  1. Me too. Bring it.
  2. You must single-speed it man, you are can like to be resident hard-man.
  3. Good luck on the climbs. Enjoy the descents.
  4. Another bike to a worthy gent. Joel lives at Zandspruit squatter camp and does gardening work in Weltevredenpark and Parkhurst. This bike beats traveling by taxi any day. Thanks Melvin for nominating him!!!
  5. It's not easy but oh so much fun. That satellite descent will either make you feel like a hero or a zero....
  6. I'll just walk it like last year....
  7. Me three
  8. Cant wait for this one. A proper mtb race for the masses.
  9. This will give you an idea. Bought a Blackspire chainring on CRC.
  10. Have 2 races. A MTB race and a road race. In the road race, all must use a road bike and vice versa. Gather the results and average them to see who the better riders are.
  11. what brake levers are you using?
  12. Kennedy has had this bike for 9 years and was referred to us when his brakes failed and he had an accident, causing his front wheel to be damaged beyond repair. The accident also ripped a chunk out of his saddle. We were able to build him a new front wheel and replace his saddle. We also made sure his brakes work like new! We wish Kennedy many more safe miles on his trusty bike.
  13. This weekend I managed to get some bike stuff done. I built and donated a red Hansom to Kleinbooi from Diepsloot. He's a handyman and often works far from home.
  14. Just don't stretch before the ride. You can hurt a cold muscle and stretching actually decreases muscle power for up to 2 hours afterwards. Stretch after riding.
  15. When I get sick I stop all riding until I know I am at least 95% well. I got sick 2 weeks before Magalies Monster and didn't ride for 10 days, I had hectic flu and a bad sinus infection. Antibiotics were necessary and were taken. I had a strong ride at Monster and all was good.
  16. My hub (Hope Pro II Evo SS/Trials) has a 8mm allen key bolt on each side. My multitool has a 8mm allen key built in. Are we talking chain tension "tightness"? I run my chain quite loose - about 25-50mm up-and-down play. If you use a SS-specific cog and chainring and the chainline is perfect this should be fine.
  17. And for the price, the Inbred is utterly unbeatable.....
  18. Inbred with horizontal dropouts work a treat. It's really easy to get proper tension and it's super easy to remove the wheel. I don't move the brake caliper every time I adjust tension either. I have a bolt-on hub and use a tug on the drive side only. Neat, clean and easy. Do it.
  19. Fixed.
  20. I received them as donations as part of my Build-a-Bike initiative. Not one bike is complete or functional. Yet. I have a few old-school BB's and cranks that will work. Headsets too. I am busy stripping the frames of all parts and will be building up as many functional bikes as possible. I have about 5 or 6 Hansom frames, some with original forks, some without. I have 2 or 3 Le Jeunes, a 61cm Peugeot Phantom with a broken fork, an old DHC, an old Invader (remember those?) 2 x Treks without derailleur hangers, and a few more random frames and forks. My Build-a-Bike initiative is all about getting reliable bikes to commuters and this normally means MTB's. So.......... if anyone is interested in buying a steel frame that will be good for a SS project, let me know. All funds raised will be ploughed straight into getting more MTB's built up to be given away.
  21. So who's keen to build a SS road bike?
  22. The question is: which will you ride more?
  23. I was contacted by a lady who employs a gardener who recently had an accident on his mountain bike on his way to work. He needs a new v-brake front wheel. Can anyone assist? I also need MTB wheels of all kinds and MTB frames, cranks and seatposts. I have these 2 bikes ready for donation which are awaiting collection.
  24. Are you using a QR or bolt on? Post pics of your setup.
  25. Do some chain line math. Www.singlespeedafrica.co.za/blog
