  1. Is it next to Enterprise or Renown?
  2. What is everyones opinion on the EA70 and EC70 wheels as I am thinking of getting a set later this year. Does anyone know what the RRP is?
  3. My brother is interested in buying a new set of wheels for training and racing, and has a choice between the following: 1)Shimano WRH 7800 - R3700.00 2)American Classic 420 bladed - R4700.00 3)Mavic Ksyrium Elite - R3500.00 What would be the best option considering price, quality and performance?Speed Devil2008-07-11 03:36:23
  4. Maybe he should take the money and buy a better driver's licence...maybe at PnP instead of PEP?
  5. let me see....you on pension...maybe have your own business.....maybe work from home.....work serious flexi time.....I wouldn't mind to fall into one of those categories
  6. Depending on the size of the hole you can glue a piece of old tube inside or use one of those black patches. The black patch works very well. If the cut is in the side wall then I would suggest replacing it. Keep the old tyre and repair it if possible and keep it for use on your IDT if you have one Speed Devil2008-07-02 03:31:22
  7. Being in the high voltage industry I have have been to Moz, Zim, Botswana and Zambie many times to commission substations. My first trip out of SA was to Moz in November 1998. You guys have not seen bad roads yet... When I was there in '98, there were no roads. you just followed the tyre tracks and presumed it was the road. An experience that I will never forget was on the road going from Boane past mozal to town. It was tarred (one of the very few tarred roads in Moz at the time) and one of my colleagues was driving and overtook a local. Just around the bend was a traffic cop that pulled him off and informed him that he had overtaken a vehicle on a solid white line. He protested and pointed to the road and said that there wasn't even a line in the road. The cop said to him....THERE USED TO BE A LINE THERE. He landed up paying a R500 fine or go to jail. He in SA you know exactly when you leave Gauteng and enter MP...the nicely tarred roads stop and then you feel like you are in Moz with all the potholesWe can complain about our roads all we want, but they are way better than our neighbours. The only difference is that we pay to keep our roads maintained which very rarely happens. As for the motorists, the SA drivers are well behaved compared to Moz and Zambia. If someone really wants to learn to drive then they must go over the border. Here people just play with their steering wheels. Our biggest problem is the total lack of respect, ignorance and apathy of our society, and one of the main contributers I think is the price of the vehicles. The more expensive the vehicle is, the more right the driver thinks he has to be there. It is as if everyone thinks they own the piece of road they are driving on. Motorists think that if they put their indicator on (which very seldom happens) that they have automatic right of way to pull in front of you, regardless whether the gap is big enough to squeeze his car into. Another irritating thing is the amount of people to their make up, hair, shaving and so on in the car on the way to work. Has our society become so fast paced that there is not enough time to do these things before leaving for work in the mornings? Next time you are in rush hour traffic and a car suddenly veers in front or next to you, I'm almost sure they will be busy with something. PS: BigH and Jakes, If you ever go to Inhambane and get to Lindela about a km before the fork to Maxixe/Inhambane there is a bright orange building with a substation....I helped build that oneSpeed Devil2008-07-01 04:38:42
  8. My Dad had a similar incident with them a few years back. They sent a letter saying his premiums would be increased and gave a percentage value. When he received his next statement and worked out the increase into a percentage value it was way more than what his original letter said. So he phoned them and then they brought the increase down to be in line with the letter that they sent. Like you say, most people don't put up a fuss. I wonder how many people actually check there policies avery year and double check.
  9. Outsurance should be called outrageous, similar to incredible rippoff and hifi corruption. They say they cut out the middle man to save you money but then they load their admin fees and everything else and still land up to be more expensive than everyone else. I have had numerous quotes from them and they alway in the top two most expensive insurance companies.Speed Devil2008-06-30 04:18:59
  10. Exactly. And only just readable through the bullet holes And that is if the grass under the sign isn't too long to obscure the board
  11. Mushy I don't know about your insurance, but I'm with Santam and my bike is specified so I don't pay an excess if I claim on my bike.
  12. Eastrand Presleys ad Fock off... we can't afford luminous paint in the east. OOPS my bad wouldn't be on wood either that would have been used for a braai' date=' would most probably on corrugated iron sheet.. And there are no bullet holes through it [/quote'] If it was on the Eastrand it would be painted with on one of the road signs...I'm outa here
  13. In the marketing world that is usually referred to as new and improved....In plain english it means "Exactly the same sh!t, just looks different"
  14. I have to disagree with you bak2basiks If would not make any difference if you are doing 30kmph on a carbon or Ti frame and you were involved in a head on collision. In such an accident you would be deisengaged from your bike and be splattered against the windscreen of the car and your injuries would be the same. If you were on a carbon bike you would be picking the carbon pieces out of your skin for the next six months as the frame would have shattered, sending chips and splinters of carbon flying at high velocity in all directions., where as with a Ti bike your frame would just crumple and everything would stay intact.
  15. How much would a frame and fork like that cost? Which would be heavier?
  16. You should just have carried on driving as if he wasn't there. One of 2 things would have happened: he would have tried to avoid you and crashed into the pavement and you would happily have driven off. Or he would have hit you and then you could have bliksemed him for jumping a red light, hitting your car AND for driving like a dork. I ,personally would have gone for option 2 PS: I got car insurance for incase option 2 does happen and the school dropout under paid wannabe-professional dorky cyclist hits my car and he cant afford to pay up. at least I would have the satisfaction of teaching him the hard way how to ride a bike and obey the traffic laws.Speed Devil2008-06-25 05:19:52
  17. I have always drilled a hole in my bottom brackets on all my bikes and have never had any problems. Just make sure that the hole in the BB is not going to be closed up by the plasitic cable guide when you put it back on after drilling the BB, because that will defeat the whole object. Rather drill through the guide or next to it depending on ther shape of the guide. Just make sure you dont drill through the threaded area where the cups screw in otherwise you will mess the thread up and it will be closed by the cups when you replace the BB.
  19. Don't you just hate it when your company's email policy says " If you are not the intended recipient for this email please delete it and inform the SENDER" and then the dumb chop who received it unintentionally passes it on to your boss and doesn't have the balls to inform you that he received it and passed it on?
