  2. I'm bummed to be missing this one for sure.
  3. It's happening at 17h40 if anyone's interested in listening.
  4. Guess who's going to be on 702 this afternoon making someone's birthday wish come true? Yup - Build-a-Bike!
  5. Recently a nomination came in for a bike for a gardener called Martin. I put this one together from parts. The fork is from Andre, the frame from Gerhard, the wheels from Terrence and other parts from all over the place. It’s set up as a single speed for perfect commuting reliability. He seems chuffed, and we couldn’t be happier! Thanks Dino for nominating him! I wish him many happy miles. http://www.buildabikesa.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_0851-2-300x225.jpg http://www.buildabikesa.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_0853-2-300x225.jpg
  6. Was too fast for my 32x18. Spun out like crazy! Very fast 39km.
  7. Both 2013 XCO races at Modders so far have been great. Keep it up.
  8. Did I read that right? A beer stop for single speeders?
  9. 3 reasons. Size, weight, cost.
  10. Yup, I'm in JHB. In Capetown they have www.benbikes.org.za
  11. I am so proud to say that to-date we have had 44 individuals donate parts and bikes to this initiative! Most of the donors are hubbers - you're a great bunch! I have donated over 20 bikes since I started this initiative - thanks to everyone for your support!
  12. I must offer a huge thanks to Ian Sullivan who donated 2 forks, a wheel, some tyres and some other parts yesterday!
  13. Nice fork.
  14. Hi, my name's Nick and I'm a banana-peel-thrower....
  15. 120-140mm fork in a steel SS....droooooool. Big tyres, comfy ride.......rollin' over s*it
  16. I can see the future; and this bike is in mine. Love at first sight
  17. Awesome thanks! I'll pop you a mail in the morning. Much appreciated!
  18. And seatposts? Assembly compound....right!
  19. A big thanks to Tom for donating the fork that I have desperately been needing to get a bike ready and donated. It matches the frame perfectly as well. To finish this particular bike I also need a MTB crankset if anyone has one to spare, as well as a 27,2mm seatpost.
  20. I change chains at 1% stretch (I use a chain-checker) My last chain on my SS lasted 1565km and cost me R90. My chainring is just starting to show some slight wear after just over 4000km. My steel SS cogs still look new. If you change chains before 1% stretch, your chainrings and cassette should last many chain changes, if you are good with cleaning and lube.
  21. XTR 960 ala Jeff Jones. Finally done and installed. I may polish them at a later stage.
