  1. It says she was on a cheese farm, & fortunately cheese plants dont attract too many predators. Of course, large deposits of yogurt act like quicksand so can be hazardous.
  2. life's too short

    Oi! Fand...

That's cool. I can stop changing my golf shirts to match Tiger's, each day of his tournaments now.

Neither, you cant be close enough to know anything useful about them beyond the obvious; and why would anyone over the age of 12 want to model themselves on another individual? Seems a very scared way to go through life.
  5. "Lance Armstrong brought to his knees by unknown entity" Brilliant. Just the title made me laugh out loud and get stared at in the office. If the Hub is a wasp's nest, then this title was the biggest whack with a stick. It's obviously insulting & obviously true - he didnt win, even when the top guys werent trying. But he is/was a great cyclist and probably deserves more respect than the thread title gives him. Thanks for the laugh - the subsequent debate lived down to expectations!
  6. Over our way we've got the Troeteldierwinkel Boets & their big hit - East Rand Boys & West Rand Girls.
  7. Panaralo - a creamy dessert
  8. Ok folks - knock yourself out with this one: Peugeot My fave version so far is - piggott (as in, Lester, the racehorse rider).
  9. You say "tomaytoes" and I say "tomartoes".
  10. I never buy those as I dont know how to say it & dont want to be attacked by plain-clothes Hubbers in Wimpy when I get it wrong.
  11. I think you've got a choice with a lot of these. (shock horror - no, say it isnt so. Surely there's only one right way and that's the way I say it!). Reason being cuz a lot of them are in foreign - like Be-Ann-Key. The French call their capital Parree; where we all know its really Paris (named after that blonde bird). Anyone calling it Parree is gonna get laughed at & accused of being less than masculine. So same with the foreign names for bikes and bits - feel free to go ahead and mangle the words to your heart's content, it dont matter and if enough people do it then, hey, then that's the correct pronunciation (in this here neck of the woods anyway). I dont ask about the dedicaciaicdidecacici that one Eldron said cuz then it looks like i'm interested in Raleigh and those days are gone. Gonna go for a coffee now - just a quick one, so it'll be an expresso. Oh - if you want to push my buttons on saying something wrong "Cliff Richards" does it for me. Not cuz I like geriatric gays, just cuz its wrong.
  12. Maybe because it looks a bit posher people seem to be behaving themselves in a very un-Hublike manner. It all seems cycling related and an awful lot of f*ckwits seem to have stopped posting rubbish, for the time being at least. I guess thats a good thing. Yeah, its a good thing.

    truth

I like Cajees because it's accessible to everyone & not sniffy to folk who arent pros.
  14. Was there last night and they were great. Horrible, horrible traffic management in and out; got back to Jo'burg 2:30am. Anyone got a spare ticket or two for England / Germany?...in the next hour!
  15. +1 There's nothing wrong with Cajees as long as you know what you are dealing with. Prices are always very negotiable and servicing bikes is not their thing.
  16. Sorry for you WW - I think you need to worry more about your family and friends than the robbers. Are you getting any sympathy over this? Being threatened with a knife is helluva stressful. Losing stuff is no biggie; if i'd sent my son out and that had happened i'd blame myself & be grateful he wasnt hurt. Suggest you get a pet that likes you unconditionally.
  17. They matched a very good side today, good game, they're on track. Where's that Cervelo now it's time for him to eat Bafana's (unwashed) shorts?
  18. Such a great vibe around the place, and watching the concert on TV last night the African acts looked totally credible on that stage. Love the Black-Eyed Peas but their stuff doesnt work for me in a stadium setting. If we win today the place will go ballistic for at least the next 2 weeks, cuz we'll then just need a point from the next 2 games to go through to the next round. Holding thumbs for that, it will be amazing.

  20. Geez maybe I'm one of those owners. We used to have this dog once, he used to chase anything on a bicycle. Man, there was tears and complaints and medical bills. In the end we had to take his bike away.
  21. Back again to see that this is still running / limping along. BigH - hair wax, soft wax you put in your ummm hair to give it a bit of a lift. From the Body Shop it's a bit expensive to be smearing on my bike. Scotty - I was alone in my room with only my bike for company when the full horror of the chain's condition struck me - covered in what looks like drying tar and grit. It was dark and you were long gone over the mountain by then. JR - Tiger balm - I like it, whether it works or not, I like it. So along with the majority 2 voters, i went with sun lotion spray, it left a greasy film and reduced my guilty feelings a little. Using chamois cream has the definite whiff of desperation about it.... ok more desperation than the other options. Tomorrow I might clean and regrease it properly.
  22. Great day, such a good event, thanks to the organizers and maybe the whole town as everyone seems to get involved. No results up yet on CC is a bit unusual /annoyin.
  23. Thanks for the tip BigH but I dont know what this stuff is. When I googled Salusa 65 I got: "The Galactic Federation, Galctic Channeling site (dotcom)" of a guy called Mike Quinsey. Not sure if this is what you meant or why the missus would object or whether extraterrestrial telepathy can clean a mucky chain. And I never figured you were a closet Trekkie .
  24. So, away from home on the eve of the Kremetart, I see my drivetrain is in a helluva state & what would make me feel less guilty is if i could throw some more oil on it. But not being that way inclined to think ahead & pack some, the 3 choices above are what I was left with in the room of my B&B. Which would've been best or what else in your luggage might have done the job?
