  1. I've heard that often its the exact same mold... the guys just do "afterhour" shifts to make money during downtime. Or something like that.
  2. This whole arguement is just like PowerBalance, where some perceived advantage is supposed to justify a massive price... I can promise you that if someone blindfolds you and lets you ride a "real" Pina, and then a "fake" Pina (that's probably made 500 meters down the road from the "real" Pina factory in China), you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. That's what the brand names try to convince you of, that by putting their sticker on the bike that it magically justifies a price that's 10x more, and that all others will break and kill you. Not so. I'm sure most Hubbers are tired of hearing about my 29er (blank Chinese frame). I've thrown that thing down Bergplaas that made people wonder what was coming past them. Didn't flinch, rock solid. Brand slut much? Midlife Crisis? Want some bragging rights? Then sure, go and get yourself a R40k frame. I'll be riding right next to you on my R4k frame, and then ride away from you. The frame above is made in a Dogma mold, with carbon laid in by guys that know what they are doing. On the Chinese sites you can get yourself frames that are clones of Dogmas, Cervelos, latest Specialized's, etc. I'd be damned if I buy a "branded" bike/frame again. That's like believing that a shirt that says Billabong justifies a price that's 3 times higher than a shirt with no branding on. BOTH are made by a 4 year old Chinese boy in a basement sweatshop of a Chinese restaurant in Guandong Province.
  3. Here's my opinion. Where to start... Unbranded Dogma clone FSA clone cranks Unbranded one-piece carbon bars/stem MicroShift Aeris Carbon groupset (aparently lighter than Dura Ace) Mavic Ksyrium wheels Alligator cabling Light Weight QR's YBN top of the range chain SpeedPlay pedals Deda tape
  4. Again... What is a "real" Dogma... And superior?
  5. I know at least 2 guys with "fake" Chinese Pinarellos. I built the one. Gorgeous. If 99% of carbon frames come out of China... what makes one fake and the other 1000% better? The country where they hang the final pricetag on? Give me a "fake" any day.
  6. Probably the bunch from Walmer at 5:30. About a 45-50km ride depending where you start from.
  7. Makro. 7am
  8. The old pricing used to be R10 for a week day, and R20 for weekends. While the trail is only ridable for 6-7km they really shouldn't be asking R20. Regular money for half the trail ain't right.
  9. Yeah, was vocal on their new Facebook page asking what the status of things were, seems new management is also committed to getting the place back to its former glory. Very good news.
  10. After a couple of years riding you'll find that you'll be able to predict many pedalstrokes ahead of obstacles whether your cranks will touch rocks or whatnots. Then it'll be a case of stopping your pedaling for maybe 0.5 seconds - and then you can pedal straight through the obstacles without the cranks/pedals bashing.

  12. What a dwis.
  13. Ideally you should watch that video in reverse - so that you can see her zipping down rather.
  14. American Classic all the way for me. The non-Race version is under R5000.
  15. Like Grumpy says, the motor vehicle companies closed up show, and there were lots of riots at the time. Whites who could moves out to the suburbs leaving the blacks and hispanics to fend for themselves. The result is Detroit today. If you are sceptic, google it. http://www.amren.com...ory-about-race/ "Considering the fact that the city of Detroit is 83 per cent black (and a further 7 per cent Hispanic), you see an awful lot of white faces around TechTown, and for that matter, at Quicken Loans." Edit: As of 2012, Detroit is 89% black. Pretty much the same as with Haiti. http://www.stormfron...race/haiti.html
  16. Yep, I only count 5 as well?
  17. Where? Wouldn't mind visiting that next year when we are there.
  18. Have raced quite a bit of marathons on a full rigid 26er. No room for error going down the rocky descents. All riders should start off on a 80-100mm travel 26er hardtail for a few years, and then move over.
