  1. I agree with scotty: a touch screen on-line voting at the stations. Once the final vote is cast, the results are up immediately. At our voting station on the East Rand, I was dotted with a normal marker on my thumb nail, I only received provincial form, when I asked where my national form is, the dude handed me two more provincial forms. The voting boxes are unsealed board boxes. It's the best recipe for corruption. And what's up with 'voting at any station'? People who don't even stay in the area, have a say in our ward/province.
  2. I received the 'Triathlete' magazine in my goodie bag at last week's mtb event. Plenty of good articles, and a nice write up about some of the best competitors in triathlons. It's only R20. This mag may be a good substitute when your regular bike magazines suck.
  3. Glad you're ok. I know it's not always easy, but please team up with buddies to go ride. Cowards that they are, will think twice before they take on 4 or 5 guys. My heart almost stops everytime I see a hijack thread. Be safe!!!
  4. The guys and girls who walk up the trails are tired. They don't expect faster guys behind them. Give them a loud (friendly) shout to save some track for you. I'm sure they'll move. Yesterday's race was flat and fast for the 50km riders. Normally the route will clear by the time the faster guys approach the finish.
  5. Helloise, you kinda asked for all this chirping when you called your boobs, kanne (eish sissie!)Triumph makes an excellent sportsbra. Works as well off and onroad.
  6. But very few people can resist a bargain. (Go have a look at how the hubbers brawled over the 2 polar HR monitors just the other day. Mine, mine, mine....)In general, overkeen buyers are blind sighted by an incredibly low price on a part, wheelset, frame, the buyers forget to ask proof of purchase and payment. I'm with Mallo on this one. Have sellers make their identity known.
  7. The organisers should mention something on the on-line entries or forms that riders will pay extra for late entries. They can't just thumb suck what the day entry fee will be. Babbas Lodge races and old Wimpie in vereeniging love to do this. Ask them about their bs 'penalty fee'. It's just a fat chance they try to take (and get away with).
  8. But point out that the rider behind you is blocking visibility and ask him to either pass of fall back. Yes, those guys are dumb a$$es for hitting a woman. Q: Would they have slapped her if she didn't comment on the lack of lights on their bikes and just let them pass?
  9. I for one am very sceptical about buying second hand parts (unless I know the seller VERY well). Honest buyers should start asking for proof of purchase: If the parts were bought seperate, ask for the paid receipt. If it comes off a whole bike purchased, ask where the bike was bought and do your research. And the seller won't feel offended if he has nothing to hide. I'd think he'd be too happy to show his proof of purchase.
  10. Will it be selling at a very good price of R100 per shirt, just like the organisers of the Induna did last year? (panda clothing nogal!)
  11. Yeah, that opens another can of worms. Driver gets a car, deliberately without a licence to drive, willfully riding on a public road, without the necessary knowledge and skill, knowingly he could cause harm to other road users because of his lack of roadworthiness. I know the law does not work that way, but I wish the courts would interpret incident like this in that way.
  12. How would you know who or what this person is like? He had a gripe, shared it with the rest of the cycling fraternity. I don't know you or Intern, but the way you sling mud, says Intern's got a bit more scruples.
  13. Mallo, exactly what I just wanted to say. Tanya Harford should stick to what she did before trying to organise cycle events (I read she played tennis). She's the reason we pay this huge entry fee for 94.7 (venue infrastructure my a$$). And now she's got her claws in the fast one. And now they withhold prize money? With Pick 'n Pay backing her up, that's just bad business.
  14. @ The Crow. The butt slapping: It's just silly. It's like that rider wants to say: "Oh, look at my nice, tight buttocks - o yes and I'm passing someone..."
  15. Did anyone see the sorry excuse for a shuttle? The bikes were put on a trailer, leaning the bikes against each other to one side without any protection in between the bikes. Poor guy who placed his bike on the trailer first. Probably needs a new paint job..
  16. If bikes, walkers, runners, are allowed to use the same trail, bikers should give way to the pedestrians. I don't know where horses fit in though. Be nice and accommodating. It takes very little to say hi and move over. You could've ended up with a date tonight.
  17. Global Economy is suffering... We can be glad we got pins for our numbers... Next year' date=' 2 pins max... anything more will be R50 up on race entry fees. Does it really matter? The goodie bag? I don't think so, I mean people end up throwing them away anyway. [/quote'] Receiving a goodie bag is nice. With Pick 'n Pay as main sponsor, I'd expect something at least. Energy bar, drink whatever. A guy at my work didn't have to buy body deodorant for the last year since I started passing the free Mitchums to him!
  18. That start group sounds like the vets 30-34. Elites start at 5h30. A friend received his license last year with someone else's picture on it. What's next?
  19. Parking in the cyclelab complex is scarce. No goodie bag (a Bar one sou vorentoe gesmaak het oppad huis toe) They do ask for your 2008 license. But they sort problems out efficiently. Those who want to do line entries, I see they put a board up: Limited nrs. Better get there fast.
  20. It's because they wanted to use their own little entry data base(that sucked by the way), own seeding, that everything is twisted. And how do you advertise a shuttle back to start but can't help the masses? Tanya Harford Events (whatever) should stick to the 94.7 race. I asked for lic Ladies, I start with elite men. So far I've heard three different start times for the H group. Now I'll have to go and sort it out tomorrow as well. Michelle: You should've asked the woman why they can't sort the problems out BEFORE we collect the numbers.
  21. What would happen if a back wheel seize up? Will it still turn but eventually stop or does it stop straight away?
