  1. Costs more than a bike. How much does it weigh?
  2. I hear a lot of good things about Geax these days - going to try them as my next tyres.
  3. "Even their UST models?" Yes. Although the thicker sidewalls makes sealing work well. Schalbe NN optimise grip and weight - not grip and reliability.
  4. Evaluating lights seems more complicated than evaluating bikes.
  5. Nobby Nics are the wrong tyre for you - they grip brilliantly but are a very soft rubber so the sidewalls are soft to sharp rocks and similar.
  6. Popeye - pics or we don't believe your imaginary friend is real.
  7. Popeye - pics or we don't believe your imaginary friend is real.
  8. Its hard to buy a bad bike under R20 000 - let alone R40 000. Maybe he should revise his budget downwards - not upwards.
  9. "but never had one that wont fit, And thats for my converted rims and my UST rims. essentially the rims are basically the same obviously the difference in the UST rims are that there are no holes where the spokes enter the rims" I have two seperate tubless tyres not fit. Both Scwalbe's on Alex Rims and DT Swiss Rims. The bike shop gave up too. Tubeless rims are not the same. They use pressure to seat the tyre. so it won't come off. It can happen with non-tubless (UST) rims that the tyre comes off on a corner - especially if you are heavy or ride hard or underinflate. It has not happened to me but it happened to some others in the forum here. Covie is right that tubeless is awesome - best upgrade you can make to a bike. Edit: Spelling.
  10. Just don't sweat and you will be fine. Apparantly.
  11. "Considering the tubeless option" Careful Gilroy. Not all things are compatable. You could buy the tyres and find that your rims don't accept them i.e. too tight or even too loose - true tubeless (or UST ) tyres are way tighter than normal tyres. True tubeless needs UST tyres, UST rims, internal liners (rim strips and tape), special valves, a type of slime (liquid latex or similar) and a compressor. Tubeless tyres often have thicker sidewalls to prevent sidewall gashes (often unfixable on the trail or race).
  12. If you are spending that much on a bike you will want to try a test ride before you buy. Just imagine you get good value for money on the components etc but hate riding the bike because (say) its geometry is too aggressive and you feel like you are falling off the front the whole time.
  13. "any ally bike gets paint lifting and corrotion if sweat is not washed off it" This claim will require a little backing up before I believe you.
  14. I suggest spending R38 000 on the bike and R2 000 on a good grammar and spelling course.
  15. Does 100kgs include helmet, gear and water? That can weigh up to 5kgs.
  16. Am I reading this correctly? People do downhill on a Unicycle?
  17. That Burry guy said 29er definatly faster but he has more fun on a 26er - since I don't earn money from riding that settles it for me - 26er.
  18. I had a very bad experience there in terms of quality of workmanship. Never going back.
  19. "It happened on the road close to a township, why is Northern Farms even mentioned? If there have been no incidents in the farm itself what is the problem?" Because - I see many riders riding to and from Northern Farms - even on Sunday after this event. If I don't post then they wont know and then sooner or later "Pooka" - a wife loses a husband, a child loses a father - you get the pikcha, my china?
  20. I don't know. Link? There was one incident reported several months ago where a rider rode into two people who had a gun - but on balance of the facts they were probably poachers and not hijackers.
  21. Note: Northern Farms itself has not had an incident since they implemented security guards and moved routes away from the roads.
  22. Rode at Northern Farms yesterday. My buddy locked his keys in his car and waited for the spares at the gate while the rest of us rode. A short while later another cyclist arrives at the gate without a bike. He was riding from Paulshof to Northern farms when three darker complexion gentlemen decided to apprehend him with a knife - he apparent got off and was going to fight back - as which point they produced a handgun pointed at his head. He handed over the bike without further fuss. He was about a km outside Northern Farms towards Diepsluit.
  23. My own personal speling Nazi - how ncie!
  24. Whose afraid of the big bad troll! la la la lala! (I voted for him to come back)
  25. There are a thousand ways to solve this problem. They seem to lack imagination.
