They didn't care one bit to move over.The tanker nearly forced us in the gravel because of these idiots . I just stay as far away from them as possible. They'll pack away their bikes after Nov and we'll all have peace again.
The Jacaranda race was pre-entry only and they ran out of water at two points, so I don't think that's the reason. It's because the organisers can. R100 is a bit much though.

the entries are still open. So no seeding will take place untill it's closed. It's obvious they don't have good number of entries yet, otherwise they would've closed on 4oct as advertised. Their help desk has gone for a ball of crap. Been waiting for a reply on a q for 2 months.
It's an illess: Emperor's Palace mtb organiser (in Feb) hasn't removed his bunting from the route either.8 months and counting. Maybe he wants to save it for next year
A couple of years ago GNC introduced a long distance race for the licensed riders. (I think they tried 180km)Most of them complained the distance was too long and wanted to boycott the event if the format stayed. Some local riders want the change, others like beating us fun riders on a 95km ride.

Hubby spends a LOT on bikes. Upgrade this, replace that on mtb and road, and not only when something breaks. So I get the old 'new' stuff. What a bargain. Have not spent a cent on parts on my 2 bikes since we got married 5 years ago. B)

Yep ROAG. R75 and that's it. Your license may well end up in Stellenbosch instead of Jhb like mine did but at least they tried to send it out this year. Unlike my lic I never received in 2009.

We stay in Jhb. It's proven that even 3-7 cyclists riding together,is not of a deterrent to hijackers. They come armed. So even if that's the only reason for racing, my odds of not being hijacked wil be better with some 400 other riders around me.
We race to enjoy safety in numbers, motivation to exercise, you get to ride in places that are off limits otherwise, to socialize, feel competitive. Enough said?
It's R12 million. And it's because it's other people's money. Bet none of those executives would've forked out double for some tickets (like they did) if the money were from their own pocket.
I felt sorry for the guy (not because of what they tried) but that he was put on the spot, speaking on behalf or everyone involved while the other shop owners have the comfort of hiding behind their shop counters.
Unless you asked CRC to add something to parcel and not declare it, I don't see a problem? CRC are straight arrows anyway.And if your clearing agent places it under the correct tariff heading. They can alert as many SARS and customs officials they want. Customs have bigger fish to fry than to stop a small parcel of cycling goods arriving in the country through the correct channels. So they stop a parcel, it gets delayed a day or two. We still get the goods.
Sorry, I should've included parts manufacturers as well. Unless you're going to start making bike chains and derailleurs in your back yard,there's no reason why duties on imported goods should go up.
Duties is to protect the local market of manufacturers and for extra government revenue. There is no local bike manufacturer to protect from the flood of imports. The trade industry won't change the duties and vat on bicycles and parts if a couple of bike shop owners asked nicely.
And the other industries are being checked. Please go and read a newspaper. As for the profit: 100%+ markup is absurd. Someone in IT said their margin is 5-10%, another hubber said motorcycle sales work on about 10-15%. Cycle shops are not the bottom feeders as you make them out to be. The issue is not running a business - it's the collusion.These cycle shops hated the competition and wanted to play unfair. Big question: If the issue (acc to Supercycling last night) was about getting past fixed Recommended retail price of wholesalers, why is it that eg. Shimano parts prices differ at bike shops?
