  2. How about quality road wheelset, disc brake with through axles. Campy perhaps?
  3. I buy from Evobikes all the time. Great service and fair prices. Janos is always happy to listen to me yack on the phone for 15 minutes to get his input on parts, etc. Never complains and always friendly. Big thumbs up from me.
  4. So will this fit in below GX? Seems to be getting quite complicated - XX1, XO1, 1X, GX, NX? Is that right?
  5. I changed my Ghost Lector from a 3x10 to a 2x10. Best conversion ever. I spend less time changing gears and feel much more comfortable with the ratios. I also run a full XT set up. I changed the cranks (didn't know you could do it by just adapting the chain rings). XT shifters have a small screw under the shifter which makes it easy to convert to 2x10. I did have to change the front derailleur as well though - which was a pain in the ass! Go for it - just do it!
  6. gonna be muddy. been raining in harties all day. stick to the mountains.
  7. Thanks Anton, will do.
  8. Thanks guys, called Evolution and they gave me the number of a guy - Dave. Called him and waiting for a reply. Appreciate the help.
  9. Thanks Markdeep, if all else fails I will do just that. Have also submitted a "please call me" on the Evolution website. No telephone number on the site unfortunately.
  10. Does anyone know if Emotion Cycles still exists? They are the guys who used to bring in Volcan bikes and, from what I have been able to find on the internet, form part of Evolution Cycles (Raleigh). Funny thing is their website is down and the phone number is no longer in service. All of this just as the rear triangle (carbon) snapped on my Volcan FS2. If anyone has a new number of contact details I would seriously appreciate it! Alternatively, if they have died and gone to LBS heaven, does anyone know of a good carbon repair man (or woman) in the Pretoria area.
  11. Deeeeeeee batch - should be fun
  12. Had Avid Elixir's - liked them. Have XT - luv them. No contest!
  13. I used to ride with a Gobi. Loved it like many others in this thread. Decided to try a Tundra 2 cause I was a little uncomfortable on the Gobi when doing steep climbs. Took a bit of getting used to, but now I won't change the Tundra for anything. Rode my old bike this weekend, with the Gobi on. It felt terrible. Guess it comes down to personal choice and a lot of trial and error. I have also tried Selle Royal and WTB but nothing to write home about.

  15. D batch - I'll take that. Really looking forward to the River section. Will they be including the Dragon's Back section of the River route in the race? Rode it this weekend and it is HAIRY!!
  16. My team ID is Waitlist - 35. Sure hope there are 35 teams out there who decide they no longer like MTB and become roadies, or something like that. When is a good time to start asking about people wanting to sell / swop out entries? I would guys closer to the race....
  17. Mate of mine broke his eggbeaters after 6 months. He has changed to SPD's. I was looking at a set of Candy 11's. Bike pron, but the shop guy told me I would be spending more time maintaining than riding. Have stuck to my TIME ATAC's and remain very happy. No maintenance needed in 4 years and they perform better than SPD's in mud. Lighter as well.
  18. I agree that scammers should be shot, but at the same time dom mense moet swaarkry!
  19. All 3 awesome bikes. I have a Ghost 2978, so I am biased. The geo on the ghost is a little less racing snake and a little more all mountain that the others, but only by a hair. That means better descending but slower climbing. With that said, the Magalies Monster Marathon was won on a ghost (speaking under correction) so it sure aint slow. The groupo, shocks and wheels are all top shelf. Correct me if Im wrong but the ghost comes with full xtr, fox ctd kashima front and back, easton wheels, ritchey carbon cockpit, etc - right? If it were my money, it would be the ghost. call Jason or Adam at bbtrading.co.za for the best pricing. Enjoy!
  20. Does anyone have any experience with these wheels. I have a friend who is considering buying a set, but we can't find much in terms of unbiased commentary. They look great, but do they last is the question. Also, where is the best place to get them? Cheers
  21. Sorry guys, the wheels are EA70XC, not EA70XT.
  22. Thanks Ryan, much appreciated
  23. I have a set of wheels that will be perfect for a PYGA build - Easton EA70XT. 15mm front and 12mm thrubolts at the back. I initially bought these off a hubber (brand new and new been used) for my own PYGA build, but the medium was too big for me, they don't make a small, bla bla - long sad story. Turns out that converting the rear 12mm to a QR is near on impossible. Since my new bike has QR at the back, I am looking for new wheels. If anyone is interested in buying the Eastons, let me know. I bought them for R3500, including Rocket Rons and will let them go for the same price. Buyer pays postage. The wheels are still at my LBS (looking for conversion options), so I can't post pics. This is also why I have not yet listed them in the classifieds. Thought I would give the PYGA clan first choice. If no one is interested I will list them in the classifieds and see what happens.
  24. I too am in the process of changing my 3x10 XT to a double. Interesting thing with XO and even XX is that it aint all that light (for the price). Since I am not a strong climber I am looking at a 26 38 combo, possibly 26 39. I have, however been looking at some other super light cranks like the Raceface carbon crank or even a FSA carbon crank. Does anyone have any experience with Raceface or FSA cranks in terms of reliability, getting parts, etc. Worst case scenario I may just stick to a new XT crank, which in terms of bang for your buck looks like a pretty good option.
  25. so I was gong to take over a mate's entry cause he could not ride. now the little b&%#tard has changed tack and will be riding, hence I am looking for an entry for the 40. if you have one and cant ride please let me know (unless you are the bachelors party guy)!
