  1. My condolences to the families and friends involved. Maybe PPA could assist by having riders sign a petition at Argus registration? Where will you get 30,000+ signatures in one town in a few days? We say there is a problem with safety of cyclists, law enforcement, penalties for offenders against cyclists being knocked down etc. Hand over the petition on the morning of the race to one of the public officials at the start. ?
  2. That's bad. Some female advice: wait untill she heals completely before you even say the words: get back on the bike. She now wants your sympathy and nothing else. Fix the bike without telling her. Once she's okay, she'll probably say something about cycling and then it's your turn to talk about it.
  3. To date not one single person in our club has received their license. Keep using your 2009 card untill you get your renewal-that's all. Roag sent out a newsletter two weeks ago, saying it'll cost you R75 for your cyclosport lic. No extra fees.
  4. Cooperation is a bit more than just sitting there and accepting the charges handed to you. Did he chirp about the source, other riders etc? Unless he gave useful info, what was he rewarded for? The 2yr sentence should've started from the day it was handed down or at least when the results came out. What's with the backdating? He raced after 18 oct anyway.
  5. I have to agree here - SS is by faaaar the best timing system out there. Go look at their Emperor's mtb results- it's a mess. My friend has a 'No data' displayed. I thought I rode a hell of a race according to the results. But there are plenty females who finished ahead of me, but they classified as males. And if they get the DQ s right, my results will look better.
  6. The marshals are put in potentially dangerous intersections, with little help from the metro. As Scotty said, a turn here or there and the route could've avoided the rondebult/north rand intersection completely. Had a metro woman in the intersection on rondebult over the N17 highway who didn't notice an emergency vehicle with blaring sirens wanting to cross. We stopped and gave way. He thanked us and all she could say: 'Oh, sorry". Nobody messes with the east randers and their mall shopping time.
  7. Cops were in McD for a coffee in Roodepoort early morning last year when cyclists told them another cyclist was just hijacked cnr HP (about 2 blocks from where they were). Cops stared at them bleary eyed and carried on sipping their coffee. Who needs a break from work to party, if they haven't done any work to start off with?
  8. Where did you get this map from daggavis? The entry form we received at the fast one yesterday clearly shows N12 out and back.
  9. I saw a DCM chrome rider race with a hydration pack. He tucked it underneath his shirt, like the enduro riders do. You could only see the mouth piece sticking out next to his neck.
  10. It's probably not my problem during their race - I don't ride there. I feel sorry for the other riders that get hit with pee by an incontinent adult. My real issue is men who are too lazy to walk/ride 100m up the street, but to whip it out and whizz against anything, anywhere before a race in clear view of women and small children.
  11. I'll change the topic: It's more of a request.
  12. We arrived early at Bakwena and parked close to the start. We dropped off a VA rider and waited at the car for our start just past <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />7am. A VC rider parked close and relieved himself against a home owner?s wall, not even 3m from where we stood, he didn?t even turn his back on the people.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> So I know some races don?t have enough toilets or it?s too far away from the parking. Some guys go the distance to pee behind a tree and out of sight, which is acceptable (to me). But this person parked his car 200m from the toilets and he could?ve used the vacant cubicles he passed on his way to the start chutes. That?s just pathetic. I?m sure this dude doesn?t urinate against the local mall entrance on their weekend trip to the shops with his family. It should not be acceptable at bike races either. Please guys, be more considerate at races and use the toilets. If you feel you must relieve yourself at a race, go and do it behind a tree. Get on your bike and cycle a few meters away from the crowd. I heard some guy relieved himself in the VA bunch during the race. He either didn?t bother to go before the race or he is not properly potty trained. But on a 2h ride, come on! He probably saw it on tv with the TDF riders, peeing while they ride on a 5-6h race over 230km. Fester2009-11-11 01:49:01
  13. I agree with Frosty. I took a satchet because it was there (and cold). My waterbottles still had water in. If riders are desperate for a drink, they would stop and refill or ask another rider for a drink if they don't want to pull over. Personally I think dropping the sachet in a 100m radius from the waterpoint (in a road race) is not a sin. Fester2009-10-26 03:11:22
  14. That's just k@k style. Do the right thing and let your entry be cancelled after 7 days of non payment. Then you give the guys on the waiting list a fair chance.
  15. The child's performance, and the (lack of) acknowledgement thereof that is under scrutiny here. In most races, only a handful u/16 girls race. What's the point to hand out 1st,2nd,3rd places if in most cases, only 3 (lost city), 3 (ride for sight) and sometimes none race U/16. Where's the motivation to try harder if you're going to get a prize anyway? I heard that a certain dad 'rides' undercover to help his daughter in the race. Now this girl wants a reward afterwards? No thanks.
  16. So, 'the mat had flipped and distracted the cyclists'. Seems more like the mat distracted and flipped the cyclists.
  17. Epilady died a quick death when it was introduced in the market years ago - for obvious reasons. It hurts bad! I don't think your hair get less, but the hair thins out and becomes softer. It also takes longer to grow out. But i don't think it's worth all that pain. From what I understand the only way to get rid of hair, is laser treatment/s.
  18. And that's after he rode a hell of a race at Harties on Sat. He broke away with a Clab rider and the A group never saw them again. Well done, Jules.
