  1. How did the whole transaction thing take place? Did they "deposit" the money and then come collect the bike? Give some details so that we know what their modus operandi is. I hope you get the bike back. That is a sh!tload of money to lose.Speed Devil2009-06-09 11:49:07
  2. Me too...And I can't wait until December
  3. Just another thing less to do....and more time to build a swimming pool
  4. 22 Views and nobody knows?
  5. I was off the bike for about 1 and a half years and have lost my seeding completely and now need to start building up my seeding again. How do the organisers apply seeding in races? Do they use only seeding from the superseeding ladder or do they also check for a seeding from other races. e.g. If I do the Randfontein EPR race or the Fountains Cyle Race which are not on the superseeding list, will they use the seeding from these races for the Lost City race?
  6. Just had a flash back to the 80's....Maya the Bee Oh, nice looking bike
  7. This reminds me of the Matfield 4X4 try from the Bulls vs Chiefs match over the weekend. If you can't go around then go over the top
  8. 1)Did break the chain at any time to remove and ckean it? 2) Did you use the same pin to rejoin the chain again? If you did, then it could be that the head of the pin which is slightly burred could be rounded off and now the side plates keep slipping off. Buy a quick link and replace the offending links.Speed Devil2009-06-03 10:56:05
  9. Ok...I don't care what he/she drives....that really is not the issue here..... it would just be nice to hear/know why CKs can be bought from an online retailer for R5k landed @ your door and locally you can buy it for R9k... It's just like politics, except we land up PAYING for the promises. We get told we will get local support, spares, warranties etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc..........until we need to use the warranty!!!! That's when we learn that our balls were ripped out through our wallets a few months earlier. I've used Shimano all my life and never had any problems with them. I don't see why I should be paying 3x the price for some boutique brand that I've never seen let alone used. As they say in the classics....the more expensive it is, the more there is that can and will go wrong.
  10. Cajees are there only for the sales. They know that no matter how k@k the service is, people will keep coming back for the good prices on the bikes and accessories. Like someone said, parts=Cajees, service=somewhere else. Even better, learn to fix your own bike and save a ton of cash!!! As for the rebuild costing R500....I think now that FPC and the get-a-long gang have been caught with their fingers in the cookie jar they need to improve their profit margins elsewhere, and seems we are going to be taken to the cleaners in the service bay. There is no way that a build can take five hours. And even if it did it would mean the labour is R100/hour...almost the same that a QUALIFIED mechanic charges to service a car.....what qualifications does a bike mackie have????? Please people, wake up and realise that people like this are out rip our balls out through our wallets.
  11. A complete toolkit at Solomons costs less than that.
  12. Does anyone know the quality of the clothing produced by Sprint Design in Australia? They make cycle and triathlon clothing. http://www.sprintdesign.com.au/ My company is busy having a kit made up by this crowd, and a shorts with top will be retailing for app R550. If the company subsidises us then we could get it a bit cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at the price, I know it's a very good price. I'm just worried that the quality might be a bit on the poor side considering that the price includes shipping and import duties....and we all know how customs klaps us on import duties on clothing
  13. Kreativ I also have an Iphone and as far as I know there are no app available for GPS. Iphones can only view googlemaps. You would have to either get a Nokia or Garmin (or something similar).
  14. I think the organisers should get more creative and give out quality stationary, bottle openers, glasses, socks etc that is branded with the sponsor's names. Stuff that will be noticed at your next braai, when you use your pen/pencil at the office/client etc etc Medals just get chucked in the back of the cupboard until the day that they are thrown away or donated to some charity. T-shirts and the printing on them are usually of such low quality that they are half their original size after 3 washes and 2 wahes later the print starts coming off. Personally I think that medals should only be given on special occassions like after 5 or 10 finishes, something like they do with the ACT when you gat a pink number after completing 10 races. Maybe also for a special commemoration of a race and so.... GIVE US SOMETHING WE CAN USE!!! Just my 2c
  15. When enquiring on the price just make sure whether it comes with the candence sensor or not. The unit without the cadence sensor is cheaper until you arrive at the shop and then realise that you still have to buy the sensor. Some shops quote the cheaper price just so that you will go to them.
  16. This is great news. Well done Yang for being so alert and Intern for your sake I hope there is not too much damage. It just goes to show how trustworthy some hubbers are. It would have been so easy for Yang to keep the bike and no one would even have known about it.
  17. Check your cleats on your shoes. I had the same problem a few weeks back. I sent my bike in to be cleaned and the BB to be serviced as it sounded like the creaking noise was coming from the BB. It was fine for a few days and then the noise started again. Then I remembered the time that I had a similar situation, which went away after replacing my cleats. So I swapped the cleats on my shoes and sprayed a bit of Q20 on them and now my bike is nice a quiet again.
  18. When I bought my Raleigh tandem last year December the Titans were going for 9-10k. They were specced with Tiagra 9spd gruppos. I don't know if the spec have changed and what the new prices are.
  19. I have been thinking of getting something like this, as I cycle to work most mornings. By the time I get to work or back home I'm on a total high from all the petrol and diesel fumes. Where can can a person get one of these? and RRP?
  20. I don't see why you are shy about talking to him about it. Cycling is the only sport where males and females can openly talk about anything as if it was the most natural thing to do....just tell him straight out that he is advertising to the world that he is a newbie
  21. The art is to get the timing just right so that you don't waste money unecessarily but at the same time don't injure yourself
  22. I don't know what you people are all on about over phones and GPS. If you want GPS then get a Garmin!!! Since I got mugged a while back I don't carry my phone with me anymore....less weight, less clutter in my pockets and if it rians I don't need to worry about water damage on my phone the whole time. Wait till you are mugged oneday.... no phone, no GPS, no cycle computer and think of all the info you will lose with the phone when it gets stolen or water damaged ie contacts, calendar entries etc etc etc, unless of course you backup your phone periodically...which most people don't do.Speed Devil2009-05-11 11:06:06
