  1. I had a GT Avalanche 1.0 2009. Great bike for its price. If you weigh less than 75kgs maybe go for something lighter but more fragile.
  2. I really want to do this race. Will have to be the 2012 one.
  3. "Vibram Five Fingers!" No. No. No. People will laugh at you and call you monkey-boy!
  4. "Get yourself to Randburg Runner in Linden (take you current pair of running shoes with) and they will help you out." Done. Tried on different shoes, they watched me run etc. Much better than dealing with mimumum wage types at Sportsman's warehouse. Got a pair of Sauconies in the end. Thanks Mampara and everyone.
  5. I want to start running to help my MTB'ing. I know nothing about running shoes other than they come in "Neutral or Pronate". Any advice on which shoes to buy? Any advice on how I tell if I am neutral or pronate?
  6. I drink all beer. After a long cycle even cat urine beer tastes fantastic.
  7. An Inbred 29'er? Now there is a interesting idea! Funny shaped teeth, a redneck accent and meat cleaver in hand - all because it humped its cousin, the 26er. Strange.
  8. "I ride hard and good solid technical riding, so need strong wheels. I would not want to spend more than R3500 (Chain reaction cycles prices)" Hope II's with ZTR rims should come out around that price. You can order the parts on CRC and get someone to build them. (Johan Bornman if you are is JGauteng comes recommended.)
  9. "And what would you have the 7 year old chinese children do anyway ?" By that age they should have retired by now. Abuse of the elderly. Makes me sick.
  10. I also consider myself practinoid, but I also realise that even still I am taking a risk. Its that fear that constantly gnaws at me.
  11. Meh! Bike weight is like alcohol percentage. It has little to do with quality.
  12. Is this the chicken farm just past Lanseria?
  13. I had a cane creek. It worked well until I could afford a FS.
  14. "Unicycles perhaps?" Single speed rigids most likely.
  15. Hubs. I hear Chris Kings are nice if you are concerned about quality and Hope II's are great value for money.
  16. Three weeks is normal for Royal Mail. If you go for UPS (even more expensive than parcelforce) you can get your stuff in two or three days.
  17. Kenda Nevgals - I had these tyres and ran tubes at the time - I had many punctures. Your lack of punctures is purely luck or where you ride, and nothing to do with the tyre itself.
  18. Its missing something...
  19. The West Rand is about thirty years behind so spinning classes should start there in about five years time. /jk
  20. Now all clown bike riders will want one! SRAM share price just went up 5%.
  21. Yummy.
  22. I can only suppose the reason they did not expect any, was they were testing roadies. http://www.news24.com/SciTech/News/UCT-team-scans-cyclists-brains-20110523 UCT team scans cyclist's brains Cape Town - Researchers in South Africa said on Monday they have found a way to measure the brain activity of cyclists at racing speed, breaking new ground in the study of how the brain works during exercise. The University of Cape Town study used a specially designed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to hold athletes' heads still while they lay horizontally inside and "cycled" on a set of pedals attached to a performance monitor. The Brazilian-South African research team is still crunching data from the project, but said it promises to unlock new information about which brain areas control exercise and the relation between sports performance and the brain. "Because of the difficulty of the project, technique, equipment and methodology, limited information is available in this area of exercise science research," said Elske Schabort, a postdoctoral fellow at the university's exercise science centre. "The opportunity to be among the first to initiate such novel investigations will allow great progress in our work to try to understand and describe the involvement of brain and central nervous system during exercise and performance regulation." A group of seven competitive cyclists were asked to lie inside the scanner and do a performance test. The first results from the study should be out early next year, said Eduardo Fontes, a doctoral student at the University of Campinas in Brazil who designed the specially modified scanner. - SAPA
  23. Black Diamonds: isn't that what the BEE dudes call themselves? Edit: how about Making a jump out of dried cow dung and calling it "the Julius"?
  24. ***ahem Norman ***- real men don't put wings on their cars, drink light beer or use yellow tyres. Remember: I am watching you!
  25. I got from CRC too.
