  1. Yoh Yoh Yoh. Does this start at the same place as the December Garden Route Trail race? Can we have a mini-enduro in December when I'm there?
  2. Do these bolts have a different thread to normal chainring bolts?
  3. Just remember to use 29er-specific valve caps....
  4. Good luck recognizing anyone in a crowd that big. It's an awesome time though.
  5. That mount is 45 degrees off. It's supposed to be held on my 2 bands, not just one. That's also why the GPS moves about, because it's not "clicked" into place. The "click" is 90 degrees from the insertion position. Use the longest bands and use 2 of them with the tabs at 45 degrees from vertical/horizontal. I hope this makes sense. ....or mount the holder on the bar itself...
  6. Ahhhh, I liked that downhill.... I'm sure the new kloof will be awesome though. Make it fast, dangerous and technical and it'll be a winner.
  7. Depends a lot on your riding style. A Nobby Nic back tyre lasts me about 2000km in mixed riding.
  8. Half-link schmalf-link. KMC-Z610 for the hugest of wins. R100 and strong as mutha russia. Nice bling shiny nickel-plated finish too. Get em on CRC.... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/kmc-z610-single-speed-hx-chain/rp-prod25433
  9. Yesterday was the 2-year anniversary of the start of this initiative. I haven't counted, but I suspect I have given away about 26-30 bikes.
  10. Please tell me the route is much improved compared to last year and we are not sent up the stupid side of the concrete mountain only to have a paved descent on the other side. Also, "dondering" through Gerotek sucked. Give us some good news - make it more like Van Gaalens and I'll be there.
  11. I took my Inbred to play at King's Kloof. Man, this bike loves the technical stuff - the ups and the downs and all the bumpy stuff in between.
  12. I just started with this vintage Hansom build: So far it has matching Shimano 600 tri-colour brake calipers and levers, Dura-Ace headset, SR Sakae bars and Sugino seat post bolt.
  13. I'm pretty sure the holes are made by moles or mole rats. Plenty mongoose there too.
  14. I have officially started the build. Hansom Super Prestige frame Dura-Ace Headset Cromoly welded stem Shimano 600 Tri-colour brake levers and calipers Sugino seat clamp bolt SR Sakae bars
  15. I rode Kings on Saturday - did the black (longest and most technical) route. 22.5km / 650m ascent. It's an awesome and beautiful place to ride but don't go alone. If you crash and cant ride out it may be a while before someone finds you. I would say that there's no security issues though. Take your climbing legs and make sure you run tubeless tyres with nice strong sidewalls. Here's my strava activity: http://www.strava.com/activities/75293990
  16. Then I'm glad I chose Shimano brakes. A blessing I am reminded of on almost every ride.
  17. Glad you're ok. Was the taxi driver officialy charged? If so with what offence? Reckless driving? Attempted murder? 'king bastards these taxis.
  18. They used to be 185-only until a couple years ago....
  19. I don't believe that 1mm of extra pad contact will make a noticeable difference to your braking performance. My rear brake has the same symptoms cos I am too lazy to adjust my caliper when tensioning my chain on my SS. I have Deore M596 brakes, and don't notice a performance difference between when the pad has full contact vs 95% contact with the rotor. Just go ride your bike.
  20. Does anyone know if a threaded BMX freewheel will fit on an old Shimano 105 threaded rear hub?
  21. I'd ride a road bike on dirt roads before I rode that bike....
  22. Stans FTW.
  23. DON'T DO IT
  24. Thanks Bees! If anyone can assist with one or more 27.2mm seatposts it would be a great help.
  25. I actually still have that Bianchi. So far I have Campy brakes, BB and FD for it, as well as a nice wheelset with campy hubs and freebody. It's a Bianchi and it deserves full-Campagnolo don't you think? One challenge is the headset for that bike as it's a 1-inch threadless fork with a carbon steerer so I need the appropriate headset and compression plug which are both hard to find.
