  1. Myself and partner did the Trail on our single speeds, what a blast! It's really depressing being home in Jozi already!
  2. Levers and calipers are definitely available separately for Shimano brakes. Yes, even locally. I have the Deore 615's and they are amazing, cheap, powerful, reliable, quiet, easy to bleed, pads are cheap. I run 180mm rotors and I can lock either wheel at will, at any speed, but with huge amounts of modulation. And for less than R1500 for the set you can't go wrong.
  3. It's going to be a mission. Rather get a CX frame. Cotic have a nice one.
  4. 2 of the bikes we donated this week. Casper and Norbert will now ride for free as opposed to paying for taxi fare.
  5. I bought a cheap rear wheel and swap it out
  6. Bringing the VerHauen this year Rouxtjie?
  7. If anyone's interested: http://www.strava.com/activities/56190430 Last year's monster.
  8. How's your BB?
  9. We all need to appreciate that we are privileged to be able to race on what is essentially public land and let sanity prevail. We all know that there are walkers, dogs and other cyclists on this part of the spruit/park and we need to be prepared to wait/avoid these other park users. If I was the dog's owner, I'd be mad as all hell. I thought the route was great, even though I was too chicken to ride the new jumps....
  10. Vusa and myself before Delta dash 2014. he did 11 laps of 5,8km before imploding. He fell twice in the beginning laps but soldiered on nicely. Congrats to this young man - he has promise!
  11. What a lekker day out. The route broke me though, only managed 14 laps...was aiming for 16-18. Next year I'll be back! Was lekker to have the guys from work and Vusa, Build-a-Bike recipient, take part as well.
  12. Can these be used to help with the procurement of some airtime?
  13. Approx same lap length as last year?
  14. Save your pennies and ride more. Nothing wrong with your current bike. If you must spend cash, upgrade to a lighter fork and better wheels.
  15. How are the trails looking? What's this "surprise"? I'm bringing 9 people from work to join in. It's going to be a blast!
  16. 7-speed with DT shifters, 600 RD, 105 FD and cranks, 600 brake levers and arches. Reynolds 501 frame. San Marco Rolls saddle. Used it to commute this morning - super-fun and comfy.
  17. At the moment I'm running 2.25 Nobby Nic front, 2.25 Ardent back on my 29er SS. I'm enjoying them.
  18. Majik is so small, you can't really get that lost.... Here's a link to my strava activity: http://www.strava.com/activities/100170299
  19. If anyone needs a new headset for an Inbred: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/85146-fsa-orbit-mx-headset-1-18-external-non-tapered/ I'm replacing my worn out headset on my Inbred with a nice red one.
  20. You enter at the bottom at the vineyard and ride up, up, up and then down through the forest. Go all the way to the top, the ride down is worth it. There are some tricky bits near the top and the singletrack near the very bottom can be quite tight but it's a great ride, especially if you don't need to ride further than 15km.
  21. Hunter Cycling in Braamfontein
  22. Plenty guys have done J2C on SS. Ask Grant Usher, Nic White et al.
  23. I'll pay for the postage - PM me bank details and I'll send my address.
