  1. What p!sses me off the most, is that the majority of the w@nkers who sit on their hooters and try and run us off the road, are those fat, vertically challenged little people who wake up every morning and say, ?I wish I could do something about my weight?. Then they promptly jump in their gas guzzling SUV and head for the nearest fast food joint to satisfy their insatiable hunger for anti-slimming meals (Hooray for MacD and their merry bunch). All this while we, the cyclists, are out there on the road trying to keep a level of fitness, being eco friendly and in general trying to live a healthy life style. Maybe MacD and their get-a-long gang should introduce a drive-thru for bicycles only, which would encourage those fat degenerates to do some form of exercise while heading off for heir favourite junk meal?.Something like eating a burger with a diet a coke.
  2. When choosing between tubby and clinchers at the time of purchase, the deciding factor is mainly price. Tubby rims are cheaper, especially when looking at full carbon, compared to their clincher counterparts. It is up to the individual whether they want to take the risk of running a flat on a tubby in a race and not completing the event, or paying a bit more and have peace of mind. Personally, I don't see how people can use the higher pressure rating of a tubby over a clincher as a deciding factor, as riders who weigh less, like myself, run a lower pressure to compensate for the harshness of the road surface.
  3. You said they are more comfortable but haven't explained it. Could you please help us understand why? Aaaah....Once again the voice of reason has spoken
  4. SL how many times a week do you do your exercises?
  5. It's a pleasure...an after thought
  6. A tubby is something you hold onto in bed to keep warm and a clincher is what you get when you say she is a tubby
  7. Actually Iphone is a bunch of cr@p. mine packed up and vodacom didn't want to replace. Only after posting on Hellopeter did they jump and get mine replaced (with a reconned one).If my insurance had been a bit more helpful I would have replaced it with something else...but hey, it's replaced so I use it now

  9. Thanks Shortlegs. Will hopefully start with them tonight.
  10. SM, I'm glad your bike came of so easily....and you You are very lucky that someone didn't try and take your bike and everything else while you were passed out. You know the saying, "farting against thunder...." well the same goes for cycling against the wind...it just doesn't work......Well I'm sure you know that by now
  11. Does anyone have an exercise routine for strengthening core muscles and the lower back? Something that is "simple" and does not need expensive gym equipment. Question: when doing reps on an exercise set, what is a recommended rest period between reps?
  12. so then why would you go for a DA if the Ultegra is cheaper AND harder wearing?Doesnt make sense to me... because you can. The DA cassette came with the gruppo. When I bought the racing wheels I moved the DA cassette to them and bought an Ultegra cassette for the taining wheels. To replace a cluster and chain at almost 2k everytime is a bit steep. That's why I use Ultegra for training.
  13. What Reynolds tubing is on the bike?
  14. This such ba news. Motorists just don't give a hoot about other road users anymore. I hope his injuries were not too bad and hope he recovers soon.
  15. I have a DA 7800 gruppo. My DA cluster is on my racing wheels and have an Ultegra cluster on my training wheels. It is a lot cheaper and harder wearing than the DA cluster.
  16. My kitchen...when the missus is upset

  18. I'm my own hero. Everynight when I go to sleep I dream of beating the cr@p out of every taxi driver or whoever p!ssed me off that day....And I always win
  19. Nancy, only people from OUTSIDE GP need a pass to get in
  20. This is a common problem in Cape Town especially around the Argus. But yes, it is a problem throughout SA and we are becoming soft targets for these lawless hooligans. I'm sure that one of these days they are going to be on the wrong end of a 9mm when they try hijack a cyclist...remeber that story a few years ago? A friend of my dad who works in Simonstown was almost mugged in grassypark a few years ago. They pushed him off his bike and luckily he got up quickly and moered the one oke with his bike. When the other one saw how big my dads friend was and what he could do with a bike he took off into the bushes he came out of Please guys, ride safely in numbers and take all possible precautions eg pepperspray. If you know you are going through a dodgy area then be prepared so that you can grab the mace when the fit hits the shan. Just remember, changeing your route is a short term solution to your problem. Sooner or later they will discover what is going on be waiting for you one day when you are at ease and least expecting an attack. Get yourselves an ICEID and wear it on under your sock for incase something goes horribly wrong and you can't speak for yourself. Carrying a drivers licence/ID book won't help as they will steal it when mugging you. Bracelets/ neck chains with contact details on will also be regarded as jewellery and be removed from your person.Speed Devil2009-02-05 07:17:27
  21. I have exactly the same problem. I had a set if Spez Comp carbon shoes which were really bad. I sold them and got a set of Shimano Carbon sole shoes. It is a bit better but I still have problems. I don't know if your shoes are also carbon or not, but my problem only started after riding with shoes that have carbon soles, where the sole is a lot stiffer with no flex. I never had a problem with my old Diadoras.
  22. Count me and the missus in. If I do the offroad thing, is the track good enough to have my son on the back of my MTB?
