  1. Also google the Bosal racks, very good value for money and fold up neatly for compact storage when not in use.
  2. Have you actually looked at what race events put back into the communities? Think you would be surprised.
  3. Old skool ... Nice! Have a couple that have been stitched to an old drimac years back. Still love the Rhodes challenge one.
  4. Sounds good I reckon
  5. Will always cherish the Epic medal, but yeah a lot of event medals endup being binned, declined or given away. I do like it when organisers give the idea of a finishers medal a different angle. Like the Energiser Night Series or Silva trail runs have their finishers medals as a bottle opener, for example.
  6. Anyone know what happened with the dude who was stretchered out? He ok?
  7. Couple on the Spruit as well, generally the very least to worry about as a threat though. The guys don't want any attention drawn to themselves, otherwise they're gone.
  8. What a shame this, was looking forward to seeing them race ... "Tread Magazine 20/04/2012 The country’s biggest mountain bike festival, the Mr Price Karkloof Classic, has been rocked by the withdrawal of iconic riders Kevin Evans and David George from Sunday's key 60km marathon race." http://www.treadmag.co.za/News/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=13415
  9. Cheers Thug, and yourself. Was great fun that. Well done Karma, had pretty much the same scenario as well.
  10. Was also there, did the 8.5km, was awesome fun and a great event. That BMX track but sure was a sting in the tail! Don't know what my time was. Pity about some of the tjops in B who started with A and didn't go back onto the start line when called, all good though.
  11. Ooohh, that's a thorny issue with a mate of mine. He's owned a number Ducati bikes. We rag him endlessly about it now, greeting in German etc ...
  12. http://murraytourdeforce.blogspot.com/
  13. Hells yeah, Reunion Island!
  14. Hey I remember the moulded wheelsets that were available for MTBs, now that would be porn!
  15. Noticed Alex Harris did the Epic this year, he said it was a shock to the system and VERY different. Loved it though. Have to give the guy a nod, to have done both. Excellent achievement! Trans Provence sounds similar to the Mega Avalanche ... Anyone?
  16. Yeah reckon I'll join in, am nearby as well.
  17. You're always in front though ...
  18. IMO Ideally if you can afford it, a 29r full suspension bike, a good compromise for comfort and reliability would be a HT 29r and easier on a budget. Any well serviced bike in good working order can make it though.
  19. Not an opinion on you, but the the mentality behind saying to break someone's collar bone with a pump in the wheel because of a bottleneck or passing. It's like the oke bashing someone with a baseball bat because they cut them off in traffic. So it's gone past the point of who is wrong or right. No worry about the pump, not normally in bottlenecks and as chilled as the next rider at them. As I said, really not threatened either, so feel free.
  20. Well I think you've answered yourself there as well. You are no different. Your self described scenario aside. Your forum threats really don't worry me, but it is good to know who the testosterone junkies are out there. Passing and being passed. By the by, I'm not a self proclaimed anything, if you actually read my posts. Keep your little pump and choice words, I really am not threatened. Do find your response interesting though, can't get past the bottle neck storyline which most who have posted agree, suck it up and wait.
  21. Seriously? So what then, that you're a bigger **** than the other guy because he/she doesn't kiss your ass to pass? Macho stuff indeed.
  22. There was actually a guy that used to be at many of the RMBC and Pretoria events who had a sign on his back, basically saying "Please be patient I am deaf and cannot hear or know you are right behind" something to that effect. Could be wrong so apologies, but apparently the guy was somewhat mentally disabled. **** me, but take all the pros etc out of the equation, that is a rider I admire and respect.
  23. And thats great too .... In essence I'd have to agree in general, nothing wrong with giving it a bash either. Don't know how some folk go to do it each year, but fair play to them.
  24. No dude, there are a number of well priced good Epic training programs out there for the likes of us mere more mortals who need to work as well as ride/train. The mental aspect far outweighs the physical fitness required. Or as one Epic 'regular' said, it's 90% mental, the other 10% is mental. Look at Bonny Swanepoel, this year would have been her 9th, eight on the same bike! Major props. Get them lotto cards out ...
