  1. I have not found a glue which hold properly onto the Varia. I used a self tapper with a tether (SS fishing trace) into the one corner and all is good. There is also a screw which holds the back rubber cover on and this I have used on my newer Varia. I too don't trust bands
  2. Another "small trip" ..................๐Ÿ™„
  3. Yip, the one and only. Been to most places Dusty has.
  4. Ping Dusty here on the Hub. He is never at home, always camping out. He WILL be able to help.
  5. Gooday Admin I am unable to read my messages if they are longer than two lines. I do not seem to be able to scroll down enough to see the complete message, seems to be cut off? The pane is not big enough to show the whole message and I am unable to increase it? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
  6. Varia, Flea and Flare. Trust me, used during Durban floods and more.
  7. Has anybody tried the Jeukendorf (Sp) drink? Any coments?
  8. Why not consider a conversion? Cheapest and best way to go as far as I am concerned.......
  9. Try Pattex WonderFix? Worked for me.
  10. Disagree. Washing/soaking in paraffin is a good idea (if you can afford it these days.) Once dry, it creates a covering layer. It has a name but forget what it is and call upon the Engineers here to comment on this process. It makes the metal more succeptable to accepting oils and the likes. This is visually possible to observe.
  11. I use one. Fantastic. Always dry afterwards and I only use gear oil on my chain. 7000kms so far and still good. I use the cleaner for many other parts......jockey wheels, derailer, cassettes, valves etc. Recomended.
  12. Ghost rider be found here. Beware.
  13. Is anybody able to help me with 160mm square taper cranks with approx 10mm offset? Want to try something as my one leg is 20mm shorter than the other. Colour etc is not important. Thanks
  14. All this talk about wide rims which I cannot understand or afford. I ride WTB i19 rims with no hassels but which tyre will allow me to go wide? I can go up to 45 width and ride mostly gravel roads. I usually buy the cheapest tyre I can afford. At the moment I am using CSK and Rambler. Some tyres will go wider on these narrow rims but what are they?
  15. I got mine for less than half that price with a big battery. Did it myself, easy peasy. Also built boats and fitting a motor next to this is a piece of pie.
  16. It gets easier as you go along, believe me. It is like commuting....way of life. As Danger Dassie said, dont overthink it, just get on with it. New fuel increase will pay the bike off earlier now.
  17. Yip, spare Rapide wheelset with 28 road tyres in my garage๐Ÿ‘
  18. I have been using my bike for the exact purpose the OP needs. Speak to shop owner about bike parking. I have made arrangements with various shops but I am stuck with shopping centres. As Ouzo says, they just dont give a damn. Purchased a lock (only a deterant) and use both panniers depending on how big the shopping is. I use a dedicated bike bag for bread, eggs, chocolates and other delicate goods. Park in a highly visible place and make fiends with the guard, doorman or Covid sprayer. I Have lights on my panniers and a Varia so cannot do more except remove this and the Garmin when tied up. I also avoid black as it seems to make you invisible to motorists against the backdrop of the tar. Aldura safety visibility reflective jacket at all times, also water repellant and wind resistant as I cycle in all weather. Dont care what I look like to others as it is my life out there and I am not a fashion cyclist. I have done 5000kms over the past 4 months (not only shopping!!!) so all cant be bad ecept my car battery (new but now poked) Fitted a mid mount electric motor which is really fantastic for this purpose and would not have it any other way. Using Ramblers and cheapie 38 tyres which do the job, even in the rain and under load. Happy days.
  19. I only use MTB wheels on my bike. I am currently on a set of RS wheels with 38 tyres for the gravel.
  20. Ok, I read all this. But my problem is that my one leg is actually 22mm shorter than the other or the other leg is longer than the other by the same amount (Hip injury) Would different crank lengths help in this case when the difference is in the hip area?
  21. Could not take a pic like this even if I was off my bike. Fantastic!
  22. I have used eBike Cafe in Joeys with excellent results. Speak to Graham, he knows his stuff.
  23. I rode some of these tubeless. For what you pay they worked fine for me.....on the road that is. They seemed to get better after doing some mileage.
  24. I need to lock my bike up when I go shopping. I don't think a D lock will work because the bike can be uplifted into a vehicle in the parking lot. What are the recommendations with regard to cable/chain around wheels and locking to a shopping trolley rack for example? I have searched the hell out of the forums but there does not seem to be a definitive answer. Is there anything new on the market, insurance requirements, where to purchase? Advice appreciated.
  25. I have heard about adding ground pepper to a tubeless setup but what about used ground coffee? Anybody tried this๐Ÿ˜Š? (Asking for a friend)
