  1. Anysberg Reserve was closed when I arrived there but they allowed me to ride through and camp at the closed campsite. No vehicles were involved. Don't know if this is still applicable as it was pre-Covid. I found the staff there very pleasant and obliging. Definitely worth a try?
  2. Whilst in Prince Albert, I got caught with a puncture which would not seal and popped into Prince Albert Cycles for advice and Arno just fixed the tyre immediately and gave me a cup of very decent coffee. He also offered, without hesitation, to keep my car while on the road. (Thanks again) Needles to say, I came unstuck properly after 100k's plus of my 400km planned ride and had no option but to call it. I had a headwind ALL THE way and used 2nd and 3rd gear only so I was really in survival mode. Against my inner will, I gave Arno a call and requested assistance. He had a meeting later in the afternoon but again without hesitation immediately said, Stay put, I am on my. way." He saved my bacon. A humbler, kinder person I have never met before. He has done some huge rides both local and international and does not part with any info unless pressed. It was a great pleasure meeting him and finding out about all the repairs he does for charity and the characters who reside in the town. A truly noble man in PA and if in that area, pop in and have the best coffee PA has to offer (really!!)..........and the stories he can tell you! A humble soul and I thank you, my learned friend. So, if any of you guys become unstuck in this neck of the woods, contact me, I would love to Pay it Forward.
  3. Exactly the same thing happened with my 800. Took it apart and worked it from the inside. Wish I saw this thread earlier.
  4. Spoke too soon. My already replaced 1030 has now packed up and is unreliable. This will be the 7th time it has been back to the agents. Before I slate the product, I would like to give Garmin another chance. (Maybe it is from the lack of use as it is still "new")
  5. I have been using the Suntour (Sp) for many years now and have not had any trouble at all, just absolute pleasure. I use it on a gravel bike and it has a pleasant conversation with my backside every time they meet up. I will never change it, ever! It works so well, I purchased a second one as a spare. I suppose if you are going for podium then it is a no no and if not, it is worth every cent. Paid in the region of two grand per unit.
  6. My 1030 is more than I need and is still working perfectly. Hope it stays like that. Only had one warranty replacement.
  7. Thanks Slowbee, used to hunt Rhebok on that mountain. Walked many a mile with my dog and on horseback. Brings back many happy childhood memories. Did a cycle trip from Tarka via this area Bedford and Cradock the other day. Just had to do it albeit with a tear in my eye on every hilltop.
  8. Local would also be lekker!
  9. Tsolwana, old family farm it was. Then they stuffed it up!
  10. Woodoc, smooth as glass, with or without shine. Yellowood, definitely clear 50?. (Heat resistant) Seal with three coats Woodoc clear sealant and light sanding in-between and three coats 50 also light sanding in-between. Use a decent brush. Woodoc interior or exterior (more UV protection) wood food once a year with a sponge and it will last a lifetime. Don't play around with pieces like this. Fantastic! Have done a couple in my life and they still look new.
  11. I see a red door and I want to paint it black.............
  12. Another vote for Velobrien. And they are in your area. Had three done by them, no problems apart from cost.
  13. I can replace it with a red Rolls to match the removed red bottle cage and sell it separately .....or is it the black cage I should remove?
  14. Ha ha, maybe I just remove one of them Problem solved?
  15. I agree 100% Just wish somebody would comment on my add for a road bike I wish to sell on this here Hub There are many more qualified than myself in this regard and I take the criticism as a positive guide.
  16. Holdfast, half the price. Used them for years, bikes, skis, timber. No problem at all.
  17. I stayed in a small town near Kroonstad once...... Sunday lunches after church was something to behold. Oh, to be young again!
  18. Thanks, got it now. There goes my time......
  19. Me too!
  20. Think of you every time I swing my leg over my bike. Your attitude will beat this. Get better, NOW!
  21. I have used them both. Clayton was a wiz at difficult setups. (He would know) I have also used Dwane at Specialized in Waterfall with the best results. I need to go again.
  22. For serious road riding and tri. Don't think he is the man for MTB or casual riding. (in my experience)
