  1. Really liking the feel of the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M 45's They seem to roll quite fast and have grip for all seasons.
  2. I'll wade in and state that I won't buy anything again without using this service. I've been doing business on the "good faith" model for so long, so getting my money taken from me is a real wake up call. Got scammed this morning by some guy who called himself as Gary Bar - 079 036 5704. BikeHub sent me an e-mail advising that I'd had dealings with a suspicious character, unfortunately it was too late and the money had already gone. In any event, let that be a lesson for others too - use the safe systems that BikeHub have put in place.
  3. Haha, been there done that, got the chin tattoo ;-)
  4. Liked the idea of the tan sidewall when I replaced my rear tire, but couldn’t just chuck the front because it didn’t match. Guess I need to do some endo’s to make it wear quicker...
  5. If you wheelie long enough your mates can snap away at their leisure
  6. Random lightness of the front wheel ????
  7. Spent a holiday there a couple of years ago. Number of trails really... Have a look on either Strava or Garmin global heatmaps for the trails. Nice rocky trail from Rooi Els to PB. Also the trail to BB as aforementioned. Then you can also head into the Kogelberg NR, lovely long days out there to be had. Also, don’t ever discount Clarence drive from PB to Gordon’s Bay - it’s quite simply incredibly beautiful and a lovely ride (even on your MTB). An off shoot on that route is the climb up to the Steenbras dam. Anyway, happy exploring.
  8. I've entered for my first full 36ONE. Did the relay with Thinus Redelinghuys in 2014, so really looking forward to doing the full loop. Training has been going well - starting to ramp up the hours and interval intensity.
  9. My 2016 Scalpel in its natural environment.
  10. Many interesting opinions on the new Weg! ToerFiets magazine here... Here's my 2CW: 1. That stunning cover page image got me planning a 500 miler in an epic landscape; 2. The content is top notch and makes me dream of long days in the saddle exploring new landscapes; 3. The use of language is excellent - as an Afrikaans person that works only in English, I find reading in Afrikaans to be quite difficult in general. The easy translation of English terms to Afrikaans had me smiling and as promised reads easily. Kudo's to the publishers - I know I am already waiting for the next edition!
  11. Ek sit nou by my en besin hieroor.
  12. Good luck to all the riders doing the race! Some serious kahoonas for anyone even attempting it, let alone finishing it in brutal summer conditions.
  13. Not so sure about the roadie part. "LATEST ACHIEVEMENTS Previous 24hr World MTB Marathon Champion & The 36ONE MTB Challenge back to back 2014 & 2015 solo winner and course record holder." Source: http://www.32gi.com/jean/
  14. ... by an ex 24 hour World Champion.
  15. Has the Epic relaxed its stance on those individuals who have been found to have doped in the past? George Hincapie comes to mind.
  16. Also had the same issue with the Ikons I rode, won't ever use them again.
  17. Having not read what everyone else said, this is what works for me: 1. Use a Buff around your neck and cover your mouth and nose with it. 2. Anatomic have a fleece that comes around your neck and covers the chest - looks look a newspaper, use it. 3. Cover your head either with a Buff or a dedicated under-helmet beanie. The above will keep most of the cold off of your chest, away from your neck and you will be breathing in warm air through the Buff. Safe travels!
  18. Only major advantages! My take on it: No longer have trouble with shifting in the front. Don't have to shift in the front and the rear when the gradient changes drastically. No longer have any double gears, although differences in ratios are about 3% bigger comapred to a 10 speed 11/36 rear cassette. Smaller likelihood of chainsuck. No need for any form of chain retention on the front ring, regardless of the terrain, hardtail or full suspension. It really is a simpler setup for me, probably the greatest change I have ever experienced on the bike. There are some small negatives: You need to have a look at the elevation profile before you take on a race, at times you might run out of gears though.
  19. Hi guys I bought over an entry from a mate of mine for the Sani2C, however he has ordered size small kit and I require large, is there anyone who's maybe in an opposite situation looking for size small stuff?
  20. I cover lots of km on a monthly basis on the MTB,, so reckon your statement might not hold water. I twice had Maxxis Ikon on the rear wheel, both delaminated within 3 months of fitment...
