  1. RS2106- when in August are you going? my Folks in law live about 18km form Champagne Sports. i ride the area often and know a few really awesome/ technical trails- routes. we are down there mid August- but in that trip i need to go to cape town, around the 15th- so will be away for a few days, but will return. pm me if you keen on hooking up for a pedal if our times overlap. cheers.
  2. i also noticed that fountains was ALOT quieter? no loud music....?
  3. I asked the Guards this afternoon about developments and they said they caught the guys....? said they were not South African. i also noticed a New fence, has been erected along the R21. the old one is still standing as well. there are still places they can get in but on the whole the new fence is right down to ground level and seems quiet taught along the bottom. So lets hope this helps! oh, and they have cut the grass at the top long the fences, by that switch back single track and all the way round, but they have REALLY cut it short and hope this does not cause an erosion problem with the first heavy rains....
  4. Solomons in woodmead sorted a helmet warranty out for me- i did not even buy the helmet there- was a bell, they told me to take my pick off their shelf, they will deal with Omni. Paid the 30% re the warranty rules and had my new helmet same day! FYI- the shop i actually bought the helmet from wanted 60% re the warranty- i called Omni and they confirmed only 30% and the shop where i bought the helmet was adding an extra mark up!
  5. So i'm looking into and anthem W or men's small for my lady, but i see the geometries are very similar except the stand over height - 32.2 for the Women's Medium and 30.4 for the men's small. there are only slight differences in the top tube and head tube, also tiny difference in the wheel base. could this be a typo on the sight? Men's- http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x/10744/53394/ Woman's- http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.w/8352/53464/
  6. HA HA HA! how times have changed! im sure back then it was more about the fun and camaraderie... even helping the guy next to light up! these days its dog eat dog and no one would help you with anything... its ruthlessly competitive!!!!
  7. Yeah, it is only 100mm, but we ride very s l o w.... (because of me) hehehe.... we're actually looking for a small anthem x frame for her, as they are even more comfy... But Back to the route- its definitely improved from a smoothed out point of view... will be back!
  8. Dude.... she is on a very sexy Cube AMS Pro Dual suspension! 1.7bar in tires and very soft suspension settings... when she rides it looks like her bike frame is floating while the forks and Chainstay are going mad...
  9. So ill answer my own question... it allot smoother than when i first rode it. Ladies back was fine! one thing though, the markings at the top are quiet confusing with yellow arrows pointing laft and right, back and forward... also, some of poles have burnt down with recent fires and guessing witch way to go is quite confusing... maybe some steel poles so they cant burn down... but the trails are really cool.! flowing and fast! THANKS for keeping them open guys!
  10. Hey guys! how are the trails looking these days? do they still have the "Grassy Knoll's" like a few weeks back?? Wanna take my lady there but she has just recovered-ish from a back injury so the less bump the better. regards.
  11. What also works is the grey power that comes with Q_BOND. but dont put the superglue on... just wet the allen key/ torx and dip it in the bottle, or dust on the allen key or torx bit as not to contaminate the bottle. wiggle it in, light tap if needs be and out it comes! Also, keep in mind that the first time it slips, used this stuff, don't continue to strip it more...
  12. The stuff i have is called Re-Grip. Here is what it looks like. Sorry about the quality of the pic.
  13. Most hardware's worth their salt should stock this.... get some anyhow for the next one, one drop and its out! no drilling, sawing, filing etc....
  14. There is a bottle of easy out that one can buy. small bottle like eye drops bottle. it has a liquid inside with metal iron shavings. a drop of this and the Allen key/torx bit grabs again. i use this stuff on the bows i repair when a screw is stripped. also works on small rounder bolt heads. magic stuff!
  15. What did Groenkloof security say??
  16. the 2.0ltr TD will be ok, stay away from the 1.4TSI, that small motor is under HUGE stress to get the body of the Tig moving... (Great for the polo) will be all smiles for the 1st 50k km, after that things will break... the Amaroks will have these issues too... 2lt turbo motor in a huge body..??. it cant hold out very long..... normally asp petrol motors usually give the best long life service (other than a norm asp diesel motor) KIA seen to have upped their game in the last 18months and i would take the KIA over the Hyundai. but as you say, if you are going to run it in motor plan, then im sure any car you like will be fine, it comes down to what YOUR preferences are... that said, motor/service plan helps with not paying for services/repairs etc, its built into the purchase price, BUT its also a factor to consider as to not having your vehicle at a dealer every 4th week for something wrong... and should you have long trips planned, peace of mind knowing you have reliability is a winner....
  17. Sorted. Paid 30% of purchase price for a new one! THANK YOU SOLOMON CYCLES!!!!!!
  18. Its a new crash hat for me!!!
  19. Longbarn, in other words, a 30% pay in.... ok, so it must be on the NEW price then... happy with that! it saved my pip and want another just like it! not another bail but another identical crash hat!
  20. Ok, because the Agents said its 30% of the original purchase price as per your proof of purchase slip.... im my case i bought the helmet in 2010 and it was R1695. new they are about 2k ish. but even then, i have no issue paying for the warranty claim, just not an added mark up...???
  21. Who of you have had to use this warranty? as far as i understand it, its a 30% pay in of the original purchase price correct?? mine needs replacing and i went back to original shop where i bought it and i did the claim form, on the form it said there is a 30% replacement charge. i wanted to confirm this with the shop and they said its more likely going to be 60% and the shop is NOT putting a mark up on it... but i have just signed for 30%?? So anyhow, i called the agents and asked if this was correct, and they said that they ONLY charge 30%. the shop must be putting an extra mark up on the new helmet.. im my case, another 30%? after being told that there is NO mark up... i collected my broken helmet... i just wanted to ask if i am correct in thinking that the extra mark up is not right, as i have already bought the helmet from the LBS and they have made their profit. The warranty issue is now between myself and Bell.... or is the LBS entitled to mark up again?? I fully understand the 30% to Bell, as i broke the helmet, it was not a defect issue, but should the shop be able to make a mark up twice on the same item? Your thoughts??
  22. You didnt say what your price range is about? unless i missed it, i am quiet slow. if you are looking in the range of R190-250k, then i recommend the Land cruiser Prado, (the 120 series) its everything you will need. off road capable, smooth, quiet and the 4ltr V6 is a power house. fuel consumption is around 11-12lt/100km and the resale value is far better than most other SUV's. even 2nd hand. the diesel version is also VERY nice and fuel consumption is about 25-30% better than the V6. that said, when it comes to diesel maintenance, the cost out weighs the fuel saving of diesel. I drive a LC 80series and working my way to the 120.... my LC is on 390 000km and not a beat missed....
  23. If you take it to a powder coating place/ anodizing place, some of them Acid dip and it comes out very clean! will be a dull grey but when you repaint using an aluminium based primer, it will be cool!
  24. those are some nice wheels! but above my budget unfortunately...
  25. i took the rim tape off on Thursday, all seems fine with rim tape, tried to check for holes and loose spokes. wheels are back together again..... i put new tubes in so lets see what happens this week. what gets me is that the hole in the tube is never in the same place...??? maybe it just IS bad luck.... i have got the calipers and rotors now, avid BB7's. still trying to find (read affordable) a Tandem rated disc compatible Fork. Need a new front disc compatible hub, the adapter on the rear hub to hold the rotor or a new rear hub. so as you can see im trying- but these parts are not cheap and i would like to buy decent components and not just- "that-will-do" kind goodies... that is why im also considering a new disc rated tandem wheel set. but these are also very expensive! So much i want to do but budget is not allowing be to...
