  1. Shot Man!!!! and You being a bike shop/owner manager i thought id get some decent input from you...? Hmm... i shall steer clear of your shop sir.....
  2. maybe a different topic but here is another idea....... i have a XT 3x9 crank 22/34/44 with 11-34 off my old bike.... I used Sram XO grip shift and rear derailure. now if i get the 2012 anthem- XT 2x10. 11-36 with full XT shifters and derailures... i could move my old components over, sell the New shimano stuff add in a few rand's and get better wheels?? would that be a better idea or would the 11-34 kill me on a 29er? i did get a loan bike and it had 3x10 with 11-36 but i purposefully never used the 36 gear at the back. because in my head i was going to buy a frame and wheels and build up a bike, now i find that buying a whole new bike is cheaper. so my thinking was i have a 22 in front and the loan bike had a 24 as small blade... so technically it should be ok? or am i smoking my socks?
  3. DONE!! thanks guys!
  4. yes, sorry. 26/39. ok, im also leaning toward the 24/32/42. thanks guys.
  5. Need to make a decision fast! both on a 29er. one is 2011 one is 2012. both same pricing. just the 2011 has a 3x10 up front 24/32/42 and 11-36 rear full XT. 2012 has 2x10 in front 24/39 and 11-36 rear also full XT. im fast downhils and through technical stuff but i am heavy so i battle up hill... which one will be better for my style of riding? need to make a decision today! thanks.
  6. i will do so. the bike needs to go in for a huge service, so ill have them chick it out at the same time.
  7. ok so it should be fine as long as there is no damage... will check it out. thanks!
  8. Hi guys, i just realized that the forks on my tandem are carbon.... our combined weight is about 200kg. will these forks be strong enough?? i dont know what brand they are but there is a sticker on the side that says "EVO" ?? the LAST thing i need it for them to collapse and send my Mrs and I into the dirt/tar...... we doing the argus and need to replace asap if its an issue!
  9. Rapid fire?? i tested the X5's and like the push/push system... but found the lack of rapid fire a bit slow when shifting down.....
  10. should those Lions decide to attack... the LIONS will be the baddies and be shot.... there is no bravery in that pic... just an @sshole who thinks he's "all that" rant off....
  11. Chatted to them Via Email today, issues sorted. thanks guys!
  12. will do so asap.
  13. You guys are lucky. i have emailed them a few times and i only ever get a one word reply... nothing like , sorry no, but we're getting next week etc... i asked them if they had the following- Do you have ZTR Arch with 36 spoke 29" rims and 36 spoke Hope hubs front and rear? reply- NO!!! now offer of another product or 32 hole components or help in advice... just... NO!! i have not even got a reply to me asking about a frame.... So.... ill take my R32k for a new bike build somewhere else.......

Handlebar Giant Contact, Low Rise 31.8 Stem Giant Contact Ti, OverDrive 2 Seatpost Giant Contact, 30.9 Giant X-2 spec. Handlebar Giant Connect 31.8 Stem Giant Connect Seatpost Giant Connect, 30.9
  15. what Rims are you running RollandBounce?
  16. Don't know what you are talking about...
  17. Still dont know where you get that incorrectly spelled a word... hehehe. are the ZTR's not very weak around the spoke nipples? i have read up a bit and guys say that around that area the ZTR's bend easily...?
  18. don't know what your talking about!
  19. Which one of these wheel sets would be the lights and strongest rims for a 29er? im 6'1" and 110kg. ride rough trails hard and do the odd drop off of about 2-3foot.. i have about R6000-7500 for a wheel set. im not that keen on getting rims and having wheels built. would like to get a wheel set. these are what ive come up with Mavic Crossmax 29er? American Classic- Which ones? Fullcrum Red which ones?
  20. its easy just to say "oh im not getting into a mud sling etc... bla bla bla" and pretend to take the "higher moral" ground when you are guilty and to dismiss the OP.... but buy NOT coming out and telling their side they ARE HIDING SOMETHING.... and say what you want..... recovering a stolen bike and NOT letting the owner know IMMEDIATELY is VERY dodgy and unprofessional.... or were they going to wash it for him before they told him?? Maybe the OP did not have the time to do the job himself? just because he was/is a mechanic doesn't mean he MUST do it... anyone with that idea is deluded.... !!!! but anyway..... there will be the Nay and YAY sayers..... BUT... put yourself in the OP's shoes... what would all you PERFECT hubers do.... oh wait, i know, bend over and take it from the LBS.... as usual..... its because you do this that there is almost a daily rant about LBS services..... you are part of the problem......
  21. i would even go that far to pay to ride one for a weekend.... but if there are no test bikes... im not holding my breath for a rented bike....
  22. You guys in the Cape are lucky, your LBS's care.... here in JHB its the buck before the service... and even then the service is ............
  23. And finally! a bike shop open on Sundays! you will see me there for sure!!!!
  24. ok, so i am in the market for a new bike.... i had a 26er but now looking at a 29er... the MOST common response is- "TEST RIDE THE BIKES!" now how THE HELL do i do that when every bike Shop i have been to says they have no test bikes....?? i have a list as long as my arm of bike shops that will sell me a bike BLIND! even after telling them i have never ridden a 29er... they still wanna sell me the bike...!!! how the hell do i know if i will like the 29er or it will suit what riding i do... on paper the 29er has its spot... but does it have a spot for me?? i will only know once i have ridden a 29er... but OH NO.... no flippin shop has test bikes... WTF?? so how do i make an informed decision? they are all SO keen to say this and that but ask for a test ride/bike and you start to stink or something because they quickly turn attention to the next "victim" !! someone who does not want to make an informed decision and is stupid enough to buy blind.... i have the money to spend... I WILL BUY a bike... or am i being judged because i drive a 1985 vehicle and wear slops looking at a 30k bike....??? rant off......
