up with something to generate the power needed from the 2 massive engines standing in the garage, either via the wheels or the exhaust pressure.
  20. Perhaps a bit late on that gravy train, I have a couple of mates that made a killing on generators in 2008 and onwards, but they were in the game already and had the stock when everyone else had not received theirs yet. At least this time round the pricing seems to be staying reasonable stable ZAR/Kv, back then there were guys selling the things with massive markups and still could not keep up with the demand.
  21. The Industrial impact of a sudden shutdown would be beyond comprehension, think of the massive aluminium smelters in Richards bay for example, if they loose power they would not be able to clear out the material before it hardens, and once that happens there is virtually no way to fix it besides total rebuild. The same is true for most mining houses, although on a smaller scale, some of the Platinum and Gold mines have sufficient capacity to keep their stuff heated long enough to clear it out. But yes, to your point, storing a couple of amps in a battery is easy and reasonably cheap 100-200amp is still ok, but that wont run your fridge for longer than a couple of hours, never mind pool pumps, geysers etc.
  22. Almost as bad as this
  23. LMAO, not specifically a maths problem, really more towards deductive reasoning, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deductive_reasoning P.s. it cant be May 19 or August 17....(Hint: use Excel and put it in a table form and work back from what it can't be) edit: spelling
