  1. Has anyone received correspondence from the Road Traffic Management Corporation? I just received a letter: ALLEGED INCONSIDERATE, RECKLESS AND/OR NEGLIGENT DRIVING BEHAVIOUR In the correspondence the following is noted: 1. My vehicle registration number 2. Vehicle Type, Make, Model and Colour 3. ID Number, Surname & Name 4. Date, Time & Location of Incident This alleged offense was reported by a 'Voluntary Public Traffic Observer' and reported to the National Traffic Call Centre. In brief the content deals with me exceeding the legal speed limit and weaving between lanes without using indicators. It further explains that the matter has been entered in there records and forwarded to the relevant traffic authority etc. I have lodged an objection to this via the e-mail provided and listed all the necessary legislation and gave my side of the story of which I will not bore you hubbers. In brief, I did not exceed the speed limit nor was I weaving between the cars. What I am guilty of is changing lanes without indicating. (have only ever received 3 traffic fines, for parking violations, in 25yrs ) Was wondering if any other hubbers have received such a letter and what are your views/thoughts.
  2. bump
  3. Got an offer on a new pair of Northwave Aerator 3 road shoes. Was wondering if any hubber could possibly advise on the quality of shoe and perhaps what price I should offer for them.
  4. i'm wondering where he pinned his number too? not much place for his chocolate (log)

  6. I thought the Expo was a waist of time. Specials were none existent. Why exhibitors come to the show selling there wares at the same prices as they are in the shop is beyoned me. Price fixing if you ask me. A few rands difference here and there. Saw about 4 bicycle brands and only about 2 or 3 bicycle shops. What about the rest? Why are they not pitching! Everyone is keen to buy something at the expo. I am in the market for a new helmet and shoes but the prices were exactly the same as buying them in the store. So whats the use! Make it worth our while. Where is the competition?
  7. Team Xtreme- Oasis + a few other guys. What a bunch of fools (to put it mildly). They waited to regroup at the top of Suikerbossie this morning. From there they proceeded to ride as a group of around 15 plus riders into Camps Bay. This caused a huge tailback with some angry motorist tailng them. They rode as if it was the day of the Argus with full road closure. 2,3 and even 4 cyclist abreast using to full width of the road. No consideration for anyone else. This is the blatant arrogance that I have come across from a few teams already. Also came across no fewer than 5 tjops without helmets, on fairly expensive machinery. Suppose thay spent all their money on the bike without considering the price of a helmet! It's teams like this that take the fun out of cycling. Another hubber started a thread called 'Name and Shame'. Perhaps this should be a permanent post.
  8. Perhaps donating your old cycling helmet and other gear could assist in alleviating this problem.
  9. bought mine at Builders Warehouse. HILTI product I think. go to the section where they sell the hooks. mounted 4 bikes (2 mtb & 2 road) vertically in the garage at a cost of less than R300. took me all of an hour. been up for 6 months and no issues.
  10. so sad brings back not so pleasant memories. my heart goes out to his family and friends.
  11. Favourite Things: All I can say is, have a look at the pics I've uploaded to the gallery. (will keep them coming as the week progresses) These were my proudest moments.
  12. Thanx so much Ronelle for the upload of these pics. I normally finish some hours later :)and never get to see these guys in action. Cool
  13. I'd go for the Continental Gatorskins. I have mine for 4yrs and have not had a puncture yet.(touch wood) Completed 3 DC's plus an unthinkable amount of fun & training ride in them.
  14. thanx Wannabe. i PM'd u my email address.
  15. Can anyone assist please or point me in the right direction. I would appreciate it. My mates and I are of various strenghts. We would like to know where on the road we should be in order to come in under 3hrs-6hrs. The more splits along the route the better.
  16. was my 1st 3 Passes and would have loved a medal for my 2hr 43min!
  17. I posted something similar in the week and got some good comments. A few guys shot me down. (as expected- some use this forum to vent their frustations I hope the guys that rode had an excellent day in the saddle. Unfortunately for me it was rather expensive. I only got a late reply from the boss giving me time off so would have had to pay the R280 late entry fee. That plus my travelling, food, drinks etc. would have set me back by roughly R380. The 3 Passes is taking place tomorrow from Cape Academy. Much cheaper and closer as well. PPA funride. Have nothing against the 99er but the price tends to exclude some cyclists. Even my buddies that can afford are reluctant to do it. Airbender gave a nice breakdown (justification) as to why the fees are so high. didnt make a difference to me though. As Willehond explained to me, 'take your bike and ride somewhere else'
  18. Agent, don't despair. i do 90% of my training on an indoor trainer using the downloaded dvd's and still manage to do an argus sub3. what you are missing is the wind through your hair. (sit in front of a fan)
  19. Personally I think that this event's late entry is a total rip-off. Just because it is a seeding event for the Argus, is it necessary to charge R280! An early entry is R170. That means an additional R110 is added for a late entry. What warrants this price hike! "Has cycling become an elitist sport!" This was a headline in the Cape Argus last week.
  20. i do see that the ride is by invitation only, but does anyone perhaps know what the cost is per team?
  21. Please assist. Where can i order an ICE wristband from? I only found international sites. i'm in Cape town.
  22. always sad to loose a fellow mate. RIP
  23. excellent pics Ronelle. thanx for sharing them. i missed the ride because of a cold. appreciate it.
  24. guys/dolls i really appreciate the friendly banter wrt this topic. it is so light hearted and just shows the friendship and comaradery between cyclist. this has really brought a smile to my face.
