  1. My Varia has gone and packed up. Green light comes on when plugging in to charge and then turns to solid red. It seems stuck in this position. Updated it, removed it and reloaded but it is still the same. I really like this safety unit so would like to know if anybody has had a similar experience and what was done to fix it? As always, advice is greatly appreciated.
  2. Been using one of these for years. Have a dynamo hub now but just take this along as a torch.
  3. If you don't come right, I am open to offers though?
  4. I have all of the above plus a bakkie flatbed stand-up rack and a complete square rack available as well. But, I am not throwing away........
  5. Unfortunately I am not in your area but I have a Thule rack you could borrow and a set of Karrimore panniers. Never tried the Karrimore on the Thule rack. Karrimore are bigger (sometimes heel strike) with rain cover and Thule bags are smaller with roll top but quite sufficient. Unfortunately I use the Thule on a daily basis so they are unavailable. If you can make a plan I will be happy to oblige.
  6. Great thread. Anything for safety. I only ride with a Varia and it it is a fantastic piece of kit. Unfortunately it comes at a price and only works with the high end Garmin products. I just love mine but would like something which could work with other units and smaller Garmin devices. Not sure where you are going with this but I can highly recommend the warning radar. I will follow this thread with interest.
  7. Yes, I agree. I dropped it off with him last Thursday and he said he would see what he can do. thanks for the heads up.
  8. Tried this tent and regretted it on occasions Went for a single Naturehike I think it is called. Never looked back.
  9. You know your saddles! Yes, it is a Professional S. Not selling one of yours then????
  10. Not chewing gum! FrogzEggs moulded to stop saddle nose catching and tearing my shorts. I cannot lift my leg high enough due to a busted hip. Cable ties were for holding Cyclec unit out of harms way.
  11. Yes, this is my plan if all else fails.
  12. Thanks Dusty, Rabubi. Have spoke to Dave as Droo suggested and am waiting on a recommendation from him. Unfortunately I find this saddle the best I have ever used by a large margin and I have tried most including the Freedom Saddle. This Brooks just does it for me. My second choice is a Rolls which I have fitted on the interim and was happy with it until I discovered Brooks. It feels like I am riding on a brick now and should I get a new one, it will still have to be worn in. If nothing happens I may just try my welding skills and slide a ferrule of sorts over the welded bit. Heart breaking pic attached.
  13. Many thanks Droo, will do just that.????
  14. Gooday All My skinny backside has just gone and broken my Brooks saddle rail. Any ideas as what can be done and if repairable? Thanks in advance.
  15. Seriously, what I do is a plastic bag over the saddle, loosen QR and fishing line to my arm or tent pole. I also tie the bike up (untying rope or cutting the rope in the dark is not that easy) put an empty tin (if avail) with a stone in it and rest it on the saddle Don't know if this all works as all has been good so far..... I travel alone and sleep lightly.
  16. Exactly what I use. Never looked back. If you get cold, put on all your clothes.
  17. Which bike shop is this?
  18. Thanks Chris Have tried them both. Have a Chilled Squirrel home fit and they also don't have smaller rings.
  19. Hi Guys I am desperately needing a 30T chainring to fit on a Truckrun/Bafang mid-mount motor. 5 hole with a 60 BCD is required. Any adaptors available?
  20. Busy converting an electric motor onto a bike for touring. Only too happy to test. Win, win all round. Unfortunately, I am in Durban.
  21. Just ordered mine from Revu. They are collecting tomorrow. Must say the service from Doyle is unbelievably good!????
  22. Gooday All Request please? Is there anybody who is planning to come down to Durban in the next week or so and could bring an ebike battery with them? I have purchased a motor and would like to get the battery from Reflecto in order to fit and test the installation. I understand there are also no 48v chargers in the country at the moment. Any suggestions? Thanks very much
  23. Many thanks Dusty, appreciate your input.
  24. Hi Guys I am hoping the collective knowledge of those in the know will be able to assist me in answering some questions? I am “thinking” of going electric and am looking for advice, please? What I require is a bike I can go gravel touring on and doing a maximum of 80 – 100 kms a day. The bike will be loaded with panniers etc. Questions: Is there a bike out there without suspension? (I have a Redshift stem and a decent suspension seatpost) Is there a bike which will be able to use an Old Man Mountain rack? Bike with sufficient mounting points for water bottles etc? Will my current custom wheels be able to take the extra weight (FRM with Dynamo upfront and WTB Frequency at the rear. Would I need special tyres or wheels? (Using Schwalbe Land Cruiser) What size battery/motor is advisable re extra weight? Is there a kit I could buy to convert my Planet X London Road 3 x 9 to electric as I love this bike? (Would it be worth it, hassle free?) New/secondhand - if available? Any other areas I need to look at? The itch is getting quite bad and I need something for my aging torso. Thanks in advance
  25. Think it was Jan/ Feb? Also love the Karoo open spaces and long roads with the noisy silence. But the headwind.... Guys at Safari campsite were great and this is why the people in the Karoo are very special.
